Kevin Turvey Posted 15 September, 2012 Posted 15 September, 2012 Just thought I'd let you all know that he could be one of the signings of the year in the Championship. I was very anti him coming back after his goal celebrations against us a few years back but if he carries on like he did last night then all will be forgotten very quickly. He's given us a bit of muscle in the middle which was a big part of our undoing last season. He's also reminded me why he was club captain under Dean Wilkins a few years back and why Wilkins rated him so highly. Anyone know what the deal is? Have Brighton got an option to buy and would you guys want him back or is he effectively a bench-warmer at your level?
buctootim Posted 15 September, 2012 Posted 15 September, 2012 He was a big part of us getting promoted twice and served us very well. Not at all surprised he is doing a good job for you - both as a player and as a wise older head on the field. Just dont think he can cut it in the PL so wouldnt be surprised if you guys sign him permanently at the end of the season, if you want to.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 15 September, 2012 Posted 15 September, 2012 Should have kept him and loaned out GULY or JWP imo

buctootim Posted 15 September, 2012 Posted 15 September, 2012 JWP He means Bradley Wtright Philips. Just been asleep for a while.
bender Posted 15 September, 2012 Posted 15 September, 2012 I was at the game last night as well. Fitted in well. Liked his programme comments asking Albion fans for forgiveness.
buctootim Posted 15 September, 2012 Posted 15 September, 2012 Liked his programme comments asking Albion fans for forgiveness. Really? ffs. This desperate need this country has to get people to apologise even when they haven't done anything wrong is sad. Hammond played for a football team. Hardly the same as being a guard at Auswitz is it.
Alain Perrin Posted 15 September, 2012 Posted 15 September, 2012 To be honest, football fans in general (and a number of Brighton examples spring to mind) often fail to see the other persons side. Adkins - "Can they keep up with us" comment - analysed ad infinitum when it was just a throwaway comment - is that really reason to despise someone? Us "refusing" to give them a guard of honour when the game was very important to us (needing to focus on our promotion, not yours). Saints fans aren't immune to being dicks either mind you. For example Hammond celebrating against Brighton - no one knows what happened, what was said, shouted, chanted, emailed or twittered to him leading up to that celebration. It happened. Get over it. He's a great player and will do his best for Brighton, like he did for Saints. ps. I still think Poyet's a ****.

Hardly the same as being a guard at Auswitz is it. Actually, I think the two roles are very similar.
hutch Posted 15 September, 2012 Posted 15 September, 2012 He means Bradley Wtright Philips. Just been asleep for a while. Where he's from, I think he meant Jimmy Wright-Phillips
Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 15 September, 2012 Posted 15 September, 2012 Great player for us. Was upset when he left and particularly so that it was to Brighton who don't deserve him. **** of a manager and fans who big themselves up as a team that is bigger than they actually are. Best they can hope for long term is championship mediocrity.

bender Posted 15 September, 2012 Posted 15 September, 2012 Hammond in last nights Brighton programme:
Colbury Posted 15 September, 2012 Posted 15 September, 2012 Player has a good game when playing at his level shocker
RobM Posted 15 September, 2012 Posted 15 September, 2012 At least we now know what 'his club' is. He's been amazing for us, but has certainly found his level so I can't see him ever coming back. Probably a good thing, since Brighton are 'his club'.

Probably a good thing, since Brighton are 'his club'. Not sure if you're being sarcastic, or if you've sincerely taken offence at him supporting a team. If you were a pro playing for Brighton, or anybody, would it stop Saints being your team?
