Saints V Villa Match Thread!!

SOTONS EAST SIDE

Passing has been terrible. Too ponderous and then straight to a Villa player. Lambert has been shocking, Schneiderlin as well. where was Gazzaniga when Bent strolled up to the ball and rolled it in in the 6 yard box. What the **** was Puncheon doing. Clyne has been terrible, Lallana can't hit a cows arse with a banjo. It's just been a terrible terrible first half. we have to do better or Adkins is finished.

We've been a bit blunt, our passing is awful and our defending is rash. Villa are nullifying our attack considerably. Lallana was onside, as they say luck doesn't go your way when you're at the bottom. That is the hardest call to make as an Assistant Referee judging the crossover to the point where the ball is kicked but at that level it's a little disappointing if they get it wrong.

Fox has been crap, Lambert is having another stinker too - not the best decision maker on the field.

That would not stop us giving the ball away in our own third.... Puncheon and golden bollix Clyne pishing about... I thought Fonte and Yoshida looked good generally

I think the fact that puncheon keeps cutting in or running at clyne when clyne comes forward is contributing to this - punch needs to be attacking the byline to spread the defenders and create more pass options

Doesn't sound too bad, all depends how they get on second half. Infinitely better than Arsenal obviously, just feel they desperately need an early lead in one of these home games they're expected to win. We can moan about the defence all day, but as with Wigan, the attack needs to help out by taking chances.

I don't think Clyne's a bad player but we (as a team) have got to cut out the silly mistakes which invite pressure... It's not as if Villa aren't hoofing out when they need to. Although Fox was a bit static it was what led up to that that counted, plus I don't think Ireland knew where his kick into the ground was going either.

Wish Puncheon would occasionally drive outside, or at least not turn back all the time. Interesting sub - Frazer for Fox...
