SNSUN Posted 31 August, 2012 Share Posted 31 August, 2012 So who is Yoshida gonna kick out the team? Fonte or Hooivelt? Well Adkins likes his RCB's to be right footed and his LCB's to be left footed so I assume Yoshida will be to replace/stand in for Fonte. Whether that means he sees Seaborne as Jos's shadow remains to be seen.
The9 Posted 31 August, 2012 Share Posted 31 August, 2012 Just frustrating to watch as he has got the quality - the goals that he set up for Scotland recently showed that. Not sure if he can improve defensively though - time will tell as my feeling is we wont be signing a left back. He needs to step - although the same can be said for a lot of the players after the Wigan game, probably opened everyone's eyes to the challenge ahead. If Fontas comes in he's played LB and CB... The9 Posted 31 August, 2012 Share Posted 31 August, 2012 To be perfectly honest I don't care what these players DID, I only care what they can do. As for football being "unfair", it's a meritocracy, it is about as fair as it gets regarding who gets to play at what level. Fonte has looked the less comfortable of the two, but if we sign Fontas (or Kana-Biyik) as well as Yoshida then they could both drop out. Same with Fox and Boilesen. Onward and upward, the rest are being suitably compensated and have already tasted more success at Saints than 90% of the players through the 90s. I could be that our whole first choice back four from last season becomes our second choice back four this season, but we'll see. I still don't think we'll see another left back in, and we'll put our faith in Shaw instead. Another centre back is a possibility though, but time is running out. Any club will fight to keep their players today because getting replacements in will be tough. (Though for lower league clubs, they do have the loan window and free transfers.) With Yoshida on board, I'm happier than I was with our defensive situation. If all we sign today is Ramirez, I'll be happy. Fingers crossed for more though! david in sweden Posted 31 August, 2012 Share Posted 31 August, 2012 Players dont become bad overnight or do we just think they are not good enough for the prem. Sometime go na said that players that worked to get us to the prem (and those two grafted ) for the cause deserve their chance. Seems strange that he then off loaded harding as i think he is a great player, bit like dennis without the head butt maybe we are just saying that hoos and fonte need cover, not against that idea but as i said they have not become not good enough over night well let's put it this way. I don't think we'll see many more games with them playing together again....
