Fantastic Signings so far....

Billy Sharp is a decent enough Championship striker but if we was Prem quality that is where he would be. As someone said though, the loan is a good move in case we do go down and need him back! Still worried about the left back position and the defence in general. Still, it will be interesting to see what the new signings bring to the team.

As for Lowe never spending £30m, he never had that kind of money to spend as it wasn't around in the early days of the Prem. NC has the benefit of a recent promotion and firm financial backing from the owners. You could argue that we have underspent given what established Prem club players spend on individuals but as Rickie only cost £1m you can find gems on the "cheap."

Find the post where I said that I would stop posting if Ramirez signed.

As I said before I promised if Hooper signed.

So do the honourable thing and find the evidence. I will be charitable and say that you are igniorant as opposed to lying.

So please stop this trolling or I will put you on my ignore list LOL !

No rupert and the other directors were happy to take the money put nothing into club and if we had have taken Davies and first we would have had lots of money but directors put themselves ahead of the club.

Pretty sure there is no evidence that Cortese has "put anything in" either. And he's on a hefty wedge, and was on one in L1 even. None of us know what Lowe would have done with a £50m pot of cash.

Not happy about Billy leaving, and I question why we have gone for signings who have no PL experience. For me, it's part of Cortese's masterplan for marketing Saints in South America, Africa, and Asia. I had never heard of any of these guys before, therefore I can only wait and see if they match up to the hype. How many Japanese central defenders have been successful in the Prem? Why didn't we strengthen midfield? Where is our PL standard goalkeeper? All pertinent questions IMHO. Having said all that, at least it seems that we are serious about life in the PL - judging by the fortune we've spent.

That's right, only signing players we've all heard of is the right transfer policy to adopt. I remember screaming out for us to sign Marian Pahars from the Latvian League for years before we actually did.

Where is the evidence that Lowe and the other Directors embezzled cub funds? They had to run the club on a shoestring and managed it very well for several years. Have you fogotten managing to stay up with 15k crowds at The Dell? I don't recall us have any super rich directors who could put their own money in. As far as I know NC doesn't either. We are where we are now because we are owned by a rich family. Lowe made a number of mistakes at the end but he was excellent in the transfer market given the money he had to play with. We are just fortunate now that there is a great deal more money to spend. Still no guarantee we will stay up though!

I'd be interested in knowing whether Nigel has given NC a list with the recent signings name on them. Lowe was often criticised for ignoring the managers and buying players himself. Given the diversity of players coming in Nigel must have a super insight into a very wide spectrum of players!

bought a new shotgun and a giant painting. He certainly would not have put it back into the club!

I'm talking about Lowe having a £50m pot in the club coffers not as a personal fortune. And you have no idea what he would have done.

What we do know is Lowe invested in training facilities, youth development, scouting, stadium infrastructure and growth through commercial activities. Just the same as Cortese.

How much has Cortese "put back in to the club" by the way?

its a very interesting debate........when lowe had the chance with what he had to make a difference, he got THAT wrong so many times.

Gray, Wiggly for example...that did not require £50m to find out.

as for NC...well I don't think he has put any of his personal wealth in. but what he has done (and that is not up for dispute imo) was brought Markus to the club and pushed us to where we are now......would you think of what we knew of lowe, we he have pushed the club to back to back promotions and brought in a multi billionaire etc..?

I think NOT....BUT, to ignore the good that lowe did is also silly..just a shame the idiotic decisions he made completely ruin he legacy

Anyway back on subject..........Great signings but.......we probably have one of the worse left backs in the Premier League - God help any team who have a worse one than us............So signings wise we are still woefully short in this area - bad move getting shot of Harding prematurely in my view and every team will know to attack us down that side with pace. So whilst we can get hysterical and wet ourselves over some great signings, are we leaving the back door wide open whilst we celebrate in the streets?
