swannymere Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 Fruit can be bad for you in large quantities. Diabetics have to be careful how much fruit they eat because of the fructose and fruit juice i almost as bad as regular soft drinks in terms of sugar content. gaz Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 Every night at work I have a fruit pot, red apple slices, red grapes and strawberries. I like fruit in jelly too like pineapple and mandarins, but they aren't cheap for a fairly small portion.

Bearsy Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 I eat a lot of bananas. I mean like a LOT of bananas! I love em but the main problem with bananas is you get such a small window of perfect ripeness, I reckon the moment when they're not too green and not too yellow is probably like about 3 minutes and as often as not it happens at 4am or whatever. They should invent a new type of banana that doesn't go over-ripe. Then they'd be my perfect fruits! I also like the grapefruit - they stay ripe for ages! - but the grapefruit is such a job to be eating! What i do is cut them in half and then use a small knife to cut the segments before spooning them out, but the prep time for a grapefruit is probably 5 minutes which is a lot worse than bananas which you just peel away. I've tried quarterising my grapefruit and biting them like a half-time orange but they're too big and too sharp and it hurts my mouth. Someone should invent a banana/grapefruit cross-breed! The Cat Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 Pears are rank. Plums erratic, when they are nice they can be a thing of beauty but more often than not the supermarket ones stay hard for 3 weeks before turning horrid. Everything else is great, especially the freshly picked raspberries that you eat before paying for at pick your own places.
The Cat Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 Bearsy going on about grapefruit has reminded me how minging they are. Even if they were crossed with Lucy Pinder's pussy they'd still be grim.

Now when you pick a pawpaw or a *****ly pear and you ***** a raw paw next time beware. Dont pick the *****ly pear by the raw paw when you pick a pear try to use the claw. But you dont need to use the claw if you pick a pear of the big pawpaw. Wise words.

Bearsy Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 What's really weird is how no-one hardly invents new fruits anymore. The last one I remember is blueberries which were invented bout 5 years ago, all the other fruits is the same fruits i was eating when i was a kid. Compare that with the evolution of cereals for example where they is constantly inventing new types! I used to have coco-pops, then sometimes I had Luck Charms or Bart Simpsons No Problemos but now the cereal aisle is like 3 times as long and includes all ones I've never even tried yet like Yoghurty Flakes and kraves and them bars what are cereals what don't need milks. norwaysaint Posted 27 August, 2012 Share Posted 27 August, 2012 Fruit is great and I eat tons of it, however soft fruits with stones in the middle, such as peaches, cherries, nectarines, mango and so on are strictly women's fruits. No man should ever be seen eating these fruits. Avocados are fine.

Such a shame it's ruined by c*nts putting it on pizza and selling it in cans. What's so c*ntish putting it on pizza? Goes perfectly, bit of anchovy too and you have a great balance imo. Apples have to be crisp. Braeburns my fave, most others I'll skip as they tend to be bland and sometimes mushy. Raspberries, cherries, peaches, watermelon (small ones), pineapple, passion fruit, cantaloupe.
