Has anyone here used ' Moonfruit ' to build and host a website ?

http://www.moonfruit.com/

If so can you recommend it ? or advise me to steer clear of it ?

Thanks :)

Yes, I took over one someone else had set up and personally I found it very complicated to use, not very user friendly.

I found www.create.net much simpler and MUCH better at answering any queries.

Thanks for the link Wurzel, they look quite interesting. Moonfruit is flash based so not good for seo with google and the like, however they seem to have better templates than Create ?

over 10 years ago...bit naf aren't they?

The fact they been going over 10 years means they must be doing something right. Naf ? I don't know, thats what I'm trying to find out before I choose my hosting.

It's not the most intuitive builder in the world and is a real pain to manage updates and add content. Its pretty good for something like a basic home business front page, but as Wurzel says its not very user friendly so you won't want to be messing around with your site much.

What site are you trying to build then?

I have one site that I have had running for a few years now that ticks away in the background that I was thinking of freshening up a bit .....

http://www.diyblockpaving.com

I built it with Dreamweaver and its starting to look a bit dated and amateur.

However the main reason for considering Moonfruit / Create.net is I want to build a new website for my better half to sell her paintings and t shirts etc. I can't get my head round all this new css stuff and can't afford to chuck any money at it so just looking for a solutiom I can do myself to get a better looking website for her.

I dont necessarily want easy as such. I just want to be able to create a reasonable looking website on a budget without being a complete geek. I can use Dreamweaver as in the example website I posted earlier but thats a bit basic and amatuer looking. Moonfruit, Create or similar seem to be the answer for me so I'm just asking advice from people who may have used these online web builders themselves ?

You could just tidy up your current site with dreamweaver. Just chose a nicer colour scheme. http://bigcartel.com/signup basic site with 5 products. You may be able to direct your domain to it without the monthly free. It really wouldn't take too much time to get a basic website template online and customise it. Hosting can be picked up for next to nothing these days. Unless your budget is zero..I just wouldn't go near moonfruit or anything. Just because a company has been going a long time doesn't make it a good company, just ook at Pompey.
