mulletsaint Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 God we sound awful. This formation that NA seems to be persevering with could be the undoing of us this season. We do not have the players for 4-3-3 and seem to be undoing all that was good about us last season by trying to fit the players we have to a system which clearly does not suit us. Back to 4-4-2 please Nige. TBH I think it's persevering with JRod on the left that's the problem in the prem. Stick Lallana out left and Guly central and I think it'd work better. Don't have a problem with the second string using the same formation, should help any of them slot in should they make the step up.
Ohio Saint Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Yes I've had a few too!! Sho, how'sh it hangin, Eric, me ol' online buddy wuddy? Spickly Hen is it? Shpifire?
ericofarabia Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Sho, how'sh it hangin, Eric, me ol' online buddy wuddy? Spickly Hen is it? Shpifire? Make the most of it - these moments will be few and far between, down the pub for Prem games if not working and if at work no access to here. Old Specky it is. You on your Homebrew?
VectisSaint Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Sorry what's the score? 1-0 Saints, "Japanese striker Tadanari Lee converts Billy Sharp's 53rd-minute cross" according to Beeb.
aintforever Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 I dont get why we are persevering with this 4-3-3 nonsense. We should stick to what we are good at, there is no reason whatsoever why 4-4-2 can't work in the Prem. At the moment we are crowbaring players into positions they are uncomfortable in.
ericofarabia Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Thanks 1-0 to us .... only just Stevenage go close twice.
washsaint Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Are you there to come out with that definitive statement? Against Wigan, we looked better with the 4-3-3 than with the 4-4-2.......if we can get Ramirez and a CB we should be just fine.
Thedelldays Posted 28 August, 2012 Author Posted 28 August, 2012 2-0 to saints prem team gets ref bad decision their way....shocker
ottery st mary Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Lee will be back to make a big difference with his speed..when fully fit..
NY Saint Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Make that 2-0 - indirect freekick after a mistake from the Stevenage centreback. Chaplow played the ball square and Sharp walloped it in the net. Stevenage protesting it wasn't a back pass but decision is made and goal stands.
Thedelldays Posted 28 August, 2012 Author Posted 28 August, 2012 what a change this half....sounded horrific 1st half....complete control 2nd half stunner from punch
ericofarabia Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Is it 2-0 now .... bit of confusion with the Stevo taters. Sounds like we got a free kick we didn't deserve, then took the free kick from the wrong place and then Billy scored. Atmosphere with Stevo taters turned really frosty now!! Yay 3-0 shock horror probe Punchy volleys into the net .... must have been a miskick surely!!
NY Saint Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 3-0 - Puncheon with a cracker apparently. Will try and record the Fox Soccer show tonight and hope to see it.
saint lard Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Sharpe scores after a terrible mistake by the ref in giving a deliberate back pass. Puncheon scores a beauty. 3 nil saints.
Saints Fan Dan Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 I forgot over the pre seasons how ****e the BBC Sport website is now. Still saying one bloody nil.
Colinjb Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Turn your back for a second and you miss two goals! Haha.
itchen_dan Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Are you there to come out with that definitive statement? Against Wigan, we looked better with the 4-3-3 than with the 4-4-2.......if we can get Ramirez and a CB we should be just fine. Yep its just about getting that touch of quality in the key areas to help us out a bit. During 4-3-3, we were comfortable, created chances, very much on par with a top Wigan side in good form. Their 1st goal was our CB's switching off, the 2nd goal was Fonte being slack. Nothing to do with the 4-3-3 being wrong. We were very much 2nd best when we went 4-4-2 however.
ottery st mary Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 three top players in Lee , Sharpe and Punch....Who make our squad stronger..plus our new signings this week..COYS
JustMike Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints GOOOOOOOAAAAAALLL!!! What an absolute screamer from JASON PUNCHEON. Close all goal of the tournament competitions. That one wins
Ohio Saint Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 You on your Homebrew? Sadly, I'm drinking left over cans of donkey p!ss left over from a recent BBQ. You know, trendy kiddy drinks!
JustMike Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Southampton FC @officialsaints Puncheon picked it up 30 yards out, does a keepy up before unleashes a volley past the stranded Chris Day. Stevenage 0-3 Saints
Monk Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 There have been some belters at the City Ground tonight, can't wait to see JP's.
Ohio Saint Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Back on footy, I'm still quite relaxed about how we will perform this season.
Saint Without a Halo Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 just said that sky wanted to show this game thursday night....stevenage said yes but we said no and denied them £250k Why did we say no if none of our first team is playing?
Thedelldays Posted 28 August, 2012 Author Posted 28 August, 2012 There have been some belters at the City Ground tonight, can't wait to see JP's. figeroa.....was immense
Monk Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 figeroa.....was immense T'was indeed. Simon Cox's and Jordi Gomez all scored with great finishes.
Lazlo78 Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 figeroa.....was immense Cox's too! And the first goal showed amazing unity between Pompey and Saints: Harding allowed the cross and Halford allowed the header
gjphilsaint Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 BBC website ammends Punch's goal from 35yards to "outside the penalty box". Do it justice BBC!!
VectisSaint Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Why did we say no if none of our first team is playing? Perhaps the bus was not available, already booked to bring Ramirez to SMS from Gatwick
BigShadow Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Why did we say no if none of our first team is playing? Given our record on TV - no seemed like a good decision. Shame for Stevenage tho.
mulletsaint Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Crikey, what's going on with Leicester? Hardly a second team they've put out.
itchen_dan Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 Crikey, what's going on with Leicester? Hardly a second team they've put out. I was saying earlier here at home that Pearson will be sacked by Xmas. Lost 2 out of opening 3 league games and now being, in all honesty, thrashed tonight by Burton. And as you said, it isnt even really a Leicester 2nd team! City: Schmeichel, De Laet, Konchesky, Whitbread, Danns, St. Ledger, Waghorn, James, Gallagher, Schlupp, Knockaert. Subs: Morgan, King, Logan, Beckford, Moore, Futacs, Nugent.
Thedelldays Posted 28 August, 2012 Author Posted 28 August, 2012 reeves.....4-1 will the goals be on sky sports news..?
BotleySaint Posted 28 August, 2012 Posted 28 August, 2012 DC = Different Class .. obviously Dave 4-1. Another DC goal!
