Fox and the Defense

The old maxim .... "Don't change a winning Team" OR "If it aint broke, don't fix it"

Sorry, but I honestly do not think Jos is Prem Quality

Fonte was much more confident, because he had dependable Quality around him, and the defence looked solid and confident also, because they had someone between the sticks who commande his area, and was assured of what he was doing. It will be a bad call if NA drops Gazza for Everton IMHO

I think we all know that one, but yesterdays win (though eagerly anticipated).... was not won in the way we all expected.

I'm very grateful for the 3 points, but I'm sure it wasn't won in the manner that NA expected either.

The fact that we " experimented " with Gazzaniga in goal worked, (although TBF he scarcely had that much to do....)

.or, that the " forced experiment " of switching Clyne to LB.. .also worked..... especially as Richardson didn't let the side down, either....

Yoshida showed he has class,...... even if it was his first full game, and Mayuka proved that he can " motor " too.

We are in an " experimental phase " and (as I had written before) ...may well end this season with only 3- 4 of last seasons' first team regulars still in place, and I expect to see Artur Boruc in goal next Saturday at Everton, too. This is the time to bring in the new faces..... and find a formula that will work .....for the remaining 33 games, and it may well take a bit more time.

Fox was awful on Saturday and has been all season. He gives the ball away far too much with lacklustre passing and hopeless long balls. He is slow to react and often gets caught jogging back when there's an opposition player in front of him storming down the wing. He's been at fault for several goals this season. I thought he was alright in the Championship and he's just that: a Championship defender. He is hideously out of his depth in this division.

I'd like to imagine he'll at least get dropped to give Shaw a chance, now it's so clear how we improve without him.

I personally don't want to see Shaw anywhere near the first team in the League for a while yet. It seems that NA preferred an

injured Fox to Shaw these last couple of games and there must be a reason for that. I expect to see Clyne carry on at LB for a while now unless Maya can play there and moves over when Jos is fit.
