St Marco Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Listening to his comments now. "Really hope they go down" Knobber
Suhari Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Pretty stupid punditry. Shows his level of intelligence.
SOTONS EAST SIDE Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Typical ferkin Skate. if we do. Still be 2 leagues above Poorsmouth!!
SaintAndy14 Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 More insightful nonsense from Merson again. He's only on Sky Sports as some people find his stupidity funny.
Wiggles31 Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 What an absolute helmet. He's always had it in for us. Fat skate alcoholic.
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Ignore the Di ck...His opinion is worthless
Verbal Kint Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 I agreed with what he said apart from wanting us to go down of course. As an outsider I'm sure he isn't alone in wanting us to get relegated considering our chairman is a complete ******. Cortese has today shown what a classless ****wit he really is, but it won't stop mongs singing his name in a few weeks if we're beating Man City at home. We are the new Chelsea, but without the trophies

Cortese has today shown what a classless ****wit he really is, but it won't stop mongs singing his name in a few weeks if we're beating Man City at home. We are the new Chelsea, but without the trophies I really like Adkins and find the decision a bit bizarre. However, if we assume that Cortese's job is to try and make Southampton FC successful and it turns out that this decision actually helps to achieve that why would anyone singing his name be a "mong"?
studentsaint Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 What's the difference between him saying he wants us to go down and so many on here saying they want Qpr to go down and into admin with their ridiculous wages? No fault of the fans, just chairmen/managers? I think sacking Adkins at this point in the season is a massive shock and just the wrong decision. Perhaps the summer would have been better as the Spanish press sing this guy's praises. Right now, it could be too disruptive with us still in a precarious position.
BILLY Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Listening to his comments now. "Really hope they go down" Knobber Skate C u n t
Leicestersaint Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Merson is saying what many others are saying and thinking (e.g. look at BBC site). We have certainly lost a lot of people's respect by this cavalier decision. I don't wish Cortese dead but i wish him gone from Saints.
aintforever Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 To be fair most other football fans will have the same opinion as Merson.
Didcot Saint Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Sorry shouldn't have said that. Not a nice man though and I don't want the like of him at our club. Sorry again.
OldNick Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 Sorry shouldn't have said that. Not a nice man though and I don't want the like of him at our club. Sorry again.that was a bit of a outburst, it's football ffs
Saints foreva Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 I suspect a lot of the footballing world is hoping we go down now.
OldNick Posted 18 January, 2013 Posted 18 January, 2013 I suspect a lot of the footballing world is hoping we go down now.does it matter? Most of the football world hate Man U but it hasn't hampered them
St Marco Posted 22 March, 2013 Posted 22 March, 2013 Just listening to him on the fantasy football thing with Puncheon. Think this guy has to now be the guy I hate most in the football world. Simply cannot say anything nice about the club and Punch looked embarrassed with some of the things he said i.e Shaw. When Punch said Shaw was one of his fav players Merson did like a coffee over keyboard moment noise and said Shaw would not be at Saints next year, no chance. Punch kept it civil and just said he was a great player who is 17 but built like a man and the fastest player he has seen. Then when picking his team when he mentioned Lallana again he shat on him and then again with Lambert. I Understand there is a bit of banter what with being a skate but as a pundit he should be praising players like Lambo for what he has done. Add to that my bro watched soccer Saturday last week and said Mers was using any chance he got to knock the club. Even when the game was on he was making it out like we were not that good and Liverpool's chances were better then they were. Complete dickhead.
Appy Posted 22 March, 2013 Posted 22 March, 2013 He was very complimentary about us after the game last week.
The Kraken Posted 22 March, 2013 Posted 22 March, 2013 Quite why anyone would get so wound up and take so seriously anything that a washed up junkie and alcoholic would say is plain bizarre. Just laugh at him FFS. He's paid for being a national joke.

