Finally we nearly have a squad able to compete in the prem league. Good signings all of them so far and hopefully more to come later.

 

Exciting times are ahead; on Sunday Mayuka will want to make an impact whilst other established players will need to play the game of their lives to ensure they remain in the starting XI!! Could work very well for us against ManUre on Sunday!! COYR

easily the best transfer window I can ever remember for saints

 

2 keepers technically.

 

I'm chuffed to bits with our transfers. I still think we're one LB and one CB short of a complete squad but we've got enough in the tank with Yoshida on board to last us until January.

 

From what I've seen of Clyne so far, he's my favourite signing of the window. (and that includes Ramirez.)

Didn't we bring in Prutton and Higgingbottom in on deadline day once?

 

TBF at the time they were 2 top players from the Championship. Both really, really highly rated.

 

Didn't quite work out as well as we'd all hoped though.

Weirdly gets so much stick, but what Cortese has and is continuing to do to our club should never cease to be appreciated!

I wouldn't underestimate the positive affect that these signings might have on some current players.

 

The potential for natural width and pace on both flanks is a really key upgrade. It'll make us much better and quicker going forward, but it should help defensively as well. Fox should benefit because opposing overlaps down his side will become more risky and therefore less common; our CBs won't be sucked out of the middle so often.

 

What's going to be really interesting is to see which of our midfield players will find it hard to keep their place. I have a feeling that (other than Guly) Schneiderlin might be the first to sit on the bench rather than start, but Lallana needs to find a consistent role or else he could end up "on the bubble" for starting selection.

Well we needed lots of players otherwise we would have really struggled in the PL so I am not surprised that we got in so many

 

They are going to take time to get to terms with the PL so lets hope we start getting some points

 

I feel that until October we have some hard games but after that things should improve.

 

I still think we need a quality GK and a strong experienced CB but lets see this team develop and look to the future with a lot more confidence than we had earlier this week

Is the OP taking the ****? I genuinely don't think we have a squad capable of staying in the Prem. Our defence is **** poor and should've been the area we concentrated on. I'm not struck with any of our signings.

We've bought some interesting players on paper, but will they gell into a unit and turn it on in the PL ? This squad still has sod-all PL experience.

 

For me some of them are as big a risk as Billy is supposed to be.

I've actually lost what your point is? Your being nonsensical. We needed to improve the squad, and you've said that numerous times. So we've done that and you're now saying we're spending too much money going for good players and should have kept the same squad. I'm genuinely confused.
