John Boy Saint Posted 30 August, 2012 Share Posted 30 August, 2012 That's a bit of a shame me and Mrs JBS were jetting in from NY that morning and that game was a perfect fix for her Jet-lag....... me I would just stay up.

stevegrant Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 Lets hope they have a distant away game that week. Maritimo at home The Spurs game - also moved - follows an away trip to Maribor of Slovenia, so that's a bit more beneficial to us, although it remains to be seen how serious Spurs take the Europa League this season having not even qualified from the group stage last time. sotonian Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 I really can't see why clubs don't take the Europa league serious or even the league cup for that matter, apart from about 4 prem teams, the rest are unlikely to win anything else

Particulary in Newcastle's case. They rest players and play a weakened team in the Europa League to save them for the Premiership, where they try and finish high enough to qualify for the Europa League. Saint Garrett Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 I really can't see why clubs don't take the Europa league serious or even the league cup for that matter, apart from about 4 prem teams, the rest are unlikely to win anything else Probably because you have to play a ridiculous amount of games in the Uefa cup and all around eastern europe, and the prize money isn't worth it, compared with getting in the champions league. Someone like Spurs would have been far better getting in the champions league rather than going far in the Uefa, although they didnt end up getting into the champs league they were close. But yes, I don't understand why more clubs dont take the League cup seriously. I guess it's because they want to give their fringe players games and it is also an opportunity to blood younger players.

pingwing Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 About a week after the fixtures came out, it's on TV. Poo! Need to study these updates more closely in the future. Had all the TV changes till the end of this month sorted in my mind and was convinced Fulham at home wouldn't be a tasty tv fixture.
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 This pretty much sums up life in the premier****e. Fixtures getting moved all the time. It's a joke. Football should be played on a Saturday afternoon at 3pm. 4pm on a Sunday is not ideal when you've got young kids to get ready for school the following day. It makes taking them to away games almost impossible and makes me think twice about taking them to home games as I don't get back until gone 8pm. View From The Top Posted 11 September, 2012 Author Share Posted 11 September, 2012 didn't more games get moved last season due to us being on telly quite a bit etc...? More to do with having a successful season though. As a rule the NPC don't have the "Europa" issue.
Saint Fan CaM Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 Got to say - for once - I am delighted with the TV moves so far. Otherwise I would have missed 3 games!
CB Fry Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 I dont get it. Particulary in Newcastle's case. They rest players and play a weakened team in the Europa League to save them for the Premiership, where they try and finish high enough to qualify for the Europa League. This. Villa did precisely this a couple of seasons back. Mental. Winning any cup is better than a "good" league placing. Winning the Europa would be amazing and I'd take, say, 14th place to get it. Same with the other two cups. Just a shame those league placings are worth so much money these days.
CB Fry Posted 11 September, 2012 Share Posted 11 September, 2012 Oh, and just thought about David Moyes too. The biggest criticism he gets is "he's never won anything". Bet he'd take a couple of cups over a couple of league placings over the season.
John Boy Saint Posted 12 September, 2012 Share Posted 12 September, 2012 Got to say - for once - I am delighted with the TV moves so far. Otherwise I would have missed 3 games! For every positive there is a negative: coo-eee! I am your negative! Fixture list has conspired since day one and changes have rubbed my nose in it. Work, Weddings, Pre arranged weekends, see Wigan, ManUre, and Fulham scrubbed.............. You wait next week the nation will have a bout of Famine and Pestulance and Villa (my 1st game this season) will be abandoned due to the number of Frogs and Toads that have rained down onto the pitch. Both are subject to the vagaries of Sky scheduling too. We've got to be featured on live Sky at least 10 times this season, how many are we already signed up to ?