Appy Posted 22 March, 2013 Posted 22 March, 2013 Yep. A failed manager,a Skate, an alchy anda **** pundit. Do we give a **** what he says? 76 posts in this thread would suggest we do.
Saint Benali Posted 22 March, 2013 Posted 22 March, 2013 What an idiot. Why is he on TV? Must be doing lines with the producer or something....
david in sweden Posted 23 March, 2013 Posted 23 March, 2013 perhaps MLT has won him (Merson) over .....to support his (MLT's).. Anti-Cortese agenda?
Chez Posted 23 March, 2013 Posted 23 March, 2013 love the fact the skates are represented by such a fool. Shame most of the football population will associate him with Arsenal and Villa.
eurosaint Posted 23 March, 2013 Posted 23 March, 2013 I watched that show last night and (just for the sake of balance) I did not think that he was denigrating Saints at all ! His point about Shaw was that he is so good that he will quickly move to a top 4 club, he was very complimentary re. Lambo (even reckoned he should get an England chance!) and with Lalanna he said very skilful but not the complete player (check out the thread on here re. his shooting and we tend to agree !). The show is all about banter anyway so nobody should take it too seriously and I can't understand why some of you are getting so hot and bothered !
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 23 March, 2013 Posted 23 March, 2013 Just watched it, what was so bad about what he said. His point about Shaw was that he is SO good he's unlikely to be here next season, his points about Lallana were correct and he was complimentory about Lambert. God some of you guys are precious.

Crab Lungs Posted 23 March, 2013 Posted 23 March, 2013 For me, the only really horrible thing he's said about the club was after Adkins left. He's not as glowing as Claridge is about us and he still gets the "thick skate" treatment

He's a sh*t pundit who doesn't know what he's on about, yet when he is complimentary about Lambert, Lallana and Shaw then everyone is pleased about what he says. why? If he doesn't know what he is on about then he may well have got it wrong about all them and we should disregard the opinions of a sh*t thick skate pundit, failed manager washed up junkie alcoholic like we do when he he is saying stuff we don't like.
Charlie Wayman Posted 23 March, 2013 Posted 23 March, 2013 Well of course he's **** stirring like crazy, the comment about Shaw is designed to get into the lad's head and big him up so that he won't want to stay here - perfect agenda for a Skate. Happily, Luke Shaw seems to be very happy here playing every week, getting rave reviews and with a bunch of similar young ambitious lads who seem genuinely to enjoy being in each other's company. At 17 that's really quite important, why would he want to swap that comradeship for an uncertain future in a far off town were he'd have no friends or family at all Remember that first day away from home at Uni? Wasn't great fun was it?

oldskoolsi Posted 23 March, 2013 Posted 23 March, 2013 He's employed as a pundit for thew same reason most of the talk sport people are employed. Not for their intelligent insight but because the things they say attract controversy and get people riled up by speaking his mind. The only difference is I think Merson beleives what he says but Talk Sport presenters just make up stuff for the sake of being controvercial to get people calling in.

If a London team, especially Chelski were to come a knocking, he'd actually be closer to home, mates and his family though However 1st team football is likely to be a pipe dream, but his bank account would soften the blow.
Turkish Posted 23 March, 2013 Posted 23 March, 2013 He's a bit like you Turks: sometimes he talks sense, other times complete balls... We talk a lot of sense when we are drunk.

The only difference is I think Merson beleives what he says but Talk Sport presenters just make up stuff for the sake of being controvercial to get people calling in. A classic example of this was on talk sport a few weeks ago. I was driving pretty much all day so heard this develop and couldnt believe the sh*t stirring that was going on. After Rooney was left out for the Real Madrid game Paul McGrath was talking about it and saying he thought Ferguson might look to move Rooney on in the summer, this immediately became 'lots of speculation around Rooneys future, what do you think, call us on......' A Manchester journalist then came on and was asked about it, he said if they did want to sell him only 2 or 3 clubs would be interested and can afford him, PSG, Chelsea and Man City, he was then supposedly linked with these clubs. every ex player the spoke to was asked about it and gave their opinion and the story escalated during the day to Ferguson and Rooney had fallen out and he was on his way to one of those three for £25m in the summer. The whole story was developed by them and blown up because Paul McGrath said in the morning he wouldn't be surprised to see Rooney leave in the summer.

Luke Shaw the whey faced helpless lamb scared of leaving home. Keep em coming.
shurlock Posted 23 March, 2013 Posted 23 March, 2013 Merse's comments were all reasonable enough, though half of them represented U-turns in one form or another e.g. on Lambert. Either way, lets be clear that Merse is not hired as an analyst. He's paid to be the court jester and to shoot from the hip -roles he arguably carries off with aplomb.
