Horton Heath Saint Posted 18 September, 2012 Share Posted 18 September, 2012 Give us all a break, The Board, The Manager, The Team, The Fans. Let's all get behind Southampton Football Club, we've had a real tough few years, the Club needs backing and support, especially now, easy to put boot in and start putting blame on this and that, we all have to be together and support The Board, The Manager and The Team. To get to where we are now has been a massive achievement in such a short time, we all know it's going to be a long hard season, sure we will be ok, as long as we all keep together. david in sweden Posted 18 September, 2012 Share Posted 18 September, 2012 now that sounds a bit more realistic, but wait for the bombarding posters who already have us back in the Championship, after losing ......to the three of the best sides ...in Europe . dubai_phil Posted 18 September, 2012 Share Posted 18 September, 2012 I tell you what, outside the obvious top 3 the best footballing team I have seen this season are you lot. I was amazed, even though you got battered you still played good football. Nobody else comes close to the way you guys are playing and the quality you have in your team. That youngster jeez, he has an eye for a pass and that French bloke - how the hell is he playing for you? That number 10 in the second half, who the hell was that? I tell you what mate, you have nothing to worry about, you're one of the best footballing teams in the division, I'm glad we played you early on or we could have got a proper stuffing. OK so you made a couple of mistakes, but that is always going to happen not only are you new to the PL but your lads are all still very young No way you lot are going to struggle this year Good mate of mine and massive ManUre fan tonight down the pub
tajjuk Posted 19 September, 2012 Share Posted 19 September, 2012 Like that above ^ Heard similar 'plaudits' from other mates. Thing is though it's a football discussion forum, we are bottom of the league and just got thrashed, meaning the things people discuss are likely to be negative, doesn't mean they aren't behind the club though. There are plenty of positives, there are also some negatives and areas for improvement, if would be foolish to ignore them as it is foolish to only concentrate on the positives. Yes we were almost not a club 3 years ago and where we are now is amazing, doesn't mean we should also just be happy that we have this opportunity, we have to make sure we are making the most of it. Thedelldays Posted 19 September, 2012 Share Posted 19 September, 2012 It's true about fans who care little about saints. The ones watching the city games were very impressed and were loving us against united As for arsenal.... A newly promoted team going to arsenal when they are on it is going to have a very hard day.... We won't be the only team to get dicked there.... Amazing what non Saints fans sat compared to swf lol

NickG Posted 19 September, 2012 Share Posted 19 September, 2012 Just two years ago we had just appointed a new manager. The league table two years ago - 22nd in league 1. We had played 7, winning one game. We were lower in the country's football ladder than Tranmere, Harlepool, Brentford etc. Two years later, after close defeats to the Manchester clubs - realistically although we gained no points we did better than most established premiership sides did in those fixtures last season. A score away to Arsenal which matches Strachan's, who some think was great, performance with an established premiership side. And a defeat to Wigan who finished last season like this H Wolves Won 3-2 A Blackburn Won 0-1 H Newcastle Won 4-0 A Fulham Lost 2-1 A Arsenal Won 1-2 H Man Utd Won 1-0 A Chelsea Lost 2-1 H Stoke Won 2-0 A Liverpool Won 1-2 Time to look for a new manager? tpbury Posted 19 September, 2012 Share Posted 19 September, 2012 There's a formula to staying up - strong defence, big target man and hoofball. We all know we need to have this option if necessary, but as has been mentioned before, let us play our way and we can do the hoofball when we can get some heavy defenders in Jan. Meantimes, it really is a footballing 'experiment'which we can enjoy - no losers, some losses, everyone wins! Go Saints!

Colinjb Posted 19 September, 2012 Share Posted 19 September, 2012 And along the lines of Dubai Phil, something a Man Utd supporting mate said about us in relation to our game against them. For 70mins I thought we had no chance, as saints were outstanding, then for 30mins u's were only very good.... Without scholes that would not have happened, no shame in being "scholes'yd" tho, only two years ago that he "scholes'yd" a Barcelona including messi with a 35yd volley to put them out in the champions league semi final.... I fear you's will be in the premier league again next year, due to being quite good, so I'm sorry, I know you will be gutted about that ha

david in sweden Posted 19 September, 2012 Share Posted 19 September, 2012 (edited) Out of interest' date=' which ones do you think will finish below us?[/quote'] now I'm the fellow who says he doesn't look seriously at the tables till after match 6.... it's more the belief that we will finish mid table rather than naming names, but assuming our recovery starts soon.. ... I'm not so impressed with QPR, or Reading ....and we can get a good look at Villa on Saturday......maybe Norwich too.....however I dare not say Liverpool...that's unthinkable, but I do think their managerial change was a fiasco. The season is long and the crystal ball is a bit foggy at present, but ...more than that I cannot guess. St_Tel49 Posted 20 September, 2012 Share Posted 20 September, 2012 For me this post misses the point. I do appreciate being back in the Prem' date=' I think NA has been a breath of fresh air, as has our approach to playing football. However, it is valid to discuss the fact that we have lost the 1st 4 games and are bottom without a point. If it continues, I can't see anything other than NC acting to dismiss him. It's not about throwing yourself off of a ledge because you are a doom monger, or saying "In Nigel I trust", it's about living in the real world. Look back at history and you will see it time and time again. It's unfortunate, but we really need to get some points up on the board and I really hope for Nige's sake that we do that quickly.[/quote'] There are plenty of other threads saying that - no need to say it here

NickG Posted 22 September, 2012 Share Posted 22 September, 2012 Has no relevance to their performance in the Premiership. imho a very basic / superficial understanding of football if thats what you believe. Still don't know how we will do but feel those assessing on first four games, writing off Adkins, his signings etc are bunch of negative drama queens knowing little about football. Those comments that didn't sign any defenders etc. And those two idiots slagging off Ramirez signing! **** Wits!
