Lets be honest Villa were bad today but wont go down - they played Swansea N Newcastle off the park in their last 2 games and will beat West Brom ..... Southampton are a poor side along with Norwich Reading and Wigan its gonna be 50/50 who go down!!!

Having witnessed their "ability" in the SPL, any team relying on Jos Hooiveld and Danny Fox as first-choice defenders is going to struggle! I'd be surprised if they keep a clean sheet all season if that pair are the best they've got. Both were murder for Celtic and were quickly shipped out.

And they never noticed Yoshida? Those Villa fans are truly ignorant.

its annoying me that we are labelled as the worst side and should be swept away because we lost 4 from 4...we played well at city...excellent against man u...spent a fortune..have an array of real attacking talent.....we now have more points than liverpool..(granted a false position for them)....

just so ill informed and ignorant

By coincidence I was at Villa Park for the Villa-Chelsea game back in March, which was the first 19th-minute ovation for Petrov. So naturally I clapped along and all that, but there's little reason why the bulk of Saints fans should know about it.

Villa aren't so bad, away support's always numerous and vocal - as it was yesterday - and there's a lot of sound guys amongst the gobby ****ebags (who of course are always the most noticeable). Sounds crazy, but their trouble is that they've never gone down. Since the 90s they've been stuck in a limbo of frustration - never as good as they think they should be, never so bad that their view of themselves is threatened. As a result they never stop believing in their right to wipe the floor with us or all the other "worst teams in the league"...hence being ****ed off ALL the time. Must be awful.

Skates......but less deluded then.

Villa fans i hope you read this were all laughing at you, accept you were beaten by the better side, we did when we played wigan.

I think there also find were be ok this season once Yoshi has settled and we sort out the LB problem, they need 3 1st team players and knowing bent he will jump ship if your not 4/5 points clear of bottom 3 in jan.

They really thought we were that **** then, that we're a 'championship team' and a 'poor side'. We're far superior to them all over the park IMO,

I can see why they thought they could get a point, or win just because we are just promoted and under a little bit of pressure...

But the comments out of hand about is being the worst team in the league and all that is just daft...they are woefully bad with some below average players.

Lowton, bannan, lichjai, etc are poor... And to say Lambert, lallana, Morgan, Clyne and Ramirez would not make their first 11...Not even one of them is pure ignorance because we got dicked by arsenal..... And arsenal team that are going to be excellent this year.

I'm sure villa have a tough set of fixtures coming up... Much like we had.. Be interesting to see where we all are after 10 games.....I think we will be on 8 points..... 1 win and 2 draws... In the next 5.....

Villa are the next Blackburn waiting to happen. Thought they were absolutely rubbish against us. Could barely muster a chance. Typical huff and puff team. I expect to see them right down there this season.

And as for the 19th minute applause. Pathetic. The man is in remission. Completely OTT and to expect us to join in with I warning is simply deluded.

So they voted for Given in their MoM poll even though he wasn't playing, serious fans huh.

It takes a particularly gormless type of idiot to base their opinions on the fact that last year we played in the Championship, do not have a complete squad of players with Premiership experience, therefore we must be crap.

This sort of position ignores several pertinent points which would be obvious to somebody with either more intelligence, or somebody more knowledgeable about football. Those posters will have considered the following:-

Adkins is a good manager, having a career record of promotion success, both with Scun thorpe and Saints. Therefore clearly he is no mug when it comes to selecting a team and getting them to win games.

We are no longer the Premier division paupers we used to be. If it is possible to imagine the Harry Enfield Brummie character, but in an Hampshire diallect, "We are considerably richer than you." You should accept that as financial muscle is something we now possess, do they really conclude that we are incapable of buying players who will be effective in this division? The purchase of Ramirez ought to highlight our ambition.

Ignorant fans make their judgements on the strength of four matches and our position at the bottom of the table. We're obviously relegation fodder. The more sensible observers like the pundits, assess our future prospects on who those matches were played against and how we played them. Nothing was realistically expected of us as a newly promoted side when we had the three top teams in the Premiership amongst our early fixtures. But we gained respect from those pundits when we went 2-1 against City and United. This should have been taken into account by those who wrote us off. We were capable of scoring goals, even against the some of the most expensive and experienced defenders in European football.

