david in sweden Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 We are all aware of Tommy's " non-career " with Saints, but it seems that he's not the only one to have been frozen out at Spurs. according to a small article I read today, David Button (now 23) has at last been transferred to ..Charlton (fee 500K) ...after playing for Spurs only 8 minutes in the last 7 years. In that time, Button has been loaned out ....13 times (is this a record ?)... Can he really be as bad as " our Tommy?" Time will tell, but as Tommy continues to warm the Gills ' bench.... Button is likely to get first team action at Charlton... We can monitor future score lines with interest. if nothing else it will provide the hacks with a few headlines in the future. I can see: Charlton sew up Button in new deal...might be a good starter.
itchen_dan Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 No, Button is actually a decent keeper. Was pretty decent at Plymouth in their League 1 relegation season and was on loan at Doncaster last season where he did pretty well. Good Championship keeper IMO. david in sweden Posted 28 August, 2012 Author Share Posted 28 August, 2012 Just what was missing, a thread about Tommy Fourpast! I actually meant it to be about David Button (poor sod) ....Tommy was just the "Saints connection " i.e EX Spurs .

So a thread on a saints forum about a player that has been frozen out at Spurs. Fascinating stuff.

Crazy Diamond Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 Button was on loan at Bournemouth I think, was indeed a bit crap if I recall.

Just because you've leaped to the top of the nominations for most pointless thread of the year.

max_saints Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 cheers for that interesting fact. I would assume many players at the big clubs have non-careers though, we just don't hear or even know about them
Deano6 Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 Surely if he's been loaned out 13 times in 5 years its no surprise he's not had much playing time at Spurs. Not sure what point you're trying to make with that. It's not like these teams aren't playing him - he's played over a hundred league games (ok, a handful were non-league) and he's only 23. Tommy Forecast on the other hand in the same period has played just 22 games, of which only 4 (his first 4) were at a league club. Nothing wrong with being loaned out if you're getting games. Especially at a young age.
Wade Garrett Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 Answer to the original post: They're both goalkeepers, apart from Tommy Forecast.
melmacian_saint Posted 28 August, 2012 Share Posted 28 August, 2012 Button was good on FM2012 for Leyton Orient when I played them. Played all 46 league matches, conceeded 41 as I finished 2nd, average 7.01 . But then again Pablo Couñago who I think is now almost retired scored 23 goals (went on to score 18 in my first Championship season), so not sure about the realism of it. I also checked and Forecast is unemployed a season after being released from Saints.
