The transfer window is closed and Upson is a Stoke City player.

Hypothetically, could his contract be terminated 'by mutual consent' and likewise someone in our squad (e.g. Forte). Pompey have been flexing the football rules for the best part of a decade now so surely no-one would notice if we did a little jiggery pokey with a couple of players contracts...

I'm sure if there are ''extraordinary circumstances'' (i.e Jos's injury keeping him out for months, Seaborne still not match fit) then they may allow us to squeeze him in.

Fonte has done nothing thus far to inspire confidence and has played in a defence that has conceded a shed load of goals over four games. If nothing else we would be interested because if two of our CBs get injured we have Seaborne as backup. We pretty much have no options at CB unlike the rest of the positions in the squad.

Yes they could in the same way that Stoke asked for dispensation to change their 25 man squad and sign Owen. No idea what would happen if we tried it on with both Gordon and Upson though

We only named 23 players in that list so have two free spaces we could use for Gordon and Upson.

This depends whether that "3 over-21 goalkeepers" rule exists or not though... we could sign Gordon, certainly. Upson is not free, and even if he was, see the last sentence.
