Story in tomorrows Star on Sunday

OK so where is Simon Peach today. Given he's in the game, I want to ask him a few questions about the Star's story writing policy. Is this a case of smoke without fire or does the Star indeed go around making things up? Where would Pratt have gleaned this from? Surely there can't be whispers eminating from within the club. NC would surely have a lock down, find the culprit and hoof him out which leaves just one possible source, NC himself.

The thing that had me thinking ****** was the use of the term 'board'. Is there one that decides on things at SMS? From what I can gather its practically a dictatorial state led by one man only.

I am a big defender of journos on here.

But not The Star. This is a made up story. The writing policy is "make stuff up so it looks like we have an exclusive story when we don't"

You don't need Simon Peach here.

Newspapers........having a writing policy:rolleyes:

Like most papers:p Make it up when it suits;)

Or in this case..a little publicity for a mate:D to jog the Chairman/owner of a certain London club.......I am waiting:).......Why Saints being used in this scenario?

Well it helps another mate...Fergie to stir the shiiite just before they meet the mighty Saints:o

Coz we is goin to bash Fergie.....Maybe ..

There are not many things that would cause me to stop attending Saints games but if we were to ever re-appoint that man that would be one of them!

NC runs an honest club, there is no way on gods earth he would want HR here!

Having supported this club man and boy, this is the one thing that would stop me going.

That said,the story is ridiculous.

Redcrapp is even less suited to the job now than last time!!

Thanks Duncan, that post tells me all I need to know about this non-story.....

No disrespect to FF but why would arry disclose stuff to Terry knowing that he would then tell Duncan who in turn would tell the world? Obviously it's a non story but either way but Harry's inner circle is a very tight group. I heard that Dan Browne couldn't even crack it.

All genuine saints fans should should boycott daily star for this. Adkins should be given 1 full season in the prem - period. This is a very tough league, we have got promoted ahead of plan/schedule. Adkins is having to replace most of the team, I believe we will stay up, but I also believe fans will believe th hype in he papers mounting pressure on Adkins after we may lose to united today. Sad really

Agreed mate!

I can't reveal my sauces but I can put all your minds at ease on this. You didn't hear from me okay but this is just Nicole preparing the soil for the pending return of The Hodd. Great timing too, what with the Paralympics being on atm and the thalidomide story coming to the fore.

In Hodd we trust.

I really hope we do a job on Man U today for NA's sake - this is an incredibly unfair swipe and represents what appears to be a growing amount of p1ss taking towards saints. The "media" don't seem to fully understand what we're trying to build and instead are enjoying mocking us as we're not doing things the established way. Instead of congratulating us on some amazing signings and considering what we have to offer these players, the stance being taken is more of "why on earth would they go there".

I'm sure NA has the resilience to deal with this and hopefully the support of NC.

Agree with all of this! I'm sure the media still have a bit of a grudge against us following NC's media ban a couple of seasons ago.

Inevitably the press are going to speculate. Adkins is fresh to the Premiership and we have a very ambitious Chairman (and we assume, the owners)

Adkins is under unbelievable pressure and will have to grow with the job and the division or he will be history. You do not spend upwards of £30m in the transfer window with the sort of salaries that will go with them.

I have no problem with Harry Redknapp as a football Manager. He did wonders at Spurs and was quite rightly considered for the England job. However there is no chance of him coming to Southampton. I am sure he would jump at it in a heartbeat but Harry is old school and that does not fit in with the “Southampton way”. Look at Pardew! He was old school and kicked out of the club.

Fear for Nigel if he does not start getting it together after Arsenal game by all means but do not fret over Harry. This will be about long term Nigel or an experienced man with the same philosophy and culture, not an old dinosaur like Harry and his ilk.

If the football press do not understand that then they do not understand Southampton Football Club

I dont doubt that NA will come under pressure from NC's ambition but not this soon.

One of the things that impressed me about Cortese when I met him was that he does have a genuine knowledge and awareness of football and of other teams. He will be fully aware of the fact we have a tougher start to the season due to the teams we are playing and I'm sure his expectations are as realistic as the fans for these first few games.

watching Reid and Mick McCarthy on sky a week or so ago and saw how the old school really have their heads in the sand.HR is one of them and whilst i supported HR while he was here there is no way i want him back. He is a good manager with Joe Jordans back up, without him he is an abject failure, Kevin Bond giving him advice lol.

Is Pratt a mate of Fergie or a Utd fan? These type of unsettling stories seem to come to the fore just before we are to play the big clubs .

I read yesterday that Ferguson was livid with the FA for announcing that Young was unfit, thereby giving us a perceived advantage today. Could be a vain attempt to even things up a bit.

oh b##### by the time i had put the tv on they had finished. lol

What did they say, apart from how wonderful HR is?

No you didn't they hadn't started as they were too busy blowing smoke up fergies arse.

Talking about saints now. They really are a clueless bunch. Talking about the southampton 'board' being trigger happy because they sacked Pardew immediatly after a good away win! as if they'd not considered any other match performances!

They also said that the spending of so much money puts Adkins under preassure. Not a lot else really

F### all really. Adkins under pressure from a trigger happy boardroom increased by the amount of spend. Showed the back page of the paper but obviously no more to it than that. They have no more a clue than you and I...

Next couple of months are going to be make or break for Nigel. While the league position remains as it is, he is going to be the subject of constant speculation. He's never managed Premier League before and the team are in the relegation spots. I know it is premature and all that, but that's about the level that the media operate at.

I don't think it's a bad thing. Though I hate to say it, being scared of your boss, your job, or in Nige's case, your overall credibility as a Prem manager, might not be an entirely bad thing.

I reckon thats the first of about a dozen jobs old saggy chops will be linked with in the run up to Premier League shooting season, we just happened to come out the hat first :?

Talking of Harry, does anyone else think that ad for Sky's Fantasy Football with him using a laptop is taking the **** big time considering his "defence" for tax evasion was that he "couldnt use a comuter, cant text" etc etc and is basically a techno retard ?

Sure there is more pressure because of what is at stake. But I do not think that you can tarnish the boards name because of the way Pardew was fired.

Pardew was sacked for lots and lots of terrible performances was he?

If you say so.

We'll see if they are clueless about Cortese being trigger happy come October/November.

I was just about to read the same thing. We write on here about NC will do this, NC wont do that, yet the write about the 'board'. They have no in-sight into the way saints run, they have no insider knowledge, or else they would have released the Ramirez story over a week ago, and if you remember the departure of Pardew, that came as a shock to many, including all the Tabloids that were two days behind.

Utter utter crap.

IF NC even SPOKE to HR, as soon as HR asked if there was a 'Sweetie' in it for him, NC would get up and walk away. And if he was looking for a replacement, it would be a big name from abroad i believe.

Where does Spudgun say anything about terrible performances with Pardew? No-one seriously still believes Pardew was sacked for footballing reasons, do they? Pardew was good for us, but he really wasn't the greatest tactician, I guess you were not at Swindon (away). Quite honestly if NC fires Adkins in October/November I'm not sure I would call that trigger happy, 2 years is a long time in football management these days.

And another thing. Apparently Adkins was off due to lack of spending - we just spent 30 million quideroony on players.

It seems that now they can't hack the mobiles of the rich and shameless they are back to making things up.
