Thedelldays Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 b: @reluctantnicko Hi again Alan. This CB, would he be a starter? A decent PL defender? reluctantnicko: @adkinsisourking At 6 - maybe more - he would be a starter all right. Seems he is very very good going from Nixon's comments. This narrows it to Hangeland, Shawcross or Davies IMO. huth
Saint Garrett Posted 29 August, 2012 Author Posted 29 August, 2012 He's already said it's not Davies.
MOSaint Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Also won't be Shawcross he's talking about as Nixon says this player was watched last night and Shawcross didn't play.
Thedelldays Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Would take him. well, if this player played last night...huth also played..would be very happy with him.. he is a beast
skintsaint Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Huth has just recovered from an illness so maybe checking him out to see if it had affected him at all long term?
Thedelldays Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Tomkins didnt play either huth or hangeland.. HELL YEAH
Saint Charlie Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Stoke have been linked with a move for Michael Dawson now so might have a space to let someone leave?
Griffo Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Or maybe this Nixon bloke is just talking complete sh*t...
Aura Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Or maybe this Nixon bloke is just talking complete sh*t... Why would he do that? he is pretty ITK does not seem to get much wrong.
Saint Garrett Posted 29 August, 2012 Author Posted 29 August, 2012 Or maybe this Nixon bloke is just talking complete sh*t... Or you're just not wanting to believe him. He's been right with Sharp, J-Rod, Clyne, Ramirez, Gazza, and Mayuka. No reason for him to lie, just loses him credability.
hypochondriac Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Or maybe this Nixon bloke is just talking complete sh*t... Maybe but he was right about every other one of our transfer targets this season and called mayuka when everyone else was saying qpr.
hypochondriac Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 would love that So would I. Not sure why stoke would sell though.
Saint_Randell Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Would Caulker have possibly played for Tottenham reserves last night? Also has he definitely said it's a CB and not LB?
SuperSAINT Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Hangeland is a beast. Fulham won't have any players left at this rate.
Webby Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 huth or hangeland.. HELL YEAH Neither would be worth 6m though would they?
Griffo Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Maybe but he was right about every other one of our transfer targets this season and called mayuka when everyone else was saying qpr. Haven't heard of him before, didn't know he had been reliable with our past signings. Fair play if he's right then.
Thedelldays Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Neither would be worth 6m though would they? absolutely they would
hypochondriac Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Neither would be worth 6m though would they? Huth would
Webby Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 absolutely they would Hangeland is 31 and has a year left on his contract. 3m I'd say.
S-Clarke Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Christ, if it's Huth I'll be jumping. Absolute class PL CB. Beast of a player. Stokes defensive success has been built around him, IMO a better and more experienced player than Shawcross. Stoke fans worship the guy, a real warrior of a CB. Puts every part of his body on the line for 90mins. If we get him and Ramirez then the current European ambition has serious foundation
Webby Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Huth would Yeah, Huth is 28, probably peak age for a CB.

RedAndWhite91 Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Nixon knows his stuff and knows what he is on about.
Jack Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 might be figueroa as LB/CB? Makes sense. It's clear we've been interested in replacing Fox as starting LB. Good player and scored an absolute screamer last night.
Crazy Diamond Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Nixon knows his stuff and knows what he is on about. Always reassuring when someone knows what they themselves are saying.
S-Clarke Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Z.Knight or T.Ream from Bolton ?? They don't exactly fit in with the terms ''excellent'' or ''better than we have''.
Saint Charlie Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 They don't exactly fit in with the terms ''excellent'' or ''better than we have''. Or the "6m but that might not be enough" comments. Knight was available for free this summer anyway.
Aura Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Maybe Ashley Williams from Swans? long shot i know just another name
Saint Charlie Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Maybe Ashley Williams from Swans? long shot i know just another name Didn't play last night.
jasonb Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 I once gave Huth a ride in a Noble M400 up and down the Knowsley express way in Liverpool. Chelsea were staying in the hotel near the airport prior to a CL game against Lpool. The company I used to work for were having a press day where we hired loads of super cars to ferry press to and from the airport/hotel. I didn't know who the hell he was until my boss pointed it out to me. Drogba was next in although they all got told off by Chelsea mangment for hanging around with a load of video game types. He showed himself up by telling me his 911 turbo was faster than the Noble... oh how I chuckled Prem footballer in knowing nothing about the cars they buy shocker!! :-) Would be a good signing though.. been solid and consistent for a number of years now.
wireframebox Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 They don't exactly fit in with the terms ''excellent'' or ''better than we have''. .. or Premier League?...
John Boy Saint Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 are you sure we really need a CB? The writing has been on the wall for a while that we need one. A little surprised we let Martin go out on loan as I thought the more pitch time he had the better he got, that said he always seemed assured when asked to start in previous years, unless he was the sacrificial lamb in the Clyne deal? With them and Fonte not wishing to re acquaint themselves with each other.
The Cat Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Alan Nixon will be glad when the transfer window is closed as he won't keep getting pestered by tweets from random Saints fans foaming at the mouth for a nugget of transfer information. Seriously some people need to get a grip!
itchen_dan Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 SimonPeach: I understand Gastón Ramírez's move to #SaintsFC is still on course. He could be one of three new faces at St Mary's before the week's out.
Crowds Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 Rhys Williams. I heard a rumour about williams a week or two back... Hmm
SuperMikey Posted 29 August, 2012 Posted 29 August, 2012 John Heitinga could be leaving Everton, would be a great signing for us.
