As said above use a kill cord. I would also recommend the use of footholds in the deck?

 

It looks like he doesn't know what to do when things start to go wrong as he just pulls randomly at the throttles.

 

And FFS sit your passengers down when at speed!

 

(and do a powerboat/FRC course if you are going to drive them.)