We have a Championship team comprising Championship players? This is something that seems to have escaped fans of other teams, that although we have retained some players from the third division, those are players who like Lambert have the ability to play at any level, or else they are youngsters with the promise to make it at the highest level, such as Lallana.

Just recently, there have been claims from rival fans that not one single player from our team would get into their first teams. This even from Flyer of QPR.:lol: Apart from the very top glory teams like Chelski and Man City / United, this is debatable. At least three of our players look capable of walking into most other teams; Ramirez, Lambert and Lallana. One or two others would walk into several Premiership clubs' teams and some promising youngsters like J-WP and Shaw will soon come into the category of being able to walk into even the top teams, as they are already watching them.

We ought to make the most of this underestimation of our potential prowess. It obviously suits us and long may it continue. The longer it continues that rival fans take this position, the funnier it will be as we rack up wins against more and more of them.

I dont know why people are getting themselves at it about what Villa fans though, why does anyone care? It's the typical thing when a team gets tonked. Arsenal were full of gushing praise for themselves and the way they demolished us with some brilliant football, we blamed Fox, Davis, the midfield etc for not closing down and not being good enough. The roles are reversed this week. The reality, as is often the case, is somewhere inbetween.

I think Villa are one of the dullest teams in the UK, stuck in a mid table rut year after year, going through the motions.

They are a bit Coventry'esque circa 10-15 years ago.

However their world might be about to get interesting, they could get relegated. Would shake them up a bit.

The only bright spot is their manager who I rate but he's really got his work cut out at that comatose club.

Agree completely, cant keep selling best players and relying on cheap replacements and youth. Ireland is not all that, but without him they fell apart. Says it all

A spell in the NPC will do them good.

TBH I think we played some better teams in the NPC last season Blackpool and Hull were much better last season than Villa were on saturday. Hard to judge though Villa fans seemed to think they played like Barca against Swansea and Newcastle....so maybe they just had an off day.

I don't think Villa are being very well managed at all. In theory Lambert is a good manager but some of his player choices on Saturday seemed strange.A lot of fairly young players where they have experienced men available. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see him get sacked soon if their results don't pick up, perhaps not before Rogers though cos he's just doing a f*ck awful job.

To be fair to them both they have inherited a mess and teams in decline. It's going to take a couple of seasons to really judge them and for them to make an impact. I dont agree about Rogers at all, he's a very good young manager who is bringing through some decent young players and he'll get it right there. But he's going to need time.

I don't really care what other fans think, and probably the examples given above are not a true reflection of the views of Villa fans. There are idiots on both sides of the fence. Just look at this forum - Nigel is not good enough, KD is carp, Fonte is not PL standard, Punch should be taken away and publicly flogged, Rickie should be dropped, Adam's performance levels have fallen since his England call-up, 12M was too much to spend on one player (Ramirez!), S Davis is not up to it.....etc. All these quite recent in one form or another. Too much emotion, chaps. In the old days, when we lost, we just went home and ate our Saturday tea in gloomy silence. When we won, we read the matchday programme over and over again in satisfaction. It's just football. We will probably get spanked at Everton and we will be written off once more. Deal with it. I for one am just looking forward to watching the partnership develop between Rickie and Gaston - it will be something which other fans can't fail to notice in time.

Doubt they'll get it though come Christmas if they look like relegation fodder their chairmen will panic......

I watched them against Newcastle last week, good going forward but a bit lightweight at the back at times. It could be that Gaston and Rickie give them a torrid time, depends if we could shut down Leighton Baines.

Someone who clearly revels in someone else's suffering so they can prove to everyone "how much they care" and "what a nice person they are".

A c()nt, basically.

Reminds me in many ways of that woman at Bompey's fans' forum where Mitchell kicked off and told them to support us. Remember her?

Sadly football is full of morons like that. A simple post on here would have told us all we needed to know - Villa fans need to remember they're not exactly Man City, where the Poznan is something known up and down the country due to its publicity.

No such post was made, so we didn't know about it. They're going to call us disrespectful because of their laziness?
