Interesting summer spending table

Chelsea £72.5m

Man Utd £48m

Arsenal £44m

Liverpool £27m

Sunderland £25m

Spurs £23m

Wigan £16m

Man City £15m

SAINTS £11.5m

Everton £10.5m

W Ham £9.5m

Villa £8.7m

Norwich £8m

Newcastle £7.7m

QPR £6.5m

Reading £5.3m

Swansea £5m

WBA £3.5m

Stoke £3m

Fulham nil

Of course all this will change by the end of the week but goes to show that at the time this table was compiled, Saints were 9th in the spending league.

No info on players wages

Also I guess Saints would be higher up the spending table if net payments were compiled as we have not sold anyone of any substance this transfer window.

Part of me is pleased that we have spent out, as it is a necessity, but the cautious part is concerned about the ramifications if the expenditure doesnt work out well.

So much for Sunderland reigning in their spending.

And swansea look to have done some terrific business, -£10M net spend and a couple of real bargains in Chico and Michu.

Not sure of the relevance of this table; our squad needed more done to even approach PL standard.

I would guess the relevance is that it shows how much our club have spent in relation to others in the league.

Balls I'm already tired of hearing bout the yoyo strategy!

Scary thing is we're gonna be hearing bout it for at least the next 8 or 9 months till we either stay up or go down, which at current Dalek posting rate means about 450 mentions.

That would only really work for net spending, ie Wigan have pretty much evened out their figure by selling Moses.
