I'm guessing the injury is Schneiderlin.

Guessing we've gone back to the 4-3-3 with Davis, JWP & Lallana as the 3 CM's, Gaston wide left, Punch wide right and Lambert through the centre?

                     Gazzaniga

Richardson Yoshida Hooiveld Clyne

                      Davis

             JWP Lallana

 Puncheon Ramirez

                     Lambert

If Schneiderlin is injured it would make more sense to stick with the 4231 system they used in the last two games, then use the 433 which used Schneiderlin as the holding midfielder.

Think we'll struggle if it's Schneiderlin who is out. Would also struggle without Clyne.

Meh not that big of a talent drop from Morgan to JWP.

will be fine imo

I dont agree with you. To go to Everton with just Davis and JWP as the CM's would be criminal IMO. Need 3 in there to combat Fellaini as the AM and whoever else is in CM. 3 CM's are required to give us that extra bit of support and energy. Gonna be a long afternoon otherwise.

Then again, wouldn't surprise me if he goes with someone like Mayuka out wide to threaten Baines and try to push him back as far as possible and get Pienaar back to help him. Only possibly happen if he has recovered from his ankle knock though.

Knew it. Back to 4-3-3 it is then today by the look of it.

Straight swap morgan and jwp. No change of formation. We play 2 holding mid with ramirez in between them and srl.

Possibly but I think it will be like how we started the season. Davis and JWP is too lightweight as holding MF IMO.

Could the front 6 possibly look a bit like:

- - - JWP - - - Davis - - - -

Gaston - - - Rod - - - Lallana

- - - - - -Lambert

I'm hoping so, I'd rather not see Rod pushed out wide again.

Great team selection, Clyne at left back and Rodriguez gets a start. I think that it is important to reward people who do well in the cup games, it will make fringe players believe that if that put in a good performance in the cup then they may play in the prem game.

I think we might see JRod and Lambert up front together, with Lallana and Ramirez out wide and JWP and Davis behind.

This. Lambert dropping a bit as a CF, JRod leading as ST to exploit them with a bit of pace as he did to SWFC.

Rodriguez is playing wide after showing his ability in the City & Wigan game to get back and support his full back. Wouldn't even surprise me if he was actually playing wide right today. I cant see it being anything other than 4-3-3.

Play 4-2-3-1 and we'll get torn apart down the right IMO but with the 4-3-3 and Rodriguez on the right, he can push Baines back high up the pitch but also get back to support Richardson.

4-4-2 and we'll get overrun in CM but I was thinking it could potentially be a diamond / 4-3-1-2 but that would again leave the full backs exposed due to no designated wide men. Interesting dilemma today for Adkins.

As far as i know i think we`re playing two upfront.

Very brave from Adkins. That means it'll look something like this I think. Main concern is Richardson at right back and the thought he'll be quite exposed if JWP doesnt push across and double up with him.

                         Gazzaniga

Richadson Fonte Yoshida Clyne

          Ward-Prowse Davis Lallana

                        Ramirez

                Lambert Rodriguez

I wouldn't want either Ramirez or J-Rod to play "out wide". J-Rod is a central striker and Ramirez was perfect in the 'Sheringham' role.

I think we look to be playing without formal wingers today (as Lalla isn't a proper winger), with Clyne and Richardson given licence to bomb up the wings.

The issue will be how we stop EVERTON's attacks down the flanks playing like that. We have firepower going forward, but are leaving ourselves exposed when Everton attack.

See ItchenDan's set up above - that is the way I have drawn it on my notepad too. :)
