Jose , your thoughts

He started looking like a plate of Jelly long before the corner that led to the Goal,he also had a "bottle" problem whenever we came under the cosh in L 1 and the Championship, sorry to say it but he is a liability in this league where there are so many late goals scored.

Not had a good start to this season and pretty woeful

Last season been a good asset but maybe prem a step to

far? Hopefully yoshida turns out to be a good un and

is a ready made replacement

He wasn;t the best for the last part of last season either. I like the guy, but would rather he was back-up. Hopefully Yoshida will sure up our defense

He isn't the one who has given away two penalties in the first 3 weeks. Our whole defence is championship standard imo. The rest of the team is almost there, I just he we aren't let down massively by the back 5.

Please tell me you are joking? Clyne is easily a Prem defender. Fox has it at times but these are rare went missing a lot today. Fonte - agree too slow to react and not that great under pressure (looping ball that actually went backwards) Hoovield - I think has the qualities, a liitle bit if education and he will be good.

Why doesn't fox ever ****ing close down? Hardly ever gets anywhere near a player to stop a cross. It's not ****ing rocket science. Should have looked to shore up the defence more but we are where we are now. As a unit we're fine, teams aren't walking through us, need to stop making stupid ****ing individual error's. They cost us all three goals more than anything else

People on here say 'Give Fonte a chance in the Prem, he was brilliant for us in L1 and the Champ'. Well I'm sorry, he has had his chance now and is clearly not good enough. Praying this Japanese guy is decent, otherwise we will continue to leak silly goals which you can't do in this league unless you want to be relegated.. Like others have said, the rest of the team is sorted other than Fonte, Fox & K.Davis.

Davis, Fox, Fonte and Adkins cost us big time today! Gutted

Spot on, and I must stop agreeing with you. Up until the pen save I would have added Davies. I really want him to do well, as he has been great for the club, but think we need a replacement. Still think he has a lot to offer the club, and he is worth having around as a coach, and a great role model.

Yay luv a blame game thread lets all blame Fonte! He's the Devil incarnate nuff said

He was not solely to blame of course but he certainly was a major culprit.

Who is responsible to get the defence to push up? Either Jose or Hoolivelt , whoever it was did not do his job today

Fonte's confidence looks shot as well. Reminds me of Pickering in 78/79. Good in Div 2 but completely lost it once we got to Div 1 and hardly played a game.

Fox's positional play was not good. Clyne and Puncheon had the right hand side completely sewn up, everything was coming down the left. Hoosveld looked OK.

Anyone know how close Jack Stephens is to getting a regular start?

Disappointed with Fonte. Seems to have disastrous lapses of concentration.

I'll say it today for the first time, he is not good enough. If he ups his game, a squad player perhaps, but looking forward to seeing Yoshi settle in.

Jos will play more composed knowing he is alongside better quality. His reaction to Fonte not picking up v.persie was very telling. Frantically pointing down to where Fonte should have been.

Unfortunately, Fonte did not have a great game and it looks like he's being found out now. Maybe Yoshi is the answer - let's hope so. I saw KD blank Fonte at the end of the game - I would imagine he's starting to feel the pressure all round.

As far as today's game is concerned, there is no way you can add KD as a scapegoat for any of their goals AND he saved RVP's pen FFS.

Fox sits off too much, however next time watch and see who is with him helping him out - no-one...he's often left exposed and cannot risk getting drawn into the offensive player. Whenever he tries to get forward, there's nobody watching his back. It's a tactical issue that NA needs to sort out and then I think Fox will be OK.

We are stuck with him until January, but hopefully no nearer the pitch than the subs bench once Yoshi is available. In the window move him on and bring in a quality replacement.

Perhaps this was a situation that many believed should have been resolved last January window, or the summer at least.

It seems that we wanted a last ditch attempt to sign Williams from'boro, but thwarted by his injury. Can't understand why this was not sorted in July. We are now left 'hoping' that a bloke from Japan - who played for a poor team in Holland - can make the step up.

