Ditto at Silvestre and my Grandad who could do a better job than Fox It is worse then "horse-****", he is unaware that Southampton can't loan or buy anyone until January 2013. The transfer window is closed and Upson is a Stoke City player.

trousers Posted 17 September, 2012 Share Posted 17 September, 2012 It is rubbish, he cannot sign for another Premier League team until January 2013. Hypothetically, could his contract be terminated 'by mutual consent' and likewise someone in our squad (e.g. Forte). Pompey have been flexing the football rules for the best part of a decade now so surely no-one would notice if we did a little jiggery pokey with a couple of players contracts... I'm sure if there are ''extraordinary circumstances'' (i.e Jos's injury keeping him out for months, Seaborne still not match fit) then they may allow us to squeeze him in. There would surely be the demand to recall Aaron "Not featuring for Crystal Palace" Martin first though?

St Chalet Posted 17 September, 2012 Share Posted 17 September, 2012 (edited) Hypothetically could Stoke terminate his contract, then he can sign for a European club, who could cancel his contract, and as long as he hasn't played for both the two sides he could join as a free agent? Feck me, a pig just flew by the window. Edited 17 September, 2012 by St Chalet

hypochondriac Posted 17 September, 2012 Share Posted 17 September, 2012 Panic buying. Pathetic that we didn't get anyone else in. Our defensive performances (particularly against the powerhouse of wig an) has been so poor

hypochondriac Posted 17 September, 2012 Share Posted 17 September, 2012 Id rather have Fonte, Upson is utter dog Premiership experience. Fonte has done nothing thus far to inspire confidence and has played in a defence that has conceded a shed load of goals over four games. If nothing else we would be interested because if two of our CBs get injured we have Seaborne as backup. We pretty much have no options at CB unlike the rest of the positions in the squad. Smirking_Saint Posted 18 September, 2012 Share Posted 18 September, 2012 Even if they did that, Saints couldn't register him to play until January. Yes they could in the same way that Stoke asked for dispensation to change their 25 man squad and sign Owen. No idea what would happen if we tried it on with both Gordon and Upson though

No idea what would happen if we tried it on with both Gordon and Upson though I read an article on us trying to sign Gordon and it said clubs are free to sign as many free agents as they want after the window closes up to the point where they have 25 men named in their squad list. We only named 23 players in that list so have two free spaces we could use for Gordon and Upson.
ottery st mary Posted 18 September, 2012 Share Posted 18 September, 2012 Upson has got less legs than Gordon...... Gordon has only got one leg...... The treatment table would get more use.. We are not going to the knackers yard for our players.... Do you get my drift;) COYS

This depends whether that "3 over-21 goalkeepers" rule exists or not though... we could sign Gordon, certainly. Upson is not free, and even if he was, see the last sentence.
