Not my view but I overheard some guys on the way out discussing this as I walked to the car. Unbelievable.

Also heard fans texting in on Radio Solent calling for him to go......After 2 games......

Speechless!!!

Probably just fans who've sprung back up now we're in the PL.

No true fan, who has been through what we have in the last 2 years, would think any such thing.

It is crazy talk, especially wanting c*ntflaps in.

However it wouldn't surprse me if Cortese ditches Nige for someone proven at this level if results don't improve.

Cortese needs to look in the mirror rather than lashing out at a very good manager. A manager who identified the need for 2 GKs, 2 CBs, 1 LB, 1 RW and potentially 1 LW to be added to his squad. And for which the transfer committee have so far brought in one reserve GK. The manager knows what he wants and needs, he simply hasn't got it yet.

how do you know its NC that should look in the mirror..?

when the Northam were singing " one team in Hqmpshire" the couple behind said "what about Portsmouth" that was one of their more intelligent comments.

That is very true but I dont think Adkins has the contacts and pulling power of Redknapp

Adkins is not in a good position because the squad is not really PL standard and is going to struggle

If he does something daft like sack Adkins (again) it won't be to bring in Redknapp. Di Matteo is his best mate, so he'll be waiting for Chelsea to kick him in to touch.

It was a response to "if Cortese ditches Nige". If that happens, the role of the transfer committee would also be in question (given that they've yet to provide the manager with players he needs). NC sits on that transfer committee. Therefore, in that hypothetical situation, he would have to look at himself and others rather than isolating one man for the blame.

can't we just go down because we were not good enough?

I don't buy pulling power because of the manager. Its down to how big the club is, and how much they'll pay in transfer fees and wages. Redknapp had no real standing in European or world football before being at Tottenham, yet they brought in big players because of the club and the ability to pay very well.

Of course we can. The question will be "why weren't we good enough", though. And if it happens it will be for a number of reasons, but not because the manager is inept and should have been replaced IMO.

maybe nigel may not be up to it..?

The thing is we don't know what has gone on behind the scenes. We don't know who has targeted who.

I wouldn't sack Adkins even if we get relegated. But we are owned by billionaires, have a chairman banging on about Europe and have just got easily beaten by the Prems sh!ttest side. It wouldn't surprise me if Cortese decides to get someone who knows the Prem.

I think we'd be mental to get rid of him. Even if we go down. That's just my opinion, but I think with his resources (a net spend of £3M on players to get us from L1 to PL is 2 years) he has done an amazing job and deserves backing and patience.

I agree..but if we are on course for a debry-esque points total come xmas/february.....errrrr

We going to have threads like this after every defeat...?

Lol, we're 2 games in! There'll be 25-32 odd thousand supporters at games this season, are we going to have threads relaying every bull****e conversation overheard?

I'm going to need to give this place a wide berth for a few days i think, the lunatics are taking up arms...

I can't believe some of the comments I heard on the radio. This is the Guy who's got us promoted twice in two seasons and people are calling for hid head because we've lost our first two games. Never mind that our first game was away to the defending champions and we gave them an Almighty scare.

Some people really need to get a grip.

said it all along...we really have a bunch of moany fans

Some nutjob behind me was calling for Guly to be replaced by Sharpie (which I thought was a pen) after 15mins!

To be fair, he also referred to Lambert as lammo or lammy so Christ knows what he was drinking.

It's not Adkins. He's on record as saying we need to strengthen and where. The CoC won't like it but if we don't strengthen then only one person is accountable. Fana love to sing his praises and do far all has gone well. What happens when we go on a bad run? We shall soon see. I we are in the bottom 4-5 at Xmas Adkins will be gone

I suggest to you that the manner of todays defeat is the problem.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

TDD, I don't disagree with your reaction but do you think Cortese and Adkins are fully on the same page?

I'm "pro" both of them, very much so, but - looking from the outside - they just don't seem to be gelling for whatever reason.

what a terrible idea. a) he got us relegated b) he doesnt suit our kind of club/set up and c) (most importantly) adkins has just got us back to back promotions from league 1, he deserves more than a fair crack of the whip in the prem

Cortese wants adkins out the first 4 fixtures are great news for him, bottom of the table start of November he will be out for sure

Does he? Is this your opinion? A fact from speaking with NC? Or is it rubbish? Just wondering.

Adkins will take us down.

he was never the manager to take us forward.

he has showed how frail he is these past couple of seasons.

when the time has come ,he has failed.

hes been backed, but we have limped over the line.

he could never manage a side in the premiership, way beyond his capabilities.

hes out of his depth.

Oh Lard, you're so desperate to be proved right this time, aren't you?

Mate, you are a complete waste of space! Frail does not get dual promotions, he has not failed by any stretch of the imagination and arguably not yet been backed with a final squad for this league. You have disliked the guy from day one and I'm sure would take delight in relegation or his sacking but I reckon he is a winner and will prove you wrong again. I'm even prepared to have a little bet for charity if you're up for it?

Posted

Not desperate to be proved right, quite the opposite.

but good 'old smiley Nigel was/is way out of his depth.

tactically out thought on many an occasion, remember Reading defeat, amongst others.we almost threw our advantage away.

good luck to the fella, but he was never going to cut the mustard.

i have heard so many horror story's about him,no wonder Corteses want rid.

shame really,he could've had a bright future.

turn it around nige, would love to see you prove others wrong.
