MarkSFC Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Maybe he's not coping well away from family given what happened 10 months ago and wants to be nearer family. Couldn't blame him. Maybe its just pure footballing reasons. Either way good luck to the fella.
Roger Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 But this cant be right, the9 told me hed start more than lambert this season.
View From The Top Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Good player & seems a decent fella so a pity to see him go. No sentiment in football I'm afraid.

Thedelldays Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 I got the impression that his heart was never really down south...did not want to move to us first shout...then finally did after personal tragedy.....maybe he is happy to go back nearer home and to a good club with a good manager etc was great for the short time he was here and scored so many vital goals in the run-in
BadgerBadger Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Hope we see him back here after the loan but fill it may turn out permanment - shame would've liked to see him get a good run in the side
Nexstar Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 View to a £2.5m permanent, which surprises me a bit.
Golac's Cunning Stunts Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Sad about this. I really liked him as a bloke and as a player. He never really got a chance to show what he can do. He's a goalscorer - younger and better than Holt for example. No reason he couldn't have stayed and made a name for himself. I
Saint Scott Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Alan Nixon @reluctantnicko Billy Sharp to Forest on loan with view to 2.5m deal on verge. A lot wanted him including Huddersfield and Burnley ... Forest splashing big Nixon has been spot on all summer looks a goer.
ollysaints1 Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Thought we would get close to £4,000,000 for Sharp if we were to sell him. Forest getting a bargain
S-Clarke Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 At least we potentially make double on him in 6 months. We signed him for around 1.6m. But I'm also a little sad, a great fella. A proper footballer who is hungry for goals. Will always remember his goals against the Skates! But the reality is our sights are set very high, and he's not really going to be at the level we're aspiring to be at.
Thedelldays Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 be interesting to see who scores more. £8m Rhodes or £2m sharp...have sharp any day
Sheaf Saint Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Thanks for your contribution Billy. Good luck at Forest. I really hoped you would be given a good chance to prove yourself in the PL, and maybe one day you still will, be it with Saints or another club.
RedWillie Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Bought to score goals to get us promoted - He did that. Thanks Billy and good luck.
apdsaint Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Good luck Billy - Sure soon you will prove yourself in the PL
DrZuess1979 the 2nd Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Whattttt the fundge Not happy with this !!! If it s family reason then fair enough but still gutted Thanks sharpy total pro
supergoose Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Good luck Billy you're a top, top guy. We wouldn't be in the Prem if it weren't for your goals.
Graffito Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 In a way Sharp epitomises Saints' position and their predicament. He was signed to get the goals to help us over the line to promotion, which is exactly what he did. Once promoted, everything changes and the club has to look afresh at the squad. Despite the understandable euphoria of Ramirez's signing we still have a number of players that were playing in League 1 18 months ago. No disrespect to those players nor to where they have taken us from in so short a space of time, quite the opposite, but it remains to be seen whether we have the strength throughout the squad to succeed in the PL.
Saint Charlie Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 In reality he is behind Lambert, Jay, Mayuka and probably Lee for the CF spot - and I'm sure he is on 20k plus a week - can we afford to have a player on that much not playing often and maybe not making the bench?
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Keep up. I posted this at 6.54pm.

If he is off as seems likely, there's no point arguing the toss, but I don't really agree with this. IMO Billy is an out and out goal poacher/scorer. Certainly not the same type of player as Lee or Mayuka. Let's see what happens in December when Jayrod is injured and Rickie is knackered!
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 why did you put an O in count? poor spelling mate Here we go again. The *****es are at it once more. Now, where's the block option?

derry Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 I think we name a 25 man squad by tonight and then there are no changes until Jan 1st.
alpine_saint Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Confirmed. Joined Forest on loan. I'm gutted. He really made the difference last season, and thought he had a major role to play this season. I really hope the new signings work out, and that Billy is happy at Forest.

alpine_saint Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 This has definitely taken the shine off what has been turning out to be an impressive transfer window.
VectisSaint Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 This has definitely taken the shine off what has been turning out to be an impressive transfer window. Well, I guess you had to find something :-) Really like the fella, but looked a little short of class against Wigan. I feel the PL is a step too far for him, in any case Sharp and O'Driscoll work well together. We may see him back, I wish him well and thank him for his contribution but clearly he saw the writing on the wall.
Colinjb Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Something had to give with the signing of Mayuka, Ramirez and Rodriguez. Good luck at Forest Billy, a model pro. He deserves a crack at the Premier League eventually.
benjii Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Anyone who has actually seen him play much should know he's not a top flight standard player so this isn't surprising. That said, seems like a good bloke and will be remembered as part of a promotion winning team. Good luck Billy.
Dazza82 Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 15 goals by january! Thanks Billy and good luck. Always welcome back
ART Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 It is mental. The one striker who found the back of the net in pre-season. Where is Adkins sense of loyalty, especially as Billy was a former player of his. Has to be a personal reason in it, as he'd have really done well for us this season with decent players feeding him. Rarely felt so gutted on losing a player just as his moment of glory awaits.
Dazza82 Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Forest making way for him aswell http://www.nottinghamforest.co.uk/news/article/sky-blue-david-345102.aspx
disintegration87 Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 totally gutted. Can't believe it really. Very happy to see the Gaston announcement but really sad to see Billy go. Best of luck to him.
Chez Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Personally I'm quite pleased. I thought we might be stuck paying his wages whilst he was 5th or 6th choice. We need to lose a few to make room. Our wage bill must be getting out of hand. I've never really rated him myself and didn't think he was good enough for the Prem. No pace, average touch, crap in the air, doesn't hold it up well, no trick, average movement and I'm not even sure he is the best finisher in the world. All just IMO of course. Has to be one of the least surprising moves in football history seeing as NFFC had is player profile page up and ready months ago.

itchen_dan Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 He's gone. Season long loan. Fawaz_alhasawi: I'm honoured to announce that striker billy sharp is to spend the rest of the season on loan with us from Southampton .come on you reds .
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 FFS, thats mental. They're likely to have paid 1-2m for the initial loan though, so probably works out about 3.5m.
itchen_dan Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 officialsaints: Striker @billysharp10 has joined @Official_NFFC on loan for the rest of the 2012-13 season. Good luck, Billy! #saintsfc Mad IMO. Would've done a fantastic job here without doubt as impact player.
