How many will Lambert score this season................

If you had to guess? I see he is already up among the PL top scorers:)

4 S. Fletcher (Sunderland)

4 R. Lambert (Southampton)

4 M. Michu (Swansea)

4 R. van Persie (Man Utd)

3 D. Ba (Newcastle)

Long way to go but I could see him getting around 20 if he carries on the way he is going which would be very impressive at this level.

Lambert was running the show yesterday both verbally and with his feet,he was talking to and directing players,he was letting players know what he expected but more importantly he was doing a lot of other important stuff like defending and playing to create stuff for other players....it almost looked as if Nigel had given him a free role.....superb.

I reckon he's on for 20+ goals.

He'll get 20 at least. There'll be a smattering of penalties in that figure, as we have some very tricky players who will get into the box and cause problems for some defences.

I reckon on 18. NA has the front line playing very fluidly and that suits Lambo, Adam, Puncheon and Gaston, also playing a higher line too. It's when that clicked yesterday that we tore Villa apart. You could see Lambo and Gaston in all kind's of space.

Obviously he will only get one more since Paul Merson said he would only score five and those pundits are always right, aren´t they?

If he makes that fifth before christmas we might as well sell him in the january window

The9 ' I don't think he'll score 10 this season'

Rabbit ' ill bet you a tenner that he'll score at least 10 then'

The9 'nah'

Rabbit 'right.....'

Anyhoo... I'm thinking around 15.

The9 tell us why he won't score 10 and why you won't take a dead cert bet then ;)

I don't care what the9 tells me..

lambert is and will always be a saints legend.....best £1m signing EVER

Espeically when you compare him to 24 million pound Darren Bent playing at the other end of the pitch yesterday:lol:

£30m+ of strikers for them...and lambert made them both look like utter morons...

When I think back to when we signed him, Huddersfield were concerned that he was at the end of his career and had no sell-on value. I remember their fans chanting at him when we lost at their place, all seems a bit short - sighted now.

I think Lambert ****ged his missus or something.

Already regretting not putting some dosh on him for top scorer this season... Wasn't he 75-1 or something stupid at one point?

I didn't learn from this mistake last year either (when he was 20-1 at the start of the season if memory serves)

He can't play up front on his own FFS.

Merson reckoned he wouldn't score 5 'playing for Southampton' this season

He's already trying to backtrack and claim penalties don't count

Humble pie on the menu

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson predicted before the start of the season that Rickie Lambert would not score more than five league goals for Southampton over the 38-game campaign. Well, Lambert already has four, and there was something beautifully predictable about the fact he netted a brace against Merson's old club Aston Villa on Saturday

It's not just how many he'll score, it's how any he'll assist too. I think 15-20 which is a fair haul, maybe more if we're lucky with penalties, but I reckon he'll get the assists too. How many assists did Grant Holt get last season? I bet Lambert to beat that stat.

Well he's got a few already, (assists)Schinderlins header v Man U, was it his pass to Puncheon? Also a great ball through to Mayuka to win the penalty.

In the The9's defense, i would say playing away with Rickie upfront is a different proposition and requires different skills. He's the best we've got but I can certainly see more room for rotation and experimentation player-wise, if not formation-wise in these games. And before you mention the Man City goal, we had already committed to throwing people forward and giving Rickie more support. None of this changes the fact that he's a class player.

It's a real pity Rickie came back from the season break overweight.I know at one stage Adkins was putting feeders out that Lambert could be available as a rocket up his arse.He will soon be playing for England at this rate as the papers will start to mention it more.

8 more to bring up his ton for the club... what a milestone that'll be in only his fourth season.

A far cry from northampton in the first round of the carling cup. He's almost destined to get it at Anfield on December 1.

Was that when Speedie and Dixon played for Saints?!

It was in no way intended as a serious comment, and should have used an emoticom, purely a reference to the idiotic comment made by Branfoot many years ago. (Its a generation thing ! )

Not sure if his comment now amuses or still rankles, probably both.

It would be a dream him he got top scorer. Literally he should just retire. Golden boot in all divisions and no caps for England. Considering he gave up football and worked in a factory to get where he is today... he is already a legend and a fantastic role model. He will always be a saint when he's done and it almost feels like he is getting everything he deserves season by season. I don't think you can doubt his determination to achieve his goals nor his ability and work ethic to actually achieve them. He says he wants the golden boot and to get an England cap... I would not bet substantially against him. He'll get 20+ no prob if he stays injury free. But I want to see him and Adam in an England team together. **** it if we go down.. but those 2 in white would make any season for me.
