david in sweden Posted 30 August, 2012 Share Posted 30 August, 2012 Signing a decent keeper on high wages and then signing another just because he's had a few iffy games are the actions of a very confused club. QPR smells of instability and zero long term planning. Thats a recipe for big trouble. ...and a prime candidate for one of the " drop-spots ". david in sweden Posted 30 August, 2012 Share Posted 30 August, 2012 lol I don't even think he's allowed to transfer two times in one transfer window? .....and you'd be right, (I'm sure that q. came up when we brought Jos in...last season)

Saint Garrett Posted 30 August, 2012 Share Posted 30 August, 2012 .....and you'd be right, (I'm sure that q. came up when we brought Jos in...last season) I dont think you're able to play for 3 clubs in a season, but think you may be able to leave in the same transfer window you joined, though not sure....MLG ? FMPR Posted 30 August, 2012 Share Posted 30 August, 2012 Jay Rod may well be on £25k as a basic wage. Then you factor in appearance fee, goal bonus, avoiding relegation bonus, scoring certain number of goals in a season bonus, % wage rise per year, image rights. Would say with all that easily come end of the season it works out hes on £35k-40k per week. Its the same with Ramirez, basic is £48-50k a week then you have all the add ons which will take him nearer £65-70k.
Torres Posted 30 August, 2012 Share Posted 30 August, 2012 Jay Rod may well be on £25k as a basic wage. And he may well not be. Glad we've cleared that up.

Marino Posted 30 August, 2012 Share Posted 30 August, 2012 Green no thank you . The poor bloke looks gormless too, reminds me of that other excuse for a keeper, Roy Carroll.
Flyer Posted 30 August, 2012 Share Posted 30 August, 2012 I note you still haven't admitted you got it wrong with your claim QPR have a category one academy, when in fact they didn't even apply for such a status yet alone achieve category 1 status. Nor have you acknowledge that simply wanting a new stadium means you will soon have a new stadium. Brighton for example took over 14 years to get a new stadium, numerous other examples around the county of long waits to move - including Saints. Saints are signing players with huge potential in their early 20's on relatively small wages. QPR are bloating their squad with players with big rep, relatively old, huge wages and little sell on value. If relegated you will struggle to remove some of them from the wage bill without taking a huge financial hit. Signing players like Nathaniel Clyne and Gaston Ramirez, along with having one of the best academies in England is a far better long term strategy. How much more wrong could you be? It was confirmed on the official site for the training ground to be completed in 2013. How does a club apply for an academy when the facilities arent built yet? Granero has signed from Real Madrid, hes 25, Mbia is due to sign too and hes 26 and we are after Kjaer whos supposedly signing whos just 23. Even with all those signed, we will still have spent less than Saints if you sign Ramirez. Cesar is supposedly on just 40k a week. Saints are trying to do a Norwich and that results in relegation 90% of the time and this season is the worst year ever to be relegated. Id rather sign genuine top class players than the likes of Jarvis for £12m or Rodriguez for £7m. If we stay up then you will be wrong, if we go down then you will be right. Lets see in 8 months time. The Kraken Posted 30 August, 2012 Share Posted 30 August, 2012 Cesar is supposedly on just 40k a week. Leaving aside the rest of your post, as I'm sure Captain Pedantic will be w*nking himself silly about picking holes in it.... Your 40K comment is the most worrying one for me. Not necessarily about your survival or anything like that, but how ridiculously beyond your means you are spending. "Only" 40K per week, from a team who have a 20K stadium. How much are you paying your other stars if £40K is a relative bargain? The parallels with Portsmouth are truly shocking, except for the fact that (like us) your owners seem to have turned your debts into equity or paid them off. Ours do, thats the difference. The 40k being a bargain was in reference to getting a world class goalie on less than average PL wages. We are building a 45k stadium so the owners will cover the losses until thats built and then the club will be sustainable. We have a massive following in asia and sold millions of shirts and also the sky money is huge next season, £60m which means the stadium capacity is less important. We will probably spend around the same or less (if you sign Ramirez) than Saints on new players this season and that will include wages. Cesar over 4 years works out £5m cheaper than Rodriguez if hes on 30k and Cesar 40k.

They were bankrolled by Mandaric, then Gaydamak until the money ran out and he stopped funding them, after loading the debt onto the club. I have no exact idea of QPR's funding but to say there are no parallels to Pompey is a bit naive. It'll be nice to have a 45K stadium. Will you actually fill it (apart from the 5 or 6 big games per season)?? I know that Saints wouldn't. 40K would be a push for us even against the top sides, and not much chances against the regular sides (as our 29,604 against Wigan testifies). As CB Fry says, when is it opening? I don't doubt that Saints are spending respectively hugely this summer. I don't deny I have certain worries about it, given our previous history with administartion. That said, I'm fairly sure the wages we are paying our current squad are completely sustainable given the influx of Sky money and the revenues a full stadium will start producing. And the idea of our purchasing strategy is that our players have a re-sale value in excess of what we pay for them. Rodriguez is 21 and will hold a decent value while with us. Cesar is 32, so worth close to zero when done with QPR.
