Barry the Badger Posted 22 September, 2012 Posted 22 September, 2012 Delighted that we are two one up. But.... We just spent the first ten minuteof the second half trying to start oh when the saints, but nobody was interested. Shocking atmosphere and this score is despite the fans rather than because of them. You are a bunch of miserable bastards. ****ing sing, and not just when we're winning.

We aren't a typical small team getting into the big time so it isn't going to be a big party every game. We have higher expectations.
paris Posted 22 September, 2012 Posted 22 September, 2012 I bet that changed after the third & fourth n'est pas ?
Noodles34 Posted 22 September, 2012 Posted 22 September, 2012 ridiculous OP, i said to me mate it would be flat in the 1st half, we are all well nervous, just concentrating on the game, until we were winning, anyway, I much prtefer "Sing when we're winning, we only sing when we're winning", we should take it on full time.

Nerves or not we should be trying to lift the players. Today they had to do it by themselves.

ant Posted 22 September, 2012 Posted 22 September, 2012 Well moaning and groaning has never lifted the team, that's for sure. Got some sh*t for suggesting as much at half time. In the Northam that was actually the best atmosphere at home so far this season and we had the place rocking after an hour (so much so that a mate in Portswood said he could hear us). Just a shame that it seems to take us going ahead for people to pipe up at the moment.
doddisalegend Posted 22 September, 2012 Posted 22 September, 2012 Nah, can't agree with that. Nerves or not we should be trying to lift the players. Today they had to do it by themselves. Best song of the day "There is only one Nigel Adkins......... one Nigel Adkins" if there was any doubt were most saints fans stand on Nigel it was loud and clear today

trousers Posted 22 September, 2012 Posted 22 September, 2012 Fair play to the Villa fans...I thought they were superb in the first half. Some of the loudest fans I've heard at St Marys
Noodles34 Posted 22 September, 2012 Posted 22 September, 2012 Fair play to the Villa fans...I thought they were superb in the first half. Some of the loudest fans I've heard at St Marys apart from after the match on Brttania Rd, what a bunch of cocks!
Barry the Badger Posted 22 September, 2012 Author Posted 22 September, 2012 Did you actually make this thread whilst at the game? That's some impressive moaning Yes. Yes I did. Had spent twenty minutes trying to get an atmosphere going, don't really care if I'm moaning. That was ****, utterly ****. Well done for getting the place rocking when we scored. Hooray us.
Dig Dig Posted 22 September, 2012 Posted 22 September, 2012 apart from after the match on Brttania Rd, what a bunch of cocks! What happened there?
Noodles34 Posted 22 September, 2012 Posted 22 September, 2012 What happened there? they were just being a bunch of knobs, trying it on, old bill had them under the cost though.
Barry the Badger Posted 22 September, 2012 Author Posted 22 September, 2012 yaaaaawwwwwnnnnn That's an excellent impression of what many fans in the Northam were doing at 1-0 down

sotonjoe Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Fair point from the OP. Having moved to the Northam this season, the atmosphere has been disappointing to say the least. People will sing prematch and for the first few minutes, but if Saints don't score early it goes very flat. We started a few songs at the beginning of the 2nd half yesterday and only sections of the stand were joining in. The majority were too busy getting stroppy with the team whenever a move broke down. As soon as we started scoring, they all started bloody singing again. Seems that plenty of us seem to think we're good, loud supporters, but the reality in the Northam stand would suggest quite the opposite for large patches of matches.

Orange Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Its nothing new though. They're the same fans who'd sing all the hilarious renditions of 'you're not singing anymore'..etc, to the away fans once we're in the lead.
Ohio Saint Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 I was singing "Old MacDonald had a farm" Luckily, nobody could hear me from my location. Worst thread ever? High five anyone?
Barry the Badger Posted 23 September, 2012 Author Posted 23 September, 2012 Maybe watch the ****ing game and support the team before having a pop at everyone else. Haha, fantastic. I spent 30 seconds writing this after spending 10 minutes at the start of the second half singing my ****ing heart out whilst the miserable bastards all around us stood in silence. I've never posted on here during a match before, but I was ****ed off with the lack of effort made by the majority around me to help lift the team. So don't talk to me about supporting the team, mate.
sfc4prem Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Loved everyone standing up and belting out the old "One Nigel Adkins" with arms aloft.
Turkish Posted 23 September, 2012 Posted 23 September, 2012 Seriously. Why would anyone at a match post on an internet forum having pop at and telling people who were at the match as well what to do? Odd behaviour.

"Oh look Barry reckons we should all be singing... let's get to it" Or are you just trying to be some sort of Uber Fan?

Like everybody is at SMS continually refreshing SWF. "Oh look Barry reckons we should all be singing... let's get to it" Or are you just trying to be some sort of Uber Fan It was something that ****ed me off at the time, so I put it on here, in the hope that next time perhaps people will have a think about supporting the team even when we aren't winning. Short of speaking individually to each person standing in silence this seemed like the next best option. I accept that posting during the match was a bit stupid, bit by that point we were winning and the support was excellent. I know some will feel that fans should refrain from criticizing others, ever, but I find it so frustrating that we seem to expect the team to lift us when times get tough, not vice versa.

Only pulling your leg. I guess different people do different things. I don't mind people not singing but I do hate it when they ***** and moan and get on player's backs. It was a nerve racking day yesterday until the goals started going in and I guess people react differently - some will sing and shout, others will go quiet and chew their nails. I do see your point though.

I'll give us a pass on this one since being 1-0 down at home and staring down the barrel of a 5th straight loss I think a lot of clubs would have struggled to really get the atmosphere going. In future though we should be noisier regardless of the score barring the game being a total disaster.
