Nigel Adkins

Well done Nigel Adkins, he was under massive pressure today, even though he would not admit it.

Thought our supporters were brilliant to keep chanting his name throughout the match, that would have meant a lot to him.

His substitutions were called right today as well.

The whole team played as a solid unit, Davis was an unsung hero in midfield.

I dont care if we only survive relegation by the skin of our teeth this season. Nigel is a top, top manager who did exceptionally well to oversee two promotion campaigns. He deserves at least one full season and a good go at the next one before anyone should even consider changing him. We changed managers every five minutes last time we were in the prem and look where that got us.

One Nigel Adkins - :smug:

What great comments from the Foxes. How refreshing to see so many sensible comments from fans. I worked in Leicester for many years and always watch out for their results particularly now that Pearson is there. I hope they go up.

as i see it only people calling for his head were the media who will stir the sh*t against us every chance they get' date=' they do not like NC and will remember his track record with the Sun.[/quote']

Feck em I say... best thing about it all was no 'his job is safe' boll ox eminating from the club - just ignore and they get bored. I know some will say its important to try and work teh media, but why? They spout rubbish anyway unless you are a 'arry rent a gob' type and its always a distraction... good to see a different attitude in that we do our talking on the pitch, the rest is our business is done with the professionalism of any other business, in confidence.

Sure it will mean that we are subject to made up rubbish, (which will get worse if we manage to progress to safety and up the table a little - but as long as we dont have gullable fans who believe the tripe, we should remain as one.

We are SFC and we are professional and not media whores (and glad it pishes them off - afterall looking at the decent write ups in the better quality press, its clear it only the sad comic red tops that have an issue....)

But on the Subject of NA being sacked - Ultimately it will and IMHO should come down to performance in line with expectation - NA will have been gioven a target this season, which is between him and NC - if he achieves that or better he will stay, if not, like in any job, discussions will be had, but the reality is always that as NICE as it would be to be loyal and patient with someone who is Going to be a great manager, whilst he learns the ropes at the top tier, the financial invetsment and risk associated with that means that its not always easy to do what is NICE. NC is responsible for the club - and with that responsibilty comes the need to often make difficult and what appear harsh decisions, as well as unpopular ones.

IMHO NA has shown enough so far to show he is very capable, despite a few errors (which are down to inexperience and will be eliminated with time), but ultimately it will be about points as well as quality of performance - and whilst I want to see Adkins here for years to come, I could understand if a chnage was made if we were bottom 3 come Christmas... as sad as that would be. If NC stickes with Adkins and we are relegated, the very same folk who would criticise NC for 'sacking him too early or at all' are those that would criticise NC for not acting soon enough... NC cant win in some folks eyes and thats why we have this ridiculous issue.

NC has got the sort of manager he wants-young, modern, thoughtful and with integrity- he is not going to swap that for any of the unemployed old lags who have been round the block a dozen times, even if things get tight. Anyway, with the squad he's building, things won't get tight.

....seems like Leicester fans appreciate the challenge of the first four games much better than some of our own have !

IF ...we turn round in November and are clear of the relegation zone say that.... we'd narrowly lost to Man.City (a)...Man Utd (h) and got destroyed at the Emirates... few people would raise an eyebrow or make any comment ...

I said on here some time ago that I predicted he could become our Sir Alex. Just wait and see - stability and focus on the right KPI's will get the club results unlike anything we've experienced before - it'll just take time to steadily build and shape it into the finished article. But also remember that NA is just one (important) cog in the wheel - there's so much more going on behind the scenes to make Saints a massive club.

I honestly think the scenario is more likely that the likes of Liverpool or Villa will try to poach Adkins through a carefully constructed media campaign designed to destabalise us, due to thier appauling form.

Yep. Two clubs with managers 5 games into their long term squad rebuilding plans will definitely be looking to use the anti Saints agenda the media have to drive Nigel away.

Personally I think he's a brilliant manager and have done since he was appointed. I don't want any old has beens in charge. Who would we get that's so much better- from the Prem? I'd have Sir Alex Ferguson, Wenger.. or Moyes (perhaps the only likely one out of the three). I honestly wouldn't want any of the others, including Mancini - because I don't think any of them are any BETTER than our Nigel.

No, I want him(NA) on a long contract. I love his signings- made I'm sure with lots of discussions with a "buying" team- recently- and believe that we will surprise a lot this season and be in the top ten- nearer 6th by the end of the season- (see my prediction before the season started!)

I love his positivity...it's catching!

Thats the impression I'm left with - I haven't heard one saints fan say they want rid of NA (saying that theres probably a few nutters on here tho').

Definitely biting his bottom lip as he acknowledged all four sides of the ground. Great moment.

Must be special when to a man (& woman) the whole home crowd are signing your name, and when you have plied your trade in some of the backwaters of football to hear it from the folks that matter in a great stadium even more so.

I heard some time ago when Pardew was shown the door Adkins was identified as being by far and away at the very top of the list of candidates but wanting to do it right they made sure it was done right especially where the Iron were concerned, let the media play their games in the mean time. After what he as achieved these past 2 seasons I really can't see the club turfing him out at the merest wobble, Cortese may be a hard barsteward but he ain't stupid. The fact that his long term contract was nailed down less than 6 months into his life with Saints and during his probationary period should say a lot with regards to the relationship.
