Bobbyboy Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 Don't like it myself. What's interesting I think is that people are already looking forwarde to or speculating on next year's kit. Didn't see that this time last year. Although we were having other discussions this time last year like "let's tear them a new one" every week

The sooner we get back to stripes the better.
Bearsy Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 The kit is evolving all the time homes! You only need to look across the saintsweb banner thing at the top of the page to see originally we played in suit and tie, one year we had one stripe, one year no stripes and most years we played in black and white like newcastles! sfc1976 Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 Of course it looks ****e, it's a football shirt, they all do! If you want a decent shirt get down Jermyn St, SW1.
kpturner Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 Personally, as long as it is not blue, I don't give a sh1te.
samwhocan Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 If half the team wear the home strip and the other half the away, all shall be fine!
Badger Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 If half the team wear the home strip and the other half the away, all shall be fine! Or even wear them inside out, as described in a post by the9 above.

Possibly Cortese was influenced by our chant of "Come on you Reds" Anyway, what makes anyone think that he will ASK the Supporters about next seasons design ?? He certainly didn't ask about this one It COULD be worse..... just think if you were a Cardiff fan
tajjuk Posted 12 September, 2012 Share Posted 12 September, 2012 Tell you what Do the Red and White Stripes of the USA Flag, in the same way as our "New" kit is, and then ask any American if he will still accept it as Red and White Stripes No brainer really Yeh the flag of one of the most powerful and biggest countries in the world versus the kit of a football team. Yeh good comparison there, lots of relevance. Like the guy bringing out the 1980's Liverpool kit, oh no we look like a team from 30 years ago. I'm sure that exact thought is going round every fan of every club we play cos they all have in depth knowledge of other teams kits form the 1980s. You lot act as if our kit has always been the same since the beginning of time, when clearly it hasn't - http://www.historicalkits.co.uk/Southampton/Southampton.htm Seeing as some of your are fascinated with 30 years ago, pretty much none of the 1980's kits are your traditional red and white stripes, in fact it is difficult to describe them as striped at all. All the eighties kits are striped except the white shoulders one. And the hummel kit was effing brilliant and of its time. You could say the same about the air florida one too. It was an age of every team having mental kits. This kit isn't like that. It's just an anodyne all red kit for no particular reason. Lots of people (a majority) don't like it. But we're stuck with it.

It is also very difficult to describe the 'kit' the Shirt, shorts and socks as all red. That is the clincher for me, the entire kit looks wrong, had the shirt been set with black shorts and white socks it would have been far more 'Saints' in look and your point would be valid. The9 Posted 12 September, 2012 Share Posted 12 September, 2012 As we're on such a lovely "old kit" discussion, I'm flogging 9 of my enormous all-encompassing collection : http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?40025-More-Saints-Kits-For-Sale
doggface Posted 12 September, 2012 Share Posted 12 September, 2012 Like it as a one off. Fits great, like the cut. If we changed all red permanently would not be impressed. Very disappointed that it looks to be the end for umbro football shirts tho, decades of history and British brand.
Secret Site Agent Posted 12 September, 2012 Share Posted 12 September, 2012 It is horrible, bring back the sash. I agree. we want to be unique and not look like another team, bring back the Sash. Wouldn't even need an away kit.

Nicola won't be asking yours or my opinion As I said earlier, it's OUR fault for chanting "Come On You REDS " You can see where he got the idea from
