ollysaints1 Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 I think QPR will probably get Mayuka ahead of us if im honest
MOSaint Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 I think QPR will probably get Mayuka ahead of us if im honest Appears to be the case, given the player himself is only talking about QPR interest.
shurlock Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Appears to be the case, given the player himself is only talking about QPR interest. Alan Nixon broke the story about QPR's interest; yet is convinced he is joining us.
Cheese on Toast Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Alan Nixon broke the story about QPR's interest; yet is convinced he is joining us. I think he'll go to Pompey
doggface Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 I have some interesting info on this one... A contact of mine is an African agent and they had Mayuka on their books as a kid. He had agred a deal to take him either FC Twente or Porto but he stitched them up and signed a 24 month FIFA agreement with Nir Kan...one of the top agents in Isreal and ended up at Maccabi Tel Aviv. Apparently a bit of a loose cannon at that age... having said that like alot of Africans apprently he is approx 24y.o! So let's wait and see on this one..... Apparently a top player very fast, great feet, best attribute is his finishing.
goneawol Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfer-news-rickie-1283963 Meanwhile, Southampton are ready to sign Zambia striker Emmanuel Mayuka - who is a personal favourite of club chairman Nicola Cortese. Saints have pushed ahead of QPR in the chase for Mayuka, who has caught the eye of Swiss-born Cortese while playing for Switzerland's Young Boys club, and are willing to pay him more than the Londoners are. Mayuka will cost around £3million and needs a work permit, but should be cleared to arrive before the window shuts on Friday night.

Saint Charlie Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Nixon right again...looks class and much needed pace.
pangy Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 #SaintsFC have agreed a deal to sign Zambia forward Emmanuel Mayuka from BSC Young Boys. Full story to follow at saintsfc.co.uk. Hopefully the first of many
Saint Charlie Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Another forward? Really? Totally different to anyone we have.
Saint Scott Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Don't know anything about him tbh but it's a signing. More to follow please Mr Cortese
SuperSAINT Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Another forward? Really? Not just that - Another striker to shoe-horn onto the wing.... I'm kidding -- Looks really promising. Bags of pace. Something we've really lacked. Now, if we can get a play-maker who can pick out a pass to put him through on goal....
itchen_dan Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/saints-make-mayuka-move-339701.aspx
Lighthouse Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Another forward? Really? More of a wide forward in our system. If he is playing out wide instead of Guly or Rod that's fine by me. Lambert, Rod, Sharp, Lee, Mayuka, Puncheon, Guly, Lallana, Ramirez? That's a lot of attacking tallent right there. Welcome aboard Yukka!
doubleonothing Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Does that mean a striker on the way out? Or are we going to play 2 up front. Surely we didn't buy j-rod to play on the wing did we?
itchen_dan Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/saints-make-mayuka-move-339701.aspx
pangy Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Another forward? Really? I think he is more of a inside fwd that can play wide and cut in. You have to remember you need a squad in the prem not just a team, the one thing our team lacks is pace and this guy looks like he has more than enough
hypochondriac Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Totally different to anyone we have. Wonder where he will play though.
St Chalet Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Hmm, maybe this fella is the lone striker to play in our new formation?
Saint Charlie Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/news/article/saints-make-mayuka-move-339701.aspx Sounds great, the kind of player other teams will hate to face.
Under Weststand Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Looks class lightning quick good feet as well just what we need some speed up front. Good call from Nixon once again.
Saint Charlie Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Must mean no Ramirez because according to some on here you can only negotiate for one player at a time.
Jack Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 This must be paving the way for some departures. Lambert Rodrigues Guly Sharp Lee Mayuka Ramirez? Puncheon That's a lot
Restark19 Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Anyone else wondering what's going to happen to Sharp? Something tells me he'll get phased out now, strange as he's only been at the club 8 months. He's definitely already behind Lambert and J-Rod and (even though i'm not 100% sure about his quality) will likely be behind Lee. Doesn't make sense to sign Mayuka for him to not play so I'm assuming Sharp will be behind him too..?
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Is lightning quick Jonno quick?
Thedelldays Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 This must be paving the way for some departures. Lambert Rodrigues Guly Sharp Lee Mayuka Ramirez? Puncheon That's a lot Guly
sfc4prem Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Will play on the wings or as an inside forward I imagine. Very, very, very pacey. Great feet, skills and finishing. I await for him to impress. Good signing IMO, and won't have cost too much.
markr27 Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Interesting that he appears to wear No.24 frequently in the youtube vid, and that number happened to be vacant in the squad list... Perhaps this one has been ongoing for a few weeks (like Ramirez )
Turkish Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Just seen Adkins describe him as 'lightening quick' sounds like the Zambian Jonathan Forte.
sambosa75 Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Decent. Anyone got an idea of the sort of fee involved?
Turkish Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Decent. Anyone got an idea of the sort of fee involved? The fee mentioned with QPR was about £3.5m I think. Guess it'll be around that.
doggface Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Hes definitely 21 have you seen his birth certificate? From what I hear he doesnt have one!
doubleonothing Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 (edited) Song? Mayuka ohohoh Mayuka ohohoh He comes from Zambia He is a quick f u cker Best I could come up with a short notice. Edited 28 August, 2012 by doubleonothing Damn iPad autocorrect
Saint Charlie Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 There's an African Nations this January so he will probably be missing for that.
Thedelldays Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Would imagine that is that with any potential Matt Phillips deal
pimpin4rizeal Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Looks good but lets hope he can play on the wing. Hes class on fifa too
Saint Charlie Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Would imagine that is that with any potential Matt Phillips deal Expect Blackpool want a crazy price which they are allowed to.
S-Clarke Posted 28 August, 2012 Author Posted 28 August, 2012 Well that's what you call Gazumped, signed under the noses of QPR who had already agreed a fee and contract with the player. He's not and out and out striker by the way. He's a very, very quick forward who can play anywhere along the front 3. So fits in with what we're been trying to do formation wise, and adds that much needed injection of pace and spark in the final 3rd we lacked so badly. Welcome aboard.
