Lack of "real"information re transfers from club!

....you mean like Harry Redknapp did at Portsmouth?.......Do you recall what Chelsea were like before their Russian " buy out "? Liverpool are on that way...and may become another Leeds...

I think even Alex Ferguson (not my favourite person) ........has a little more style than that.

No !...Keep quiet till the deal's done, (and never get blamed for those " failed deals " that never reach media ears).

Spot on

This is how Saints used to work when Lawrie was in charge, you heard nothing then the likes of Keegan, Osgood, Shilton, George arrived

It worked well in those days, and it's a good policy still, the trouble is nowadays is that you have Agents leaking news in an effort to get a better deal for their clients

OK I'm wrong so I'll carry on looking at the lengthy posts being made by the many experts on this forum who seem to have more idea what's going on than I do.

Can you not see why it is unprofessional if the club were to start revealing details of transfer negotiations and talking about other teams players publicly?

Silence by the club and also as little comment/discussion on forums can only assist us to bring in the best level of players. Just as our members quote forums elsewhere, our forum comments get monitored and quoted with the off chance that they may be detrimental to negotiations or let the club we're negotiating with, have information that could finish off the deal. It's hard to take but the Ramirez, Holland and Buttner threads to name a few, are nothing more than NEUROTIC MEANDERING leading on sheer INSANITY! :(

I have never asked about full details of every negotiation, offer, what the agent said and so on. However I do think it is appropriate to say for example, yes we are interested in the player, in negotiations etc when it is all over the press that the player is quoted, the agent quoted, the manager quoted and so on. That's all....

...and I'm sure some of us understand your viewpoint, BUT what is all over the press is not necessarily anywhere near the truth.

The Echo (for all its faults) has listed more than 60 players that somewhere or other - in the media - have been connected with our name - since the end of last season (!)

I don't think anyone can believe that we've been " interested " in signing anywhere near half of them .. and probably a lot less than that.

It's a bit naive to expect / the manager / anyone at the club / to give regular statements to all and sundry about who they are interested / not interested in, and alert other clubs at the same time.

The club will buy the players they want to / can get / but ... as a fan you only need to go to games and watch whichever team NA outs out.

PLUS very few fans have actually seen many of the players we've been linked with.

I genuinely believe that the staff at SFC are much better informed about players /availability / fees / ...than 99% of the people on this site, and we have to trust their judgement.

I am very disappointed that we have not had any form of communication from the club regarding the Ramirez/Philips transfer fiasco!

I do not see what benefit there has been in letting this carry on without any comment. What is wrong with saying we are still trying to complete a deal and explaining why there is a delay?

I would just like some progress report either from NA or being leaked to the press. It's embarrassing to watch NA being interviewed lately, he obviously wants to answer questions but isnt allowed and I for one don't understand why not!

This doesn't mean I want a running commentary but frankly 60 plus pages on one transfer suggests that fans are desperate for some communication from the club. Frankly I have spent literally hours reading through these threads and can say this situation is driving me mad.

60 plus pages but probably half of the posts come from about 15 people. You will find out when you find out.

Yes but am I the only one now really beginning to wonder if we are going to be up to speed squad wise by the end of the window......It is well documented on here what we 'need' in terms of position strengthening and by and large there agreement on that. However we have been slow to fill the holes and call it the jitters or what ever you like but we are still short - is anything happening????

Only a very few days left and we have three weaknesses in the team to fill..........I am getting nervous . The main reason for this is our stated ambition to finish about half way or above and not be fighting for our lives this year. We do run the risk at the moment of playing Russian Roulette this season. Perhaps problem solving with transfer negotiations is not our forte. If there are complications we rarely seem able to jump the hurdles - perhaps Davis apart but that was not really a 'complication' just a SFA decision... Anyway, no rumours at all now and time running out - are the club complacent about our needs or just unlucky in transfer dealings...

Anyone else wondering what's going on? Will we sign anyone? The lack of communication is depressing.......

If you find that depressing you need to take a look at yourself.

This is how the club do things, if you're not used to it after 3 years, you really should start getting used to it.

so-called " rich clubs " can afford to dictate terms, and often get over the odds for their players. Clubs who are desperate often make ridiculous demands in the name of preservation.

The Davis deal took time because, having gone bankrupt, the new owners at Rangers wanted to claw back as much as possible at the end of the day. Whether we got Steven Davis for free, or he cost £1 million in compensation we got a good deal. All things considered, he may turn out to be the best signing of the summer.

The sad saga with Bologna seems to be - from assorted info. / sources that their desperate chairman - (who apparently is soon to be a witness in a corruption trial in Italy)- is demanding all the money in one lump. Whereas our agreement seemed to have been 50% up front and the rest over the next year, and we are talking big money - for us anyway.

With his background as a banker, I trust Cortese to know what to do and how to balance the books, especially when you consider we still have two central defenders to sign by the end of the month and they won't necessarily come free.

The myriad things that can go wrong with a transfer has been highlighted by the Buttner dealings, also with a third -party involvement. I don't think we should be held to ransom or willing throw away money

on stupid demands just to line someone else's pockets.

Someone has to show a little common sense, and I for one don't blame Nicola Cortese one iota for showing some integrity in this crazy footballing world.

Unfortunately Mr Cortese come accross as an arogant arse.... probably a nightmare to do business with, so hence why things are not really moving!

if I were buying.... that's just the sort of person I'd want to be negotiating for me. Not just to sit there, smile and hand over the cheque. They usually win in the end.

I would guess that it is, but perhaps the other deals / enquiries / offers haven't reached the media ears, so perhaps it's good that all the attention is focused on the Italian situation.
