We will finish midtable. Davis, Lallana and Lambert should play for England. You get more

Time on the ball in the premier league oh and we need a bigger ground. Discuss

I have said before that we will probably finish in the bottom three (actually siad 19th). Having said that we are all assuming that Wigan are going to be fellow relegation strugglers. Perhaps they are a top 10 team.

I love the man but Kelvin Davis needs to be replaced. hasn't got anywhere near any goals we conceded this season already, clearly your right that we dont need a bigger ground! But let's not be like typical saints fans and write the team off for a mid table finish already, it's only one game. I am quite optimistic when it comes to saints but if we beat man u or arsenal (I understand this may not happen) then we will have the same amount of points we were realistically expecting from the first 4 games. the only problem there would be we have still given wigan (possible relegation candidates) 3 points that may keep them up above us at the end of the season.

i did lol around May when so many were so confident of just having a comfortable season...and looking down their noses at the likes of stoke and sunderland and the prem in general

it was suggested that this team is better than WGS team of 2003....

we have a great deal of work to do and a great deal to get right...I think we will..I think we will finish 16th..we were always going to be bottom after the first 4 games.

I remember the prem very well from last time..which some of the younger posters may not...it is a very hard league where the poorest teams will punish you if you give them a chance...like we did against city and like wigan did to us..

we desperately lack pace at CB and in the attacking 3rd

Still at least 3 or 4 players from being a competitive side. After today, 6 days to get them in. We've still only made half the amount of new signings that last season's promoted sides made. we're getting to the point where we're going to have to make signings that are a gamble, akin to Jos Hooiveld. Worrying times.

Exactly how i see it. If we don't get anyone in then even the most optimistic fan must become concerned.

That was the most bored I've been at a football game in a while now. No real opportunities apart from long range efforts. The game had no real tempo to it either. Itchen North was sh*t. Moved there because I thought we'd stand and sing but it was all sat up to about EE/FF in block 2and the stewards were little Nazis. Never had that much grief to sit down ever in the Itchen North before.

Indeed. If it was just 1 or 2 players that we're short of, I'd be concerned but less so. 3 or 4 players short with this long to go, you have to worry about what we're going to bring in (if anything).

I'm going to go out on a limb here and predict that we dont manage to bring anyone in by the deadline.

I think we'll bring in 1 or 2, but that it will still leave us short of areas that we really needed to improve on (rather than spending £6M on a striker who isn't allowed to play up front).

Who said that then? Not me old chum.

No, probably not. Perhaps among the fannies and bedwetters you are made of sterner stuff. :)

I'm not worried about one home defeat.

Come back to me in November and if we have the same team, playing in the same positions, making the same mistakes, I'll be pi ssing all over my duvet.

But not today. It's premature.

jeez its been two games...

Everyone said that when we got relegated in 2004. Don't worry only 2 games etc. it not the result it's the performance. Make no

Mistake we were outclassed today and shown up. Wigs did to us what we've done to teams so Many time in the last 2 seasons. Got the goal then picked us off. I hope today was a wake up call for a lot of the mongs on here that think we are on an unstoppable march to the champions league. Today is proof we aren't.

I don't know why some of you clowns think I'm enjoying paying £575 to see us come up well short against Wigan FFS! I hate seeing us lose. All I'm doing is asking for the views now of the views now of the self title intelligent posters that predicted

The premier league would be a walk in the park and we'd play champions league football in front of a packed stadium. I'm yet to see a view from the intellegent posters. I await their input.

Yet all true and all what posters have said previously! Too many have seriously underestimated this league.

I know the OP was trying to be funny, and remind a lot of people about the rubbish they had spouted, but when I read the thread title before reading the bull**** accompnaying it, I agreed. The PL is average, the quality of football so far displayed, admittedly in 2 games, is shockingly poor. Wigan today were a complete crock of ****e, I remember seeing many teams playing better, and certainly more entertaining football in the Championship and even in some cases L1. Man City were really really average last week, and a half decent team would have got something from that game. The shock to me is that Saints management and players have seriously OVERestimated the standard, something I never thought would happen. They have tried to change the way we play to deal with the frighteningly impressive premier league teams, when sticking to what we used to be good at would actually have been a better option. Last week we saw 9 or 10 players who were clearly overawed, even scared of what was happening, only a 10-15 minute spell in the 2nd half showed what could be done with a different approach, being brave. Today was mind-numbingly awful, OK we hit the bar twice and had a few good efforts, but some players were clearly afraid to attack, and were apparently over-awed by their illustrious opponents. I have said all along that the PL is over-rated, other than the Top 4 or 5 the standard is actually no better than the top 6/7 in the Championship. Today was proof if it were needed, the sad fact is that NA and his team have misunderstood and hence we looked absolutely shocking against a very, very poor team.

I know we will improve, hopefully we will bring in a few, it is quite clear a new GK, LB and 2 CBs are necessary, but we really do need the spark in midfield that is currently sadly lacking. I also look forward to Chun being fully fit again, I can see him doing well, and know that he will not be overawed like some of our players seem to be.

No it isn't, in fact it is very much more than 6 days, if 2 hours and 50 minutes can be considered "very much more". I always assumed that maths was not an issue for you Alps, seems I was wrong. I guess you are trying to make the point that it is a bank holiday on Monday and that tomorrow is a Sunday, well here's a shock for you, people these days work on Sunday and even sign players (except for the actual business of signing the contract), **** sake even Mick Channon was signed on a Sunday. And as for Bank Holiday Monday, so you seriously believe that everyone will have their feet up because its a supposed holiday, its not a holiday in Europe, and millions will be working like any other day.

Turkish you should find another club to support. Saints dare to dream whereas you delight and under achievement it seems. Saints were poor but only a fool would gauge are season over these first 4 seasons and with the right signing you may end up with egg all over your face. This thread may well be another of you premature ejaculations coming to he fore.

The only point I will agree with you on is the attendance today which was disappointing. However the empty seats were almost entirely the Wigan rejectd and a few in itchen Wing. Its also the bank holiday weekend. Why don't you try some positivity to a change.

Join me on the limb, where I have been sitting since June. I think people have been hoodwinked into believing there was going to be a vast outlay on transfers

I don't why people think I'm happy to see us dominated by Wigan. I don't spend £3000 or so a year going to games hoping we lose. I find it highly amusing all the big talk during the last couple of years about how great we were, had a team packed full of should be internationals playing in our best side ever. and how st Mary's would be packed to te rafters every week with fans desperate to see premier league football and how anyone who disagreed was negative and had an agenda. It doesn't seem to working out quite how some thought it was going to.

Turkey- LOL how long did it take to think that one up?

These were all things that were said an people who disagreed had Dell sized mentalities. Our champions league march was unstoppable! Yet reality is proving to be quite different isn't it. I that doesn't sit well with you that's more your problem than mine.

I hate seeing us lose as well.

But I was expecting seeing us lose the majority of games this year, and so far I've paid £676 to Saints for the priveledge.

Truth is, I expect us to get relegated, and I'll enjoy life in the Championship again next season.

The best we can hope for is to be a West Brom type team: down one year and back the next: but each time being able to strengthen the team year on year until we can stay up and compete.

The five year plan is over: up early. The next plan should now be operating.
