Suhari Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Can't see an actual predictions (rather than hcdajfu) thread, so here goes..... Who will we sign come the end of the transfer window? No prizes, it's just for fun. My view: CB - Dann CB - someone unexpected AM - Ramirez With Dann being done in the last 2 hours of the window.
Griffo Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Watching Football League Show last night, Dann made a huge f*ck up to gift Jamie Vardy a goal for Leicester. No thanks.
Colinjb Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Just for fun then. GK - K. Schmeichel DC - A random we've never heard of. AM - Phillips
Webby Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Watching Football League Show last night, Dann made a huge f*ck up to gift Jamie Vardy a goal for Leicester. No thanks. We can cross skirtel off the list then.
St Chalet Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Watching Football League Show last night, Dann made a huge f*ck up to gift Jamie Vardy a goal for Leicester. No thanks. But unfair to judge someone on the basis of one mistake.
hypochondriac Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 2 CB 1 LB 2 AM / Wingers That would be amazing. I reckon it will be more likely a CB and two wingers with another CB on loan.
JustMike Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 That would be amazing. I reckon it will be more likely a CB and two wingers with another CB on loan. yes, could happen. Either way, just hope it's a busy few days.
hypochondriac Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 yes, could happen. Either way, just hope it's a busy few days. I reckon that three or less signings will see us struggle to stay up. Might be alright with three though just need to inject some pace and urgency throughout the team.
JustMike Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 I reckon that three or less signings will see us struggle to stay up. Might be alright with three though just need to inject some pace and urgency throughout the team. yeah, I guess it will largely depend on who the 3 are though. The more I see Ince from Blackpool the more I want him here!
RonManager Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Heurelho Gomes from Spurs Good call, but we'll need to sign a GK as well.
Appy Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Don't bother with Reina, he made a mistake today too.
CB Fry Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Convinced we will not sign a goalie. Convinced we will sign Ramirez. And we'll scrape in a centre back no one has ever heard of making the Cult of Cortese rejoice in "we do our business in private" orgasms. And we'll sign some teenage full back from Exeter or MK Dons or something. As long as the centre back we sign is excellent - Svensson standard - we'll be fine to stay up with these signings.
pangy Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Ramirez Dann And get a full back in on loan from a Seria Ateam
ALWAYS_SFC Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 I am going to check this http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/Home to see we sign
CanadaSaint Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 yeah, I guess it will largely depend on who the 3 are though. The more I see Ince from Blackpool the more I want him here! Ince is the guy I've wanted to see all along. He and Clyne could be lethal up the right for years to come - and England internationals to boot. But one of the biggest problems of leaving it so late is the fact that the selling club has little chance to reinvest the money. That will apply especially to Blackpool because they have had a great start, so I fear that we must rule out Ince and perhaps Phillips as well. My hunch is that we're after either Ramirez or Phillips (the back-up option), so we'd better hope that we get Ramirez. But we have multiple permutations up front already and virtually none in the middle of the back row, so - with time running out fast - our priority should be back four signings rather than a battle of egos between two Italian chairmen.
Badger Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 GK - no idea Full Back - is Olson even a remote possibility ? CB - This Douglas character is possibly the best option we might hope for, although he'll probably end up elsewher Ramirez - that one is up in the air whilst two chairmen play a game of bluff, expect him to end up at Spurs, Liverpool or elsewhere now that our interest is so public Phillips - this is a signing I'd like to happen but Blackpool are unlikely to sell (to us). Biglia - isn't he now bound for Norwich anyway ? More realistic will be Dann, or an overpriced crock such as Dawson, or Upton, and a Serie A loanee.
Badger Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Just a thought, but Olson, Dann and now Goodwillie mentioned. What chance a bundle package from Blackburn ? Would save a lot of time in to-ing and fro-ing with another club. Not that Goodwillie is necessarily a player we need.
pangy Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Dawson is 9 mill upwards, wages would be huge and the reason they are off loading is because of his reoccurring Achilles injury Please god I hope we don't buy him
hypochondriac Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 yeah, I guess it will largely depend on who the 3 are though. The more I see Ince from Blackpool the more I want him here! I agree but I can't see Blackpool selling to us. I reckon they will risk keeping him there and then if they don't go up they will sell next year. I would sign Ramirez and invest some serious money (6-8 million) on a proven CB.
hypochondriac Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Dawson is 9 mill upwards, wages would be huge and the reason they are off loading is because of his reoccurring Achilles injury Please god I hope we don't buy him IF we signed him we would be confident he will play regularly. If we signed him I would be delighted. We need to invest in a proven quality CB, it is vital to our success this year.
