Pamplemousse Posted 12 September, 2012 Share Posted 12 September, 2012 A total of 575 clubs will share in the benefits of UEFA EURO 2012 in accordance with the renewed Memorandum of Understanding which was signed between UEFA and the European Club Association (ECA) in March. UEFA has today finalised the calculation of the amounts to be paid to UEFA member associations for them to pass on to those of their clubs which contributed to the success of UEFA EURO 2012 and national team football in general, particularly in the 2010/11 and 2011/12 seasons. In total, 575 clubs will benefit - a substantial increase when compared to the distribution after UEFA EURO 2008, for which 180 clubs received payments. With UEFA making €100m available, €40m has been reserved for clubs that released players for qualifying matches, with the remaining €60m to be distributed to clubs which released players for the final tournament. Clubs receive an equal share per player released for each qualifying match, and a fixed amount per player per day for the final tournament, weighted with the FIFA categorisation of clubs for training compensation http://www.uefa.com/uefa/stakeholders/clubs/news/newsid=1857439.html http://www.uefa.com/MultimediaFiles/Download/uefaorg/Clubs/01/85/80/05/1858005_DOWNLOAD.pdf Seems completely pointless to me, and for some reason, clubs like Shrewsbury, Tranmere and even the skates ffs have been given more money. I don't really understand why. Hopefully the club give it to the Saints Foundation

Sod all chance of that being used to compensate ripped-off charities, I suppose. Edited 12 September, 2012 by alpine_saint
The9 Posted 12 September, 2012 Share Posted 12 September, 2012 Clearly as a side with very few international players until recently, we won't have had many players involved in Euro 2012 qualifying. Lower league clubs could easily have more internationals in squads for Wales, N Ireland etc during the qualifiers, and for some random smaller eastern European sides - and the Skates were in the Prem until 2010. Having said that, Shrewsbury currently only have English and Welsh players, and unless they count U-21s...
Saint Garrett Posted 12 September, 2012 Share Posted 12 September, 2012 Would have thought Shrewsbury would have been regarding joe harts development?
VectisSaint Posted 12 September, 2012 Share Posted 12 September, 2012 Would have thought Shrewsbury would have been regarding joe harts development? Nothing to do with player development, it clearly states that it is for release of players for international matches for qualifying matches and finals matches weighted with the FIFA categorisation of clubs for training compensation. Shrewsbury almost certainly released some players for the Welsh team in qualifying matches, probably more than we did for any European teams. tartan_saint Posted 12 September, 2012 Share Posted 12 September, 2012 it gets filtered down to season ticket holders who have enough "points," to get discount on future games. those who haven't been to enough games this season, get F.A. FACT.
Window Cleaner Posted 13 September, 2012 Share Posted 13 September, 2012 we got 1.8 million after Euro 2008 though, we had "real"internationals in those days, Skacel, Rasiak and Saganowski perhaps.
