SO5 4BW Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 No it was Scott Marshall i think. Six signings - probably the last time we signed as many in such a short time. Ripley, Hughes, Howells, Marshall, Beattie and Mark Paul
Glasgow_Saint Posted 31 August, 2012 Author Posted 31 August, 2012 Beckford to Huddersfield? Glad we didnt get him last season
St Mikie Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Beckford to Huddersfield? Glad we didnt get him last season Never did rate him!
Hoggins Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Fontas, Ramirez and Del Piero all to sign today
hypochondriac Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Fontas, Ramirez and Del Piero all to sign today Would be the perfect window. I would go and buy a del piero shirt immediately.
Chin Strain Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Bentner to Juve...Joe Cole says no to Moscow.. Bendtner has asked for Del Pieros number 10 shirt too apparently. I'll give him something, he doesn't lack self confidence. Remarkable really considering his limited ability. Apparently Juve have said no.

Remarkable really considering his limited ability. Apparently Juve have said no. lol, that fella is full of it. Didn't he come out and say that he was the most gifted player at Arsenal at one point? He's a pretty average player, truth be told. But his confidence has probably given him the chance to join Juventus!

I bet gooners wish Theo has his confidence, but he never seems to really believe that he can be a top player. The biggest thing holding him back IMO.
Aura Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 News from the North West suggests Saints could still land Matt Phillips today - if they admit tapping him up. The Blackpool winger has put in a transfer request at Bloomfield Road, with Saints supposedly offering in the region of £6m for his services. However the Seasiders will apparently only sell if Saints admit approaching the player before offering the club a deal, according to the Blackpool Gazette .

I'd take Ince, though.
Saint Garrett Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 So #FFC accept a bid from #AVFC for dempsey. Will that now encourage bids from #safc and #lfc. Think this one may run a few hours!!
Rebel Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Don't really want him now. I'd take Ince, though. They won't sell Ince - we should go after Zaha from Palace instead if we want pace and potential
rickylambert Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Sir Alex Ferguson on Southampton: "Nigel Adkins has done a great job there. They have every chance of staying in the league." #saintsfc
S-Clarke Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 So #FFC accept a bid from #AVFC for dempsey. Will that now encourage bids from #safc and #lfc. Think this one may run a few hours!! Aston Villa? blimey. They won't get him, but it'll at least make the fans feel they're being ambitious.
Saint Garrett Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 They've also signed a forward from Chesterfield and have bid £2.5m?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!1 for DALE STEPHENS. World has gone mad.
Frank's cousin Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Sir Alex Ferguson on Southampton: "Nigel Adkins has done a great job there. They have every chance of staying in the league." #saintsfc ''We're coming for ya!'
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Would be the perfect window. I would go and buy a del piero shirt immediately. I'll get it tattoo'd on my face. (don't hold me to this)
beatlesaint Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Sir Alex Ferguson on Southampton: "Nigel Adkins has done a great job there. They have every chance of staying in the league." #saintsfc typical bloody patronising statement from Fergie towards a club NOT in the top 6 !!

sotonist Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 However the Seasiders will apparently only sell if Saints admit approaching the player before offering the club a deal, according to the Blackpool Gazette . Didn't they say they had proof? Why do they need an admission of guilt?
Saint Garrett Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Sure there is a chance our fringe players could move somewhere - whether that is on loan or permanently. By that I mean. Dickson Butterfield Reeves De Ridder Hammond Chaplow Sharp
Greenridge Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 I can't see Sharp going but stranger things have happened in football
SO16_Saint Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Sure there is a chance our fringe players could move somewhere - whether that is on loan or permanently. By that I mean. Dickson Butterfield Reeves De Ridder Hammond Chaplow Sharp thats a pretty good Championship team

Dickson Butterfield Reeves De Ridder Hammond Chaplow Sharp I think most of them will go out on loan rather than be transferred out - gives us a plan B for next season if plan A doesn't work this season and we get relegated!
david in sweden Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Any chance that Chaplow might move to Brighton? is that in hope ....or expectation?
itchen_dan Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 bbcsport_david: Southampton have this morning contacted Chelsea over availability of Benayoun. QPR & Stoke also showing interest #bbcfootball #saintsfc #cfc
saint lard Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 David Villa to Man City. And yes I would take Benayoun.great little player.
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Van Der Vaart off to Hambrg. Odd one.... One of his old clubs and apparently his wife still lives/works there.
DT Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Oh dear. Hope interest in Benayoun does not signify deal for Ramirez stalling.
beatlesaint Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 bbcsport_david: Southampton have this morning contacted Chelsea over availability of Benayoun. QPR & Stoke also showing interest #bbcfootball #saintsfc #cfc yes please !
Fozzybear Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 bbcsport_david: Southampton have this morning contacted Chelsea over availability of Benayoun. QPR & Stoke also showing interest #bbcfootball #saintsfc #cfc I thought he was heading back to WHU. Odd one to be linked with us, I'd frankly be amazed if we got him, not the kind of player I'd expect NA to be chasing.
Saint Garrett Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Benayoun...average player who hasn't really played for the last 4 years. Likely on huge wages. No thanks.

The Juve president has even come out and publicly said that whilst Bendtner isn't the standard of player they were hoping to sign, they were desperate for another a striker. LOL
miserableoldgit Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Benayoun would be class Benayoun...average player who hasn't really played for the last 4 years. Likely on huge wages. No thanks. Blimey! Who do you believe??
SaintDan Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Helicopter hovering over the water by town quay........Owen to add to our 15 strikers?
Saint Charlie Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Benayoun would fit right in. Quality player on his day.
Saint Garrett Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Benayoun would fit right in. Quality player on his day. Chaplow is a class player 'on his day'
DT Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Benayoun just confirmed he's in talks with two Prem clubs about a loan move
This Charming Man Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Chaplow is a class player 'on his day' Just not in the same class as Yossi. You would have to be pretty mental to even try and compare the two.
fish fingers Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Chaplow is a class player 'on his day' Which day was that?
Rebel Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Benayoun will be on massive wages in relation to his ability - no thanks!
Fozzybear Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Transfer news just in on BBC website: Portsmouth have snapped up the signature of ex-Sheff Utd midfielder Jonny Ertl on a month-long loan. Transfer coup of the day so far. Well done them
beavis17 Posted 31 August, 2012 Posted 31 August, 2012 Andy from West Sussex, via text: "Hearing rumours that Wilfred Zaha has just arrived in Southampton, his pace would be a great addition to the Saints!" BBC Sport's Jeremy Butler: "Championship club Charlton are in talks with Premier League side Southampton over signing 29-year-old midfielder Dean Hammond."
