Lallana called up for England.

Don't agree that it was pointless. He said in a interview that it was a good opportunity for new players to come in and get a feel for the setup etc. I doubt Lallana considered it pointless at all.

Also gave Woy time for that nice cosy little one-to-one chat. You know the one. The one that goes along the lines of "Son, you want to become a squad regular and play for England, find a bigger club"...

 Truly the real successor to MLT.[/QUOTE]

We'd like to think you're right there Alpine, but taking that title will take a little while to secure..

MLT didn't get his divine status until he'd had a few seasons under his belt, and even then he was a bit erratic in his early years.

IMO opinion...this season will show what sort of a player... Adam can become...in time. His well-earned "success" was earned in L1 and NPC......the Prem is the real " proving-ground " for all players.

- youngest team captain inthe Prem. regardless of eventual results we can see how performs in that role.

- selected for the Engalnd squad. If he still gets in the 24 when the others are back from injuries, we'll know we've got someone special (in the national team perspective).

- and it won't do him any harm to get on the scoresheet a bit more often, either.

.he's already in a BIG club. It's just that most of the others just have big egos and big reputations ....and little else to show for it.

Even moving to a top four club, he wouldn't be playing half the amount of games he'll get at SMS.

Don't buy the whole called up for the experience of the setup balls personally. We all know the FA setup and so do the players. Any player who turned up and played no part has wasted their time haven't they? It's not like Lallana is 17 years old and while I'm happy for him as a personal achievement, given the start to our season and the task we have in the Prem this year, I'd rather none of our players heads were turned by the prospect of warming the bench for England.

Why would being on the bench for England turn his head? What a daft premise. Lallana was probably as chuffed as nuts to be involved even if he had zero chance of getting on. If anything it will have boosted his confidence - which is good for him and the club.
