paulwantsapint Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Adam is so infuriating He plays fantastic up until he gets a sight of goal He along with srl & gr have superb vision & passing I know getting into the right position is the important thing but he needs to be ruthless But I know I would rather have him in a saints shirt then have to face him Hoping this has same effect as when I posted similar post last season (he started scoring)
The Majestic Channon Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 He did a carbon copy cut back onto his right and lost possesion v skates last season, that one had me fuming.
david in sweden Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 I was thinking the same thing - especially after his great chance in the second half when he " took too long " and lost the advantage. In the Wigan match, he has several first half shots on goal - all of which missed / were squandered and might have changed the complexion of that game. No-one doubts his ability, or talent but the " weight " of the captain's leadership role is difficult to assess - unless you actually have the task. I don't think he's wrong as captain.....( though a fully-fit Steven Davis would do as well, I'm sure) ...but everyone goes through spells of good play, and he may suddenly come good in a week or two.
The Majestic Channon Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Having said that, i thought adam was almost as worthy for MOM as gaston yesterday
Frank's cousin Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Sold Adam to Spurs for 12.5m on FM, spent 1.4 on Luigi Falcone who the scouts said would never make it long term, and he scored 33 goals for me in his first season at 19! ;-) Easy this lark, surely? Oh and Gaston went to Man Utd for 16.5mil, Clyne to Asenal for 6.5!!! Adam, is quality and still only 24, if anything his loyalty has probaby held him back a little, had he moved to a prem club at 21, by now he would be a 20mil+ player IMHO. When this squad really gells, and we are better organised in defence, Lee still to come back... I make a prediction now - If we can survive this season, which I think we will, and Ramirez is not sold for 30mil in the summer, Next season I predict we will finish top 8.
egg Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Tin hat time. I don't think shooting as such is his problem, but rather that he's generally a little bit slow to react and execute. That's been evident ever seen I started watching him as a nipper and is the factor that has prevented a very good player from becoming a top player.
Jonnyboy Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Brilliant player but always takes one too many touches in the penalty area. Already seen a lot of it this season...
sotonjoe Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Had a chance to score the fourth yesterday in front of the northam but tried to come back inside onto his right foot, instead of using his left. If he's so one footed I've no idea why we don't use him on the right more often.
itchen_dan Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Seems to me all of a sudden since the end of last season and start of this one, he always seems to favour shooting with his left foot? The amount of times (I've lost count) he has broke through down the left, cut inside and got it onto his right foot ready to curl it and have a shot, he always seems to do ANOTHER Cruyff turn back onto his left and then either slices it or puts it well wide. Extremely infuriating. Apart from that, his build up play has been exceptional up until the final 1/4 of the pitch.
stevegrant Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 It's incredible that a player who's scored 44 goals from midfield in the last three seasons does so often look like he's never taken a shot in his life when he gets into great positions
BotleySaint Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 It's incredible that a player who's scored 44 goals from midfield in the last three seasons does so often look like he's never taken a shot in his life when he gets into great positions Indeed which suggests to me the problem is merely in his head. Once the first couple go in I think he'll be fine. The ability is clearly still there its just a mental thing, perhaps a bit of unbelief. "Am I really good enough for the Premiership?" Well yes Adam, you bloody well are. Follow your instincts!
Ohio Saint Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Terrifying thread title!!! You saved me some typing there!!! (Ironic really, I just did a ton more typing explaining that!) But yes, Adam needs to stop over thinking his shot. He has the talent, but seems to lack confidence in that department. He always seems to want to set it up juuuuuust right
JoeShmoe Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 He had 2 or 3 good opportunities against ManU as well where he maybe could have done better
CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Scoring is probably a aspect of his game he could work on, but why single Adam out when the rest of the midfield aren't exactly prolific either are they? I understand that even a player as manifestly talented as Gaston Ramirez has 'only' scored 15 goals in the last two seasons. Every team is on the perennial look out for goal scoring midfielders - they're pretty thin on the ground unfortunately. I've not the slightest doubt that Adam Lallana will chip in a fair number of goals for us this season - he always does.
Cheese on Toast Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 I read the title of this thread and though he'd been assasinated
