AussieDog Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 Wiggins or Murray. How do you choose between them. I'd vote for Wiggins, purely because he's not a scottish c#nt...but then again I've just checked and Wiggins was actually born in Belgium - so Mo Farrah then.... Bradley Wiggins Mo Farah Jess Ennis Andy Murray Ben Ainsle Nicola Adams Rory McIllroy Davd Weir Sarah Storey Ellie Simmonds Ryan Giggs will win it. Anybody but a f**king footballer. Personally, I think the BBC should cancel this years award, FFS, how do you pick ? I could add another ten names to that list
John Boy Saint Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 Either way it's going to be the most competitive SPOTY in ages, as the glorious sporting feats of the summer are so numerous. Trouble is if someone on the panel sticks in a dopey footballer (goodness knows why they should) he could easily canter up the inside to snaffle the prize. Personally I think: Wiggo Farah Murray With a special mention for Johnnie Peacock, only because I thought his 100m the other night was awesome. The Games Makers will be team of the year. Bolt = Overseas Dave Whatsit the Cycling boss = Coach of the year Seb = Special Recognition Award Dave Weir = Helen Rowleson Award

Minty Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 TBH, the main reason to watch SPOTY is for the montages and features about all the sporting achievements of the year, and this years is going to be awesome... I honestly don't care who wins it. It's a shame there has to be one.

I honestly don't care who wins it. It's a shame there has to be one. As Cameron has intimated that they will get there own Honours ie MBE CBE ect and not part of the normal Queenie ones, there will be a hell of a lot of gongs and awards flying about in December. SPOTY can just highlight the summer and a joint award to all participants. Personality has to be changed to personalities maybe

Patrick Bateman Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 Anybody but a f**king footballer. Personally, I think the BBC should cancel this years award, FFS, how do you pick ? I could add another ten names to that list I said that too - there are simply TOO many names this year! I would like to see Ellie Simmonds get it though, she has a HUGE personality, comes across as really nice and is the best in her class. Followed by Wiggins and Ainslie. Wiggins as the "best British Olympian" of all time and Ainslie for being the "best Olympic sailor" of all time. I enjoyed everyone else's win, but those 3 for me, stood out! krissyboy31 Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 Thought before the Olympics Wiggins was nailed on and when he won his Gold medal it only cemented that opinion. Now, haven't got a clue. It could be any one of six or seven.

All I will say is Rory McIlroy won't win it. Impossible to pick a winner though. Colinjb Posted 26 November, 2012 Share Posted 26 November, 2012 (edited) 1. Wiggins 2. Farah 3. Ennis What a crazy year. So many worthy winners on there. And this leaves out a man who achieved something no person born on these isles has managed in the lifetime of both my father and I. 2012, wow. CB Saint Posted 26 November, 2012 Share Posted 26 November, 2012 Ironically, for all the years he has been nominated, this is the year Murray has achieved enough to warrant winning. However, he is going to be beat by Wiggo and the mobot

Sheaf Saint Posted 26 November, 2012 Share Posted 26 November, 2012 Gotta be Wiggins I reckon. Winning the TDF is the absolute pinnacle of his sport. To follow it up with Olympic gold as well - would be an injustice if anybody else won it really.

The Cat Posted 27 November, 2012 Share Posted 27 November, 2012 Sadly no late chance for Monty Panesar to be on the list. I'd have him in partly for his epic bowling in the last test but also for the way he stood in the middle of the pitch clapping himself. Legend. Wiggins Murray Ainslie Team of the year is Sky Cycling team (but Team GB will get it despite not being a proper 'team') Coach of the year is a shoe in for Dave Brailsford. Overseas Personality - Gaston Ramirez.

Are you confused with Hoy there? Wiggins has to be the coolest British Olympian of all time. Totally agree with Ellie Simmonds, that girl is amazing. alpine_saint Posted 30 November, 2012 Share Posted 30 November, 2012 Team of the year may go to the Ryder Cup team. Hard to argue they dont deserve it after that last day singles round. Would have been easy to argue for Poulter's inclusion in the individual award nominations.