Fonte played well: made some crucial tackles, and his positional play was generally very good. The two late goals were down to players getting tired; this is what ManU do to team after team after team. Blaming Fonte for the fact that ManU have a knack of getting late goals is silly. The pity is that, with Fonte in particular so clearly tiring, we had no CB to bring on as substitute for the last 15 minutes ... except Seabourne who is clearly not trusted. But on the whole, Fonte played well. The team as a whole should have played further up the field in the last 10 minutes, instead of sitting back and inviting ManU's pressure. Guly and Rodriguez did nothing after coming on, and allowed ManU to dominate the midfield and press us back. When we can get Ramirez and Cork playing, that should provide us with more midfield depth and better bench strength too. But today, we played very well against ManU; for most of the game Fonte and Fox helped to contyrol and neutralize some very damn good ManU attacking players, along with the Excellent Clyne and Hooiveld and Schneiderlin. And while Davis was twice at fault with very weak passes out of the bacvk, neither actually led to a goal, and I trust he'll learn not to do that.

Im afraid Jose's not up to it - looked dodgy against the best Championship players last season, whereas Jos has a much calmer prescence. I think Jos will be fine with the right guy alongside him, a bit like Claus when he had Killer next to him. We're asking a bit much from a Japanese defender whose been playing in a lesser league, let's hope he wasn't about 6th on our target list!

Saints looked really solid defending set pieces all game apart from RVP's 3rd goal which was scandalous marking from Fonte. However it seems Saints have adopted zonal marking rather than man marking which is very risky. Although Davis saved a penalty which in honesty was a ****e attempt by RVP his distribution was awful all game. Numerous times he put his team under unnecessary pressure with stupid attempted passes. Fox tucks inside far to much and leaves the winger in acres of space to pick out crosses. He was nowhere near closing down cross for their 2nd goal albeit JRod didnt help on that one. On a positive Clyne is going to be a top player. Just needs to improve his decision making on what boots to wear :)

This Fonte bashing by some is getting on my t1ts it must be said. Some are even implying that he was a liability in the Championship as well. It is ridiculous. Most of the players that did well for us in L1 and are now playing in the EPL are going to struggle to get up to speed - they are not going to be able to put in faultless displays 100% of the time. So he made a couple of mistakes - get over it and back the fella. I don't see Hooiveld getting slated and he has given away two stone wall penalties in three matches. Defenders cock-ups, like goalkeepers, often lead to high profile negative events (i.e. goals). I am sure Ferguson and the Man Utd fans were less than impressed with their own back four yesterday because they made mistakes also. It happens - it doesn't mean that the player "is not good enough", it just means they can make mistakes just like the next guy.

It wasn't that along ago that some would have preferred to play with 10 men than have Puncheon on the pitch. I bet they don't think like that after yesterday. We have to give the likes of Fonte, Fox and Do Prado support while they wear the shirt, otherwise their confidence will evaporate and moaning about them not being good enough will become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Has made two goal conceding errors in the last 2 games, plus one against Ajax in pre-season. He'll surely be a goner when Yoshida comes back from international duty. The third goal today was unforgiveable, shocking defending to allow RVP a free header from 8 yards out.

granted he made mistakes but not picking up rvp from a rebound is more luck than anything, the mistake from that goal came from giving Rio a free header.

jos was just as bad, that challenge for the penalty was awful and imo he was lucky to stay on.

our whole back three looked shakey, we just have to score 4 against arsenal.

Yoshida came from the team with the worst defensive record in the Eredevise - if that's true - I can't see him being the answer!

He's not the answer. Let's face facts. We have a real problem. A problem that should've been addressed before we started spunking £12m on a player who is largely unknown and may not even be cut out for life in the premiership.

Show us why "He`s not the answer" having played err.. no games for us yet?

Show us the "facts" from your "let`s face facts" line

Championship standard.

We have by far the poorest defensive options in the league, Yoshida is a risky signing. His team conceded the most goals in the Dutch league last season and were 1 game from relegation.

Shame Cortese and Adkins didn't do much to the defence in the transfer window as our attacking options are fine for this league.

It's easy to defend a nice guy .and Jose is .... BUT he never looked the same after coming back from his injury last Autumn.

He has good close control, and his distribution is good but it looks like he moves in slow-motion.

His back passes frighten me, he either plays them too short, too soft and too often .. leaving KD in " no-mans land "

A good to average striker with a bit of pace will skin him very time. Sorry, but have to agree with most of the Board here - his time has run out.

Except it hasn't becuase we have no one better to replace him with at the moment. Yoshida is an unkown quainty(who might come good) and Seaborne is not even up to Fonte's standard.