Dr. Kucho Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 CB: Yoshida (VVV Venlo) CB: Loan from top Primera Division/Serie A club AM: Ramirez AM: Phillips Sell/loan out Sell: Hammond, Championship club. Loan: Dickson, League one club, season long loan. Loan: De Ridder, Championship club, 3 month loan. Loan: Chambers, Championship club, 6 month loan.
kpturner Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 CB: Yoshida (VVV Venlo) Hasn't Adkins already stated that we will not be signing Yoshida?
Dazza82 Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Ince is the guy I've wanted to see all along. He and Clyne could be lethal up the right for years to come - and England internationals to boot. He hasnt started any game for them yet though so are they planning for life without him
goneawol Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 (edited) Stoke's Oatcake forum has/had Olsson coming to us (post dated 23 Aug). Update from a meeting with Dave. Dave Kemp? http://oatcakefanzine.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=Potters&thread=195187&page=611#3491281 (post #18321) Edited 26 August, 2012 by goneawol
CanadaSaint Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 He hasnt started any game for them yet though so are they planning for life without him You could be right, but he's been a key late introduction, I think. And, right now, Blackpool wouldn't give us a spot if they had the measles (although it could all be "verbals").
westmidlandsaint Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 AM - Ramirez AM - Phillips CB - Mancienne CB - Miquel (on loan from arsenal) I think we'll give Davis until January transfer window
eharty9 Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Watching Football League Show last night, Dann made a huge f*ck up to gift Jamie Vardy a goal for Leicester. No thanks. oh come on griffo give the guy a break he tries his best!
david in sweden Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 We can cross skirtel off the list then. Skacel ? ...did you say Skacel ? .......no sorry Skirtel (phew-thank goodness).
david in sweden Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 IF we signed him we would be confident he will play regularly. If we signed him I would be delighted. We need to invest in a proven quality CB, it is vital to our success this year. Careful though, Dawson has an injury record almost rivalling that of Sicknote !
Wade Garrett Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 I would go for a keeper, left back, centre back, pacy winger and Ramirez/Lens. Reckon one or two of our fringe players could be on the move as well.
hypochondriac Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Careful though, Dawson has an injury record almost rivalling that of Sicknote ! Yes which is why I said 'IF we signed him we would be confident he will play regularly.'
S-Clarke Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 I would go for a keeper, left back, centre back, pacy winger and Ramirez/Lens. Reckon one or two of our fringe players could be on the move as well. It should be the busiest final week of the transfer window St Mary's has ever seen.
norwaysaint Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 I've got a strange feeling we'll end up only getting a couple of loans in after no more of our transfer targets work out. Based on nothing really.
Dalek2003 Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Just a thought, but Olson, Dann and now Goodwillie mentioned. What chance a bundle package from Blackburn ? Would save a lot of time in to-ing and fro-ing with another club. Not that Goodwillie is necessarily a player we need. Buy 2 and get 1 free
Wade Garrett Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 It should be the busiest final week of the transfer window St Mary's has ever seen. I reckon it could be the busiest final week for a lot of sides, as the market has been relatively quiet up until now.
S-Clarke Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 I reckon it could be the busiest final week for a lot of sides, as the market has been relatively quiet up until now. Fair point. I've been listening to a few of the managers post-match interviews today, and every one says that they'll be in the market as they still need additions. Odd that it's been as quiet as it has been.

Saint Martini Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 CB - Douglas from FC Twente AM - Ramirez from Bologna
PaulGilchrist_76 Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 A couple more championship players and a young lad on loan. Goodnight Vienna!
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 I've got a strange feeling we'll end up only getting a couple of loans in after no more of our transfer targets work out. Based on nothing really. These would have to be done before Friday though as no loan window past then. And I will reiterate, please God no Dann. Awful, awful player.
This Charming Man Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 Are there any players from the NPC team of the season we haven't signed yet? If so, them.
Neil Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 These would have to be done before Friday though as no loan window past then. And I will reiterate, please God no Dann. Awful, awful player. Dann's mistake yesterday won't have impressed many potential bidders!
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd Posted 26 August, 2012 Posted 26 August, 2012 I'd still like to see us sign Owen. I doubt we will as he'll want to stay local to the NW but I genuinely feel we could benefit from a striker with his experience. He'll score goals and others could learn a lot from him.
