Those who sat amid home fans yesterday

Can't believe how many Saints fans who went to the Emirates yesterday sat among home fans - just wondering how they managed to get tickets and how much they paid. I got 5 tickets from an Arsenal supporting mate who's friends live abroad and can't always make it. I paid him £200 in total but they were good seats about 8 rows behind the dugouts. I must admit It was tough with the gooners jumping up all around six times but it was also interesting to hear their views on us. The guy to my right who obviously knew his football was really impressed with Ramirez.

My cousin ref'd the game and i got free tickets and a guided tour of the stadium which was impressive. I celebrated the goal, much to the amazement to the other guests of the day!

Did you get any bother from the arsenal fans. IMO the very minimum you should expect for doing that is a foam hand around your canister but given their dominance and Arsenal being a trendy club full of city types I'd imagine you probably got nothing more than a few funny looks.

When Highbury was turned into apartments anyone who purchased an apartment got two season tickets for several seasons in the top tier, in amongst all the Ticketmaster theatre ticket Japanese tourist brigade.

Many of these tickets circulate around.

Hope this helps.

Ah thanks it does - did not know that - I wonder then are their home attendances artificially high?

I was sat in the Arsenal end as I live near the Emirates and a Gooner mate got me a ticket. Couldn't watch any more as it got toward the end of the first half so I went for a pint, and missed our goal. Great day all round really.

Yep, exactly the same situation. Went for a pint when their 3rd went in and ended up having a very extended half time pint or three before showing my face mid way through the second half. And then leaving soon afterwards.

i clapped podolskis goal and stayed put for the rest... Cheered in a hugely ironic way our goal. Amazed by how many saints fan there were around me. Someone kept on shouting come on rickie. arsenal fans couldnt have cared less, probably because they were coasting. must be annoying there in a tight game with loads of away fans in there

I was in block 18 courtesy of a couple of Arsenal season ticket holders through the business. Some prat behind me seem to think he was best mates with the players with shouts of 'come on Gibbo, Rambo, Jenks, Merts'..you get the drift.

I managed to bite my tongue until the 3rd goal when Mr Innit in front of me turned to the left to wave goodbye to the Saints supporters as if mocking that they were walking out. I pointed out to him that I couldn't see anyone walking out and far play to the SFC fans for sticking with it and singing proudly. He didn't seem to have an answer for that.

Having been to the Emirates several times but not Saturday, I concur with the reports about the dreadful home atmosphere. The big 4 all seem to suffer this problem - they all have a very large corporate/Disney tourist portion at games. Emirates is even worse due to the architecture: mid stand corporate circle ringing the entire ground, disrupting the formation of big banks of real, coordinated, singing, fans.

That and the demographic of their fan base (and any fan base now tbh) now is simply not like the seething, boiling hoards of shaven headed lads that filled the Archers cages in the 70s

Last I remember being in the wrong end at an Arsenal game was around '84. As a 13 year old, the Northbank definitely wasn't the place to show your colours, so as my Arsenal supporting cousin celebrated the two or three they stuck by us, the one goal we scored was met by a flinch and bitten lip by me.

Got a couple of season tickets for the day in the middle tier. Gave away I was Saints by just sitting there when they scored, but people around me just started sensible conversations about how they've had the odd day like that and stuffed a few good teams at home in the past so not to worry. The bloke in front celebrated when Fox scored (we were behind that goal) and the Arsenal fans just said good on him for sticking with his team, although I'm sure there'll be plenty of people on here who will say it shows that the Arsenal fans aren't passionate 'cos they didn't kick our heads in.

Went with my cousin and his daughter who have Arsenal season tickets and managed to get a friend's season ticket who couldn't make it.

I have been to the Emirates a few times and hate the place for its morgue like atmosphere and plastic fanbase.

Like others, after the 4th goal I went and had a god awful pint but it was better than suffering our performance so missed our goal but caught it on the screens in the concourse.

Spent £120 for the day all in all and felt humiliated as my cousin took great joy in rubbing salt into the wound especially when saying that that is the worst display he has seen by any opposing team at the Emirates.

I think he was just getting on the band wagon. Glory boy I suspect (failed glory boy as they never win anything any more). It was a thrashing but there were signs to be optimistic. I live and work in London including working with 4 guuners. General consensus that Arsenal hit form and Saints not given a chance to get into the game. All agreed we were bad at the back but going forward and the passing game we where trying to play showed signs that we can cause trouble and know how to play the game. Don't take it from your cousin he doesn't know what he is talking about.
