sir woody Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 After the last few amazing days and the end of the window, with all the money spent and loads of new players coming in will we come back down to earth with a bump tomorrow. I hope not but knowing us we'll probably get walloped. I'm going for 1-2 United.
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 1-2 is hardly a spanking. :-/
St.Thomas7 Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 Yeah... I think we're gonna get humiliated 0-0
Avenue Saint Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 Even if we lose 4-0, it doesn't matter. Let's get our new buys settled or AT LEAST playing first, then we'll see... Yoshida, ram and lee- am so looking forward to!
Avenue Saint Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 For what it's worth I think we'll lose but only after a good performance. 1-2
sotonjoe Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 I think we will be soundly beaten by three goals to one. I fear it could be worse.
Saintandy666 Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 Probably. Not that it matters at all. I think we can all start to judge how good/bad we are in this division over the next few weeks now our team is assembled.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 We will get beaten comfortably, but as people have already alluded too, these games are freebies. If we are still bottom with zero points come mid October then I will begin panicking?
saint_disco123 Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 you lot are just the worst! we are more then capable of beating manure utd. some of the things that we are going to need are effort, spirt and above all the rest backing from the fans! sing your heart out when we either go 1-0 up or 1-0 down! going for a 2-0 win to saints COYR!
Wes Tender Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 you lot are just the worst! we are more then capable of beating manure utd. some of the things that we are going to need are effort, spirt and above all the rest backing from the fans! sing your heart out when we either go 1-0 up or 1-0 down! going for a 2-0 win to saints COYR! This /\. Take last season for instance. Although they suffered defeats at the hands of the likes of Citeh, it was 6-1 at home. And the fact that they were knocked out of the cup by Palace? OK, they fielded a weakened team, but I'm certain that Ferguson didn't actually want to go out of the competition and not to the likes of them; it was humiliating. And they were knocked out of the Champions League by that powerhouse of European football Basle. They then suffered another home defeat by eventually relegated Blackburn. Other defeats were against Newcastle, Liverpool and Wigan. So a season where they won nothing, not even the Europa Cup. So what is their confidence like, especially having been beaten by Everton recently? OK, they have Van Persie now, but no Rooney or Young. For them, we are an unknown quantity, heck, even to us our team is an unknown quantity in some areas. Tactically Adkins has to get it right, or we could be hammered. But equally United have to figure out how to play us too. On paper, they have by far the stronger team, but we should be a better team on paper than the one that gave Citeh a fright.

I hope not but knowing us we'll probably get walloped. I'm going for 1-2 United. 2-1 by Man U is a walloping ? We lost 2-0 at home to Wigan ! I think we'll lose by a couple, FWIW, and Lambert could be on the bench again. One thing's for sure, he's not going to play fewer Prem matches than Sharp this season now - didn't see Mayuka and Rodriguez coming when I said that !
SNSUN Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 As long as we make a ManCity-esque go of it. I'd love us to do them, and renew our position as Man U's bogey team, but I understand it'll be tough. JWP to start and impress, Mayuka to come on and scare the bejeezus out of them.
Thedelldays Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 I'm there anyway....the last time I was at SMS we beat cov 4-0...make of that what you will
terrypward Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 I am that confident that when my manc supporting mate (from Bursledon) bet me a Jeff Kenna that they would beat us by 3 clear goals (and van Persie would also score in said win), I took the bet.

Window Cleaner Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 Depends on whether we can score before they do, the result is .down to our front men, if they're mute again and can't convert the chances that are created for them at the outset we will probably get dumped on.
terrypward Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 The odds are in your favour, at least. I did find it puzzling he wanted to have this bet with me instead of sticking it on at the bookies - he would have got 7/1.

