alpine_saint Posted 7 September, 2012 Share Posted 7 September, 2012 Seriously, who gives a f**k ? The Olympics has dented my love of football, but trashed it completely for the national side. Come on Moldova.
Minty Posted 7 September, 2012 Share Posted 7 September, 2012 There's not giving a f**k, and then there's actively supporting the opposition... not quite sure what the point of that is. England is my country so I like to see them do well whatever the sport. But I don't support them in the same way I do Saints, the affinity is just not there. Come on Moldova. I know exactly what you mean, I stopped supporting the England team 10-12 years ago when it became a money fuelled 'brand' and national pride went out the window. If the Moldovans got a result I would find it rather amusing. In other news it's Kazakhstan 1-0 Republic Of Ireland at half time, WTF is going on there? You really are a cretin. I was out in Moldova with numerous other Saints fans, we all sang our National Anthem with pride - arms open wide, chest puffed. Why is it ridiculous as a football fan following my country abroad and singing? Also, how does it not have anything to do with England?
This Charming Man Posted 9 September, 2012 Share Posted 9 September, 2012 Must admit I haven't watched any football yet this season, league or international but hoping I get the passion for it back again. Doubt it'll come with England though. Don't know if they played well, but using Gerrard, Lampard, Terry etc doesn't show much desire to move on and build. That's because there is no one else to move forward with at the moment - bar Wilshire if he can get himself fit. Gerrard wasn't great the other night but was a different class at the Euros, Lampard scored twice and Terry did all he needed to (granted it was very little given the nature of the opposition). If Cleverley is the future of our midfield, then god help us. They're still the best we've got so no point at all in dropping any of them just yet and I fully expect all 3 to be in Brazil. Used to do England home & away but just can't be arsed any more. Although may well take the nipper to San Marino away.

Quite clearly the national anthem has a great deal to do with England..... Seeing as it is the English national anthem As for front line mob... Sheaf Saint Posted 10 September, 2012 Share Posted 10 September, 2012 Quite clearly the national anthem has a great deal to do with England..... Seeing as it is the English national anthem errr... wrong I'm afraid Delldays. It's the British national anthem, not the English one. Wales, Scotland and NI all have their own anthems, yet we don't. There was an interesting debate about this on R4 not so long ago, inviting people to suggest what the English NA should be if we were to adopt one. It's the English anthem it is sung officially in that context I have been involved in enough ceremonial crap to know this It also the anthem of northern Ireland....... And great britain As for inviting people to have an English anthem different from GSTQ. That is the response to the recent nationalism is the other home nations and in the commonwealth games, they have changed from land of hope and glory to Jerusalem..... But that is by request and nothing official.
S-Clarke Posted 10 September, 2012 Share Posted 10 September, 2012 I do like how Roy is managing things if I'm honest, and I'm pretty sure that Neville is having a big impact on things too. That's not just because Adam has been called up, it's because he seems to know how to sensibly blend it between experience and youth. Let's remember, we haven't actually lost a game under him yet (ok, a penalty shoot out - but the game was 0-0) and I think we've only conceded a couple of goals? He's certainly made us hard to beat, as the Italy game in the Euro's goes to show.

It is my opinion, and being allowed opinions in this country is something to be proud about, that the National Anthem is the ****tist NA in the world and not only do England supporters sing it like a football song they sing it through out the match. It's has nothing to do with England its a monarchists song, the song of a family that doesn't give a **** about football or you. All other countries sing about their country not their leaders, maybe South Korea or other fundamentalist countries do. It looks and sounds ridiculous, all in my opinion of course. Fan The Flames Posted 13 September, 2012 Share Posted 13 September, 2012 Its not the English NA, we don't have a NA. At sporting occasions the FA have chosen to sing the UK na instead. Have you looked at the words, what do they say about england and its people, nothing. Its all about protecting the reign of the Queen, that might mean a lot to you but it means nothing to a lot of people and it certainly means nothing during a football match. Saintandy666 Posted 13 September, 2012 Share Posted 13 September, 2012 I have to say I find God Save the Queen utterly unrelatable as well as uninspiring. At least something like Jerusalem or Land of Hope and Glory are inspiring, if still unrelatable.

GSTQ appeared 50 years after the act or union, so you are wrong, again.
The Cat Posted 13 September, 2012 Share Posted 13 September, 2012 Time to rejuvinate this team. A midfield of Wilshire, Ward-Prowse and Lallana with Walcott and Oxlade-Chamberlain on the wings and Rooney up front would wipe the floor with everyone. We could also play Clyne at RB instead of Johnson and stick Lambert on the bench incase we are somehow losing.
