doddisalegend Posted 14 September, 2012 Share Posted 14 September, 2012 Apparently viruses and Malware are now bewing installed on PCs during the building process at the factory.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-19585433 Nitol was the most pernicious of the viruses Microsoft caught because, as soon as the computer was turned on, it tried to contact the command and control system set up by Nitol's makers to steal data from infected machines. "We found malware capable of remotely turning on an infected computer's microphone and video camera, potentially giving a cybercriminal eyes and ears into a victim's home or business," said Richard Boscovich, Scary stuff:suspicious:
View From The Top Posted 14 September, 2012 Share Posted 14 September, 2012 I've a student teacher, who is also doing a PhD regarding cybercrime & international law enforcement. The irony is, to me anyway, that he's Nigerian.

badgerx16 Posted 14 September, 2012 Share Posted 14 September, 2012 Many years ago we purchased a legitimate copy of some software on 3&1/2 inch discs, ( remember them ? ), direct from the software house. These discs carried a virus that erased computer hard drives, and which was traced back to the disc manufacturing plant.
Thedelldays Posted 14 September, 2012 Share Posted 14 September, 2012 Did you know that around 97% of portable media, memory sticks etc are made in China...... Many have been found to be carry virus programmes. At any one time... The Chinese government will have at the very least 5000 people online as such trying to disrupt the Web, West's interests.... Hacking into (for example) MoD sites.. All over Facebook... Trying to break into banking sites etc etc.... All around the clock. Social network sites offer the biggest headache to the causal user.... One of my roles is as a security officer. I once did a presentation and using nothing but free to use websites with 192.com... I managed to find outbthere family details, kids names, schools etc... Found out there a dress. Found out what time the wide did the school run, thus knowing when the house would be empty..... Found out teachers names at the school mm found out brothers names and addresses.... Found out who built their new build and then got plans for their property from said company site All of this is did live at the presentation and took me about 40 Mins. Is it bloody scary stuff if you don't do what you can to lock down Facebook etc etc
