NickG Posted 23 September, 2012 Share Posted 23 September, 2012 clubs management had earnt us trusting in them, but excellent summer for a newly promoted club has given us decent chance of moving forward: young international capt CB England u21 full back international keeper England u21 cover, long term back up for RL Pace added with young international forward, Africans nations top scorer experienced international capt for CM and potentially best player for a generation. Avenue Saint Posted 23 September, 2012 Share Posted 23 September, 2012 Have to agree. Proof is always in the pudding, and ours' (1 left back aside) is fast showing signs of getting sweeter and sweeter...
VectisSaint Posted 23 September, 2012 Share Posted 23 September, 2012 No LB, that's all..
Colinjb Posted 23 September, 2012 Share Posted 23 September, 2012 Our philosophy of only signing better then we have has been a little frustrating, it has led to us chasing a quality over quantity (shudder....) approach that has left us looking a little exposed at the back. We are still on the look out though, and every player we have bought recently (with the possible exception of Dickson and in the short time he has been here Rodriguez) has been able to settle in quickly and impress. Saint Charlie Posted 23 September, 2012 Share Posted 23 September, 2012 We missed out on Vlaar according to some. He is the only player I have ever seen Lambert outpace! On the whole some great business. There are easily 3 squads worse than ours.
saints_is_the_south Posted 23 September, 2012 Share Posted 23 September, 2012 I think we could have done with a LB & CB, but with regards to the players signed no complaints at all.
CB Fry Posted 23 September, 2012 Share Posted 23 September, 2012 We were missing a goalie up until yesterday. Not sure you can describe him as a summer transfer being that it wasn't done in the summer and isn't a transfer but there you go. He's in. Think a second centre back or a left back would have been useful too. We are injuries and suspensions away from looking very thin back there. But other than that, good business over all - delighted we haven't gone down the QPR route of Shuan Wright Phillips/Zamora/Kieron Dyer wage-drain deadbeats. This Charming Man Posted 23 September, 2012 Share Posted 23 September, 2012 As soon as Fox was taken off yesterday, we were a different side. Would've been interesting if we'd had a decent LB from the start. Might have picked up some points sooner. I still would've liked a proven Premiership CB but other than that, can't grumble too much. Which is a shame, I like a grumble.
Turkish Posted 23 September, 2012 Share Posted 23 September, 2012 Still a centre back and left back short. Hopefully we'll address that in January.

hypochondriac Posted 23 September, 2012 Share Posted 23 September, 2012 LB and CB would have been very useful I feel. Hopefully will not cost us long term. Possible we could still get someone in on a free anyway which would go ome way to addressing that.

Ohio Saint Posted 23 September, 2012 Share Posted 23 September, 2012 If we can get Clyne to play both sides simultaneously, we are sorted! I'm very impressed with our new signings. My only complaint is the stupid timing of the end of the window. It was crippling for the new teams that need to build their teams in the first few games when the existing sides already have a PL setup.
for_heaven's_Saint Posted 23 September, 2012 Share Posted 23 September, 2012 Worth comparing our line up against Coventry to our strongest line up now... Vs Cov: -------------Davis------------ Butterfield--Fonte--Hooiveld--Fox Guly--Hammond--Schniederlin--Lallana -----Lambert---Sharp------- Our subs that day were Cork, Puncheon, De Ridder, Harding, Bialkowski Now, our likely strongest line up might be: ------------Boruc-------------- Richardson--Fonte--Yoshida--Clyne ------Schniederlin--S. Davis-------- Puncheon----Ramirez----Lallana ------------Lambert----------- With a bench of Gazzanigga, Cork, Mayuka, Hooiveld, Ward-Prowse, Rodriguez, Lee
Ohio Saint Posted 23 September, 2012 Share Posted 23 September, 2012 I'm actually getting excited again about this season. We won't be getting relegated. If I were a woman, I'd be getting quite moist right now.
