PL slow start to be expected

Although I agree and we have been dealt some tough fixtures, I personally (along with others im sure) was thinking that we could carry the momentum from the last few seasons into the start of the season this year. Just don't want us to be cut away by October.

not sure how the past comes into play but I've never known us to fly out the blocks, and the only time I can remember us winning the first game was against Coventry mid 90s?...

There or thereabouts. Certainly we lost the first 5 - the only team to stay up having done so

 

Edit: just checked, 1 point from the first 8 (1-1 draw at home v Spurs), 2 from the first 9 (1-1 draw at Arsenal), then beat Coventry in the 10th game 2-1.

Not even sure that's the be-all. Wigan recovered well last season so it can certainly still be done. Plus we could definitely have been given a worse set of fixtures through April and May.
