What do we think of the new kit now?

Really like the kit. Just not 'Southampton'....so pretty much exactly the same as what I thought when we brought it out. However I can put up with it for one season, it's not that bad.

Is it definately for one season only? Hope you are right!

What was the point of it for one season only?

Lukewarm.

I like it on my kids, but not on the team.

Actually, I have a question about the printing service. A relative dashed down SMS when it came out and got my kids inital and surname printed with their choice of number on the shirts. But the shop didnt bother with "." between the initial and surname. Is that normal or has my relative been ripped off ? I reckon it looks a little odd without it.

it is a brilliant kit where we dont get confused with Sunderland, Stoke, Exeter and many foreign teams. New club new identity

Well we're not getting confused with Southampton anyway.

But yes, how brilliant be the only club in world football to play in plain red.

I sympathise with the idea of distinguishing ourselves from those teams, and always have. Thats why I love the sash (though would change the shorts and sock colours if it made another appearance) and have argued for a return of the quarters.

Don't like it at all, looks cheap and nasty , also doesn't seem to fit very well ! while I am having negative moment hate the new official website, the ticket office and we need to strengthen at the back...but we will not be relegated.

Are you sure that's the shirt's fault?

After England and Man City have both confirmed their new manufacturer will be Nike, I wonder if we will follow next season? I'm sure I read somewhere that Nike and Umbro are linked. Either way our design will change next year so I can live with the all red, in fact I don't mind it as a one off!

This I agree with - if we moved to the sash permanently, or even quarters, I can see it. Fine.

But what we have done is neither distinctive nor reflective of our history. It's an utterly anonymous, thoughtless, tossed off piece of crap. We're now aping Swindon and Barnsley. And Forest. And Liverpool. And so on.

Oh well, we're stuck with it. I'm over it ;)

Let's see what we come up with next season.

When it was first unveiled I actually liked the new red kit. A few games in and I have done a total u-turn.

I now think it is bland and uninspiring and I miss the stripes.

Anyone else?

I still hate it, but I bought it last week. I know that makes no sense, I'm treating it like a school uniform. I wear the shirt to matches, that's just what I do. If I start questioning that, I might start questioning why I like football at all, and we can't have that, I'd get really bored, really quickly.

Basically a mate won one in a competition, already had a shirt and the wife managed to get it cheap. I still much prefer the white kit but we're not likely to wear it for a while yet so I didn't get that one yet. The fact I already have the third kit has lessened the blow. :)

Umbro are currently owned by Nike (as of about 18 months ago), and Nike have sold the high profile Umbro contracts to themselves. Having done this they are now selling off the shell of Umbro without any kit deals - Mike Ashley is rumoured to be interested and Umbro are expected to rebrand as "Lonsdale" type training and leisurewear producers only, probably with Sportsdirect.com distribution.

None of the other Umbro teams are getting renewed Umbro deals, and Sunderland and West Brom (amongst others) have already jumped to adidas because Umbro weren't around to negotiate with.

It's irrelevant to us though, our Umbro kit deal runs out at the end of this season so we're free to negotiate with anyone. The Man City Umbro deal was for TEN YEARS and was only signed 2 years ago, but due to the takeover of Umbro they're wearing Nike from next season.

I think it is ghastly.

The shade of red looks dirty and dull on the players on the actual pitch. Makes us look like a tired old club like Villa for some reason.

All replica kits look abominable on fans to be honest, but then perhaps I'm a scowling, designer clobber-clad ageing wannabee.
