saints_is_the_south Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 United beating Liverpool to keep us out of the relegation zone for the weekend. More importantly two direct relegation rivals playing today, QPR at Spurs KO at 4 and Norwich at Newcastle playing now, and the geordies have just taken the lead which bumps us up a place to 16th.
Colinjb Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 It's great that we managed to get through our horrible first few fixtures and not get cut adrift.
Cheese on Toast Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 It's great that we managed to get through our horrible first few fixtures and not get cut adrift. This, if someone told me that after the villa match, we wouldnt be in the relegation zone, i wouldnt have believe them
St.Jeweller Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 slowly climbing our way towards the Champions League
Ken Tone Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 This, if someone told me that after the villa match, we wouldnt be in the relegation zone, i wouldnt have believe them And above Liverpool
SNSUN Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 We've gained a place thanks to Norwich losing (currently). Gives me great satisfaction that does.
RobM Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 What all this proves is it's a long season and things can change quickly. It also proves that at this early stage, it's impossible to judge a teams true form. We're above Liverpool with more points and the same GD - how many think the season will end this way? My point is those who have been wetting themselves that we were bottom really should get out more, relax a little and gain some perspective.
CB Fry Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 It's great that we managed to get through our horrible first few fixtures and not get cut adrift. Not that hard really. We could have lost yesterday and still not be cut adrift.
Colinjb Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Not that hard really. We could have lost yesterday and still not be cut adrift. It was a possibility though, one that has been avoided.

That may be possible - depends on how bad the two injuries are. Looked like Ankle & Knee ligaments. The way Liverpool's luck seems to be going at the moment they could have some real early season problems. Youngest is a scouse fan (ex wife influence I'm afraid) and he is SERIOUSLY grumpy right now
CB Fry Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 It was a possibility though, one that has been avoided. Only pyshcologically. Statistically it is impossible to be cut adrift after five games. After five games the teams third/fourth/fifth from bottom were only ever likely to accumulate 2/3/4 points. 5 at most.
Ohio Saint Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 And to think that years ago nobody even published a table until after 5 games. If you wanted a table you had to get out a pencil and paper. Of course, my house was made of mud in those days.
Dr Who? Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Spurs are shocking, they are going to terrible season!
Cheese on Toast Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Spurs are shocking, they are going to terrible season! Agreed, I think they'll terrible all season
Colinjb Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Yago Falque on the bench for Spurs today.
Crab Lungs Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 ... but QPR are dogsh1t too... but not dogsh1t enough to be relegated. Liverpool bottom half finish, Norwich, Villa and Reading to go down.
