Tokyo-Saint Posted 24 September, 2012 Share Posted 24 September, 2012 We should adopt it and sing it for Marian Pahars, somehow it seems to fit.
Secret Site Agent Posted 24 September, 2012 Share Posted 24 September, 2012 We are no longer the Premier division paupers we used to be. If it is possible to imagine the Harry Enfield Brummie character, but in an Hampshire diallect, "We are considerably richer than you." You should accept that as financial muscle is something we now possess, do they really conclude that we are incapable of buying players who will be effective in this division? The purchase of Ramirez ought to highlight our ambition. In answer to Wes,I think it's the otherway round. If you see the clip where he's talking to the guy in the bar when they are on holiday, ( and go to 3:36) It's just like that.
Crazy Diamond Posted 24 September, 2012 Share Posted 24 September, 2012 The thing about clapping is that it tends to happen a lot at football games, so if anything it's a **** tribute. Whilst I dislike the Poznan, you can't really get away with saying you don't see it or understand it. Clapping at a particular moment when the opposition are more worried about their own team and what's happening on the pitch? Yeah we're real heartless bastards for A) Not understanding and B) Joining in. Apparently it's been in the news for months that that's what they do in the 19th minute, according to one Villa fan on Twitter. Must be on a different channel to the one I get my news from. I'm hearing about the state of the economy and unimportant stuff like that, not what a bunch of Brummies do in their football matches.

Tokyo-Saint Posted 24 September, 2012 Share Posted 24 September, 2012 Rubbish song my lord. No respect! As tributes to alcoholic ex footballers go, I would say it is definitely top 5.

anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 24 September, 2012 Share Posted 24 September, 2012 Even if I knew what they were doing and why they were doing it I still wouldn't join in. I hope he makes a full recovery but it has got **** all to do with me or the Saints. if the situation was reversed I wouldn't give a crap if others joined in. These hysterical tarts need to get a grip.

raynesparksaint Posted 25 September, 2012 Share Posted 25 September, 2012 The whole Petrov thing cracks me up. If they want to applaud at that point every game, fair play to them, it's a nice gesture. If opposition fans join in, that's nice as well. But there shouldn't be any obligation to do so. suewhistle Posted 25 September, 2012 Share Posted 25 September, 2012 Nah, my season ticket used to be Itchen central, now on-line dodgy streams. The point about chants like that is like dodgy jokes, it's all in the timing and spontaneity. Like having to explain jokes... Oh never mind. The9 Posted 25 September, 2012 Share Posted 25 September, 2012 Saw this on a Villa thread... >>>Must say before I turn in for the evening that there was virtually no applause on the 19th minute from the Southampton Fans for Stan. We found it incredibly disrespectful and let them no it with a rendition of 'No respect M'lord'. Some things are bigger than football as I hope we all discover tomorrow when Liverpool host Man Utd. Justice for the 96.>>> So they say I was disrespectful. How? I had no prior knowledge. I heard the applause and thought they must be clapping a sub or spotted a old player in the crowd! Perhaps if we (I) knew about it, I would have clapped!!!! I asked folks around me and no one knew anything about it either! thank you! I found out what it was whilst watching MotD, would have been more than happy to have joined in if maybe someone from Villa had mentioned it to, say, anyone. As for "no respect M'Lord", I had no idea that's what they were singing either.
scotty Posted 25 September, 2012 Share Posted 25 September, 2012 If this is how they react when the guy is in remission, I shudder to think what they'll do if he dies.
Pat from Poole Posted 25 September, 2012 Share Posted 25 September, 2012 I wonder what Villa fans do if there's a goal scored in the 19th minute. If they score it, do they refuse to celebrate and just carry on clapping? Or if they concede the goal, rather than berating their own players, do they just carry on clapping? The opposition would surely be humbled by such polite appreciation of their goal.

Thedelldays Posted 25 September, 2012 Share Posted 25 September, 2012 Why is it other clubs are now demanding the rest of the football world joins in with their tribute The guy is on the mend ffs I thought all the "pray for fabrice" got way over the top... But Bolton moved on after doing their tribute.. FFS
sandwichsaint Posted 25 September, 2012 Share Posted 25 September, 2012 A minutes silence for Gary Speed but not for Dean Richards, how does that work? I was quite happy to observe the Speed one, but it was a major bo.ll.ock from the club not to do one for Deano.
MongoNeil Posted 25 September, 2012 Share Posted 25 September, 2012 As other said, it's a nice gesture for their player, fair enough, but starting to judge other fans for it is utterly pathetic. How on earth are people supposed to know, why why should 19 sides join in twice a season? If you dare question these things or not join in 100% you're called insensitive etc. Yet my problem with it is always putting it before every other tragedy in the world. Fine, it's football, it's more relevant perhaps but if we're getting that carried away with the fate of a single person, how does anyone find time to sympathise with anything worse?! I felt sorry for all the non-famous people suffering similar (but more fatal!) attacks than Muamba around that time. Nevermind the whole notion of praying for someone is pretty sickening anyway. Why that person? Screw everyone else? If you believe praying can work, you have to then believe 99.99% of the time it doesn't, which would surely put anyone off their god. Bizarre. Pray for 3 points at Everton. I'm just not convinced god is that into English football to be honest. Top post! You insensitive bastard
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 25 September, 2012 Share Posted 25 September, 2012 its annoying me that we are labelled as the worst side and should be swept away because we lost 4 from 4...we played well at city...excellent against man u...spent a fortune..have an array of real attacking talent.....we now have more points than liverpool..(granted a false position for them).... just so ill informed and ignorant Right here is one of the reasons we should be thankful for our League 1 and Championship experience, it knocked the chip off our shoulder about our Premier Leauge 'mainstay' status. The law of averages states that at least 2 or 3 adults at SMS on saturday have children currently in hospital with either a haematological malignancy or a solid tumour - are they any less important or deserving? There is nothing wrong with Villa fans showing their appreciation for their player, but they are seriously strange if they believe it should somehow be mandatory that everyone joins in... and dont get me started on praying....
