Thedelldays Posted 9 September, 2012 Share Posted 9 September, 2012 Am I missing something....the praise he gets is unreal and in the paper today, he is being described as our fabregas... have I missed the games where he was any good..? thought he was poor at SMS for example, JWP stood out more than him and he is only

SuperSAINT Posted 9 September, 2012 Share Posted 9 September, 2012 Thought he was anonymous against us. I do like him though, but as is typical with the English press - he has a good game against Moldolva and all of a sudden Roy's got us playing like Barca, and we have our own Iniesta. Crab Lungs Posted 9 September, 2012 Share Posted 9 September, 2012 (edited) JWP, Lallana and although French, Schneiderlin are better than him... and will prove it over the next coming months. It's the sort of fanfare that is reserved for all our young midfielders these days, just take a look at the squad that went to Denmark and were utter tripe; Marc Albrighton (Aston Villa), Tom Cleverley (Manchester United), Jack Cork (Chelsea), Jordan Henderson (Sunderland), Henri Lansbury (Arsenal), Fabrice Muamba (Bolton Wanderers), Jack Rodwell (Everton), Danny Rose (Tottenham Hotspur), Scott Sinclair (Swansea City). Out of that lot (with the exception of Cork), Scott Sinclair is the only player who actually makes an impact on games. Lansbury/Cleverley are OK, but the rest are just very, very average (or poor) "water carriers". Yet, for some reason, the English press bang on about them as if they're incisive, talented passers of the ball. They're not. They pass backwards. And sideways. Sometimes tackle. Run around alot. Pretty much modern day Prutton's that'll look good in a winning team but poor in a losing one. Luckily for them, they hide amongst teams that win often so therefore get hyped as of good footballers. Don't be fooled, they're not. The two best passers of the ball in this country (if you wanted to go Barca-style) are Carrick and Wilshere. Scholes is unfortunately 37 so that rules him out. JWP will be in that batch, but it's up to him how far he goes. Irrespective, he's far and away better already than any of the turdbaskets above. Crazy Diamond Posted 12 September, 2012 Share Posted 12 September, 2012 I've not seen enough of him but it's the same with any young midfielder, we pin all our hopes on them because they show a brief spark of potential. Is Wilshere this amazing midfielder we hear so much about? Probably not, it's just hype because he's English and has somehow found a bit of technique from somewhere. If Danny Welbeck didn't play for United, would he get a sniff at the England team? No because he's **** bloody poor. Same with Sturridge. Those two **** me off. Welbeck unfortunately will now be an automatic pick because he's young, plays for United and scored what I would argue was a fluke against Sweden to give us the win at Euro 2012.
