Lallana for me. I though Yoshida read the game so much better than defenders that we have recently had, and seems to have a really good head on his shoulders. Clyne was good second half. Ramirez - looking forward to seeing more of him. Mayuka might also be interesting. And good to see RL bagging goals.

Well done to all of them......listening to Talk****e on way to the game, they were mocking us. Hopefully today's result is the first of many so that they journos can shove it where the sun don't shine.

Lambert, only just watched the match after recording it. he was utterly dominant in their half, especially in the second half. Very strong and they were very rightly very wary of him. He was everything a centre forward should be. Despite Ramirez being very classy, I thought Lambert was the best player on the pitch.

Ramirez was utter quality but (and this may sound a bit weird) I thought he played within himself. In that, he'll get even better than that. Today he was superb just by doing the easy things very well, and by doing the slightly more difficult things with a complete air of class and confidence. He is a truly top class player.

That said, I voted for Nathaniel Clyne today. First half he was good, second half he was sublime (and he did that playing out of position). Full of energy, drive and class, his goal was the least he deserved from a great display.

Also a mention for Steven Davis, absolutely superb in breaking up play and very good with the ball at his feet. He really kept the team ticking over and put in a proper shift in the middle.

Couldn't disagree more. Ramirez makes Lallana look silly. Lallana doesn't know when to play it.

Totally disagree on that. Lallana was awful last week but was a captains performance today. Was easily as good as Ramierez and dragged us back into it. We should be thankful that we have both, will be a nightmare to mark. His trickery on the ball was awesome and created space for Ramirez to play his passes. Villa didn't know where the threat was coming from 2nd half as here was so much confidence and quality on the ball. If only Lallana coud shoot...

I have to say I'm stunned that Ramirez's game is so highly rated' date=' he looked impressive in the last 20 minutes but I thought he strolled around doing his best to avoid the ball in the first half. [/quote']

That's the stupidest thing anyone's said on this forum since that bloke said Sharp would play more than Lambert this season. :D

Was interesting to see how often Lambert started or ended up on the wing today, excellent performance with him and Ramirez switching and supporting each other. Nice to see Mayuka show what can happen with some pace in behind on the end of both Ramirez and Lambert's passes as well.

The future, I hope. Good goal from Punch today, but the forward three of Lambert, Ramirez and Mayuka were abolsutely superb and rotated positions so well. Where Puncheon cuts inside so much, Mayuka offers the option of getting beyond the defenders and causing much more trouble.