Supersubpuckett Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 sadly i think we will get a hiding by at least 4 RVP vs fonte/hooiveld.....mmmmmm
Window Cleaner Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 sadly i think we will get a hiding by at least 4 RVP vs fonte/hooiveld.....mmmmmm maybe he'll have an off day
Appy Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 maybe he'll have an off day Everytime RVP has played at SMS he has been sent off. FACT.
Minsk Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 I have been thinking long and hard about what prediction to make for this match - I think the pressure of being joint top of the prediction league after a massive 3 games is getting to me. Before the season started I was certain that we would get a hammering in this match, and especially so when they signed RVP. However, I have watched both of their matches live (we have about 5 prem matches on every weekend here) and, to be honest, United have shown nothing special thus far. Against Everton they very poor, certainly until going behind; then Fulham gave them a good run for their money last weekend (although RVP's goal was class). Today the same Fulham were completely outplayed by Wet Spam, who were themselves given a lesson last week by Swansea. It's a funny old game. Then I keep remembering back to all those other home ties against United - 3-1 (grey shirts); 6-3 (one of the best matches I have EVER attended); 1-0 (last minute header by BT). In fact, that last ne was the last time y missus and I watched a Saints/ManUre match together in a pub - something we intend to repeat tomorrow..... So, the more I think about it the more chance I feel Saints have of getting something from the game. Or maybe it will be a draw..................... Right now, who knows whether we will win, lose or draw? I certainly don't think it will be a spanking though, but can I get back to you this time tomorrow???? As for my prediction this week....................................................... I still haven't decided yet.............................
suewhistle Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 However, I have watched both of their matches live (we have about 5 prem matches on every weekend here) The best thing about being in the top division (whatever it's proper name these days)! The only problem being when it clashes with local teams on the box in the local bars. I'm with you though - I haven't decided: it could go either way.... Having seen them live giving Citeh a run for their money I wouldn't write anything off although I'm ready for the worst. That would disappoint me though.
chocco boxo Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 We will win 2-0. Step up to the plate Jay Rod I have a feeling it will be your day.
BlagdonSaint Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 I will be supporting my team & singing loudly, whatever the result. Having said that , if I am told to " Sing my heart out for the lads " by a select bunch of morons I will keep quiet from then on. Embarrising.
Legod Third Coming Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 We will win 2-0. Step up to the plate Jay Rod I have a feeling it will be your day. I hope so, he is one of my football bets of the season: Jay Rod Top Scorer - 100/1. Others if you are interested (You're probably not): Liverpool - relegation - 80/1 Saints - League winners (each way 1/3 1,2,3) - 2500/1 QPR to finish bottom - 16/1
Saint J 77 Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 I have a funny feeling we might get something, dare I say it, even get a shock win!?
CB Fry Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 I have decided to go for two all. This is new Southampton and we are going to be banging them in. And letting them in.
dannysfc Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 It will be so Amazing to pull it off and Win But I can see it being 3-1 them But stranger things have happened and as long as We give it a go then that will do me!!! COYR!!!
BadgerBadger Posted 1 September, 2012 Posted 1 September, 2012 I really hope we take it too 'em, there's goals to be had against Man U as I think there is against us........3-3
Miltonaggro Posted 2 September, 2012 Posted 2 September, 2012 Felt that the Man City game would be tight, and gut feeling is this will be also. Five goals, 3-2 to us or them...
AussieDog Posted 2 September, 2012 Posted 2 September, 2012 Not sure which of our new signings may be eligible to play. If we keep the same side as Wigan then 3-1 loss. If we go with a more attacking line up then 5-3 Utd...if we can improve the back line (but not our attack) then 1-1. If we can imrove back and front, then a 3-1 win to us. Have I covered all my bases here? lol
sammysaint Posted 2 September, 2012 Posted 2 September, 2012 Evans is dodgey De gea is quality but cant handle psychical stuff, SAF will play his old boys giggs and scholes who wont be allowed time on the ball, i think a draw, UTD will score there attack is too strong for us. I think 2-1 Utd or maybe 2-2
ottery st mary Posted 2 September, 2012 Posted 2 September, 2012 Saints to win... COYS:) We can do it boyz..Give it to them:p Mind you...It will need an extra big effort on the coaching front:rolleyes: from my seat in the stands. WIFM
bender Posted 2 September, 2012 Posted 2 September, 2012 United have been poor so far. Depends heavily on RVP for me. If he gets going, we'll lose. If not, it could be a good day for me. Lets play our new Jap defender and tell him to take of RVP.

Lets B Avenue Posted 2 September, 2012 Posted 2 September, 2012 "Will we get a spanking from Utd?" 50 Shades of Grey Shirts?
Saint Fan CaM Posted 2 September, 2012 Posted 2 September, 2012 1-3 to the Mancs. We're not there yet and we're not old Saints Prem team we once were that used to be their bogey team. IF we can play our new signings we may get a sneaky draw, but I still think that NA will not have had enough time with them. One things for sure, if we start JayRod out on the wing it'll be slim pickings down the left.

Ramirez signed too late, and Yoshida does not yet have an entry permit and is away with Japan (as far as I can tell he he not even been to Southampton yet unless we got him down here unofficially during the Olympics). Not sure we will even see these two start against Arsenal as they will only have been back with the squad for a couple of days to quote NA.

You can bet your old boots that unless he gets an injury of some sort with Uruguay Ramirez will start against the Arse.NC hasn't paid 18 million euros for him to sit on the bench, NA won't get a choice.
