The9 Posted 7 September, 2012 Share Posted 7 September, 2012 Based on the BBC's match reports from last season with the size of the words relating to the number of mentions, there's one for every 2011/12 Championship club here : http://spiritofmirko.com/2012/07/16/championship-20112012-season-review-word-clouds/ But this is the Saints one : From tagexedo.com , via http://www.spiritofmirko.com
The9 Posted 7 September, 2012 Author Share Posted 7 September, 2012 I have a question. Why is the word "HAM" in there ? Ah. West Ham. Ok.
Le Timmier Posted 7 September, 2012 Share Posted 7 September, 2012 Double Ham. Mmmmm.
CB Fry Posted 7 September, 2012 Share Posted 7 September, 2012 Hmmm. I like a word cloud, the can be illuminating, but that's a bit dull. Be good to see one with the Saints club and player names taken out. What you want to get to are the words that might define our season, not just the fairly obvious fact that Nigel Adkins gets a name check in each match report. Comparison with the other clubs is quite helpful for this... see the Mirko link.

The9 Posted 7 September, 2012 Author Share Posted 7 September, 2012 The Portsmouth one features the word "Southampton" larger than the word "survival", but they're both on there.
Hatch Posted 7 September, 2012 Share Posted 7 September, 2012 Cortese will be fuming when he sees this.
The9 Posted 7 September, 2012 Author Share Posted 7 September, 2012 Coventry? Well it was the match we got promoted in, and we played them in the FA Cup too. Coventry's word cloud features the words "RELEGATION" "MISSED" and "INJURY".
CB Fry Posted 7 September, 2012 Share Posted 7 September, 2012 Comparison with the other clubs is quite helpful for this... see the Mirko link. They're all dull - the Coventry one is pretty much the same as the Reading and WHU ones, and they had "interesting seasons". If anything the whole thing says the BBC Match reports are pretty dull reading. And they are, too.
landford.saint Posted 7 September, 2012 Share Posted 7 September, 2012 HAM is only tiny on ours, however, SOUTHAMPTON is fairly prominant on W.Hams. Have they got an issue with us, or just because they spent most of the season chasing us?

They're not likely to have quirky stuff in them every week though are they, or they wouldn't be quirky ? Plus the team name is required to identify them. At least they haven't listed it with "AND" and "THE" as the main words.
