Turkish Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 It seems we are someway short of a sellout for this one which I find incredibly surprising. The price is relatively low for premier league football and what with 22,500 season ticket holders I'd have thought the remaining tickets would have sold out very quickly given weve been told all summer there are tens of thousands of floating fans from all over the south of England just waiting for saints to return to the premier league so they can watch top flight football. Given we sold out the last few games of last season id have thought our return to the premier league would have seen this game sell out quickly and easily. Particularly with a club of our Size with this huge catchment area we keep being told about. I have to say I'm somewhat surprised.
Griffo Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 How many do we have left to sell? I can't believe it if this isn't looking likely to sell out. Embarrassing.
manji Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 Ticket Office told me it was likely to be close to a sell out this morning. Sales have picked up after Sundays positive result.

Wade Garrett Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 There wasn't a lot of choice for seats this morning.
Turkish Posted 20 August, 2012 Author Posted 20 August, 2012 On Friday there were still "a few thousand" left. I find this odd considering what we've been told all summer.
oldsarum Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 If you look online there are approx 3,500 tickets still left Of these approx 1800 are for Blocks 43 and 44, although they are only selling Block 43 at the moment Kingsland and Family Centre practically sold out, not too many left Itchen but plenty left in Chapel.
Matthew Le God Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 On Friday there were still "a few thousand" left. I find this odd considering what we've been told all summer. They've only recently opened up the blocks Wigan aren't going to be using haven't they?
CB Fry Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 If only we had activated dynamic pricing as we should have done this season because this situation would have triggered the ticket price to go up. Or down. Or both. Or something.

Saint_Donovan Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 I think it's mostly single seats left when I looked at the kingsland layout
krissyboy31 Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 Still quite a few available in Chapel/Itchen corner and most of block 43 (Wigan returns). The rest of the ground is pretty much sold out.
Neil Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 22,500 season ticket holders That's pretty impressive if true.
Frank's cousin Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 ...and the winner of the most predictable thread laced with sarcasm goes to....
saints_is_the_south Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 It will sell out, or close to it. Small away following doesn't help but I'm sure we'll fille 43 & 44. Even if there are tickets left on the day a good walk up will be enough to ensure the ground is full.

There is the answer to your question. Over 10% remain unsold and only half of these in the two blocks unused by Wigan. I'd have thought given what we've been told all summer this game would have sold out weeks ago, wouldn't you?

I'd have thought given what we've been told all summer this game would have sold out weeks ago, wouldn't you? It's dissappointing that all those people who don't bother trying to get a ticket because they know they won't get one haven't even started to try to get one yet.

Even if there are tickets left on the day a good walk up will be enough to ensure the ground is full. Coventry only brought a small away following, It didn't stop us selling out that day. considering we can add the 10,000s of thousands of fans we've been told were waiting for us to be promoted so they could come along to St Mary's to see Premier lewgue football this game should have long since sold out, should it not? It's a good price, it's Premier league football, we are showing ambition in the transfer market like never before, Jesus it even guarantees you a Man U ticket. What can th problem be?

Youve usually got a lot to say on this subject, I'd be interested to hear what your take on this is rather than trying to make it descend into squabbling.

Turkish Posted 20 August, 2012 Author Posted 20 August, 2012 That's pretty impressive if true. It is true. Which means that if we have a rough guess at 1,000 Wigan fans coming, Saints have only sold around 6,000 tickets to non season ticket holders, which can't be true, given our catchment area, fan base, ambition of our chairman, Chelseas crowds in 1984 and all that.
Turkish Posted 20 August, 2012 Author Posted 20 August, 2012 Coventry didn't sell out a week before the game. So what? We werent in the Premier league then.

I know more than a few of my mates (all regulars) that are away on holiday right now.
Bearsy Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 It's a bit my fault probably cos I'm going to the reading festival instead. Probably a lot of people are! I remember last year i saw someone in a Saints shirt, i remember cos it was a pretty ****ish thing to wear to a music festival. It made me feel sad for him! So that's like two of us at least. Have you factored all this in Turkey? Bout people going to reading festivals?

Youve usually got a lot to say on this subject, I'd be interested to hear what your take on this is rather than trying to make it descend into squabbling. I'll give you your due, you sure know the right buttons to push to demonstrate the WUM mentality - not sure what twisted pleasure you get form it, or more to the point what's missing in your life that you need it... but that's another issue. Suspect you have insecurities - the need to use this tio somehow boost your ego as often as possible by **** taking and trying to belittle others opinions or thoughts - well if it makes you feel all manly and grown up, good luck to you. Wigan Attendance - will be close to sell out - August bank Holiday weekend and current climate does not help, but traditionally we have not sold out these early games - but WTF does it matter anyway? You seem to get more pleasure out of finger pointing and sn iggering than you would from a 10k ST waiting list... whatever floats your boat... quite sad though really
Thedelldays Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 oddly enough, I could manage one home game out of the wigan/UTD games I did not even look for wigan tickets as I thought they would be pretty much sold out for where I would sit (cheap seats) So I got man U tickets instead (block 13)...... matters not, will still be watching via some online site
sperm_john Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 i'm hoping to go, so +1 to whatever we have sold so far, if that helps...

Frank's cousin Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 Frank, don`t bother trying to reason with the troll he is quite clearly a p r i c k... Gotta keep trying matey, its my purpose to reason him into submission - naturally I have to assume he has the adequate neural capacity for this - evidence is slim, but dont want to prejudge - afterall I am informed he has a nice line 'smart gear' an obvious sign of the superior intellect
Turkish Posted 20 August, 2012 Author Posted 20 August, 2012 Frank, don`t bother trying to reason with the troll he is quite clearly a p r i c k... Look sunshine, we were told all summer how huge our catchment area is and how many thousands of people will want to come to Southampton to see premier league football. I'm just asking for those that made these claims view on why the very first game of the season is a few days away and we have over 10% of available tickets still unsold. I mean it was only 4 months agomfans were on the Pitch singing "we are premier league" are we only premier league once The Early games are out of the way, not on bank holiday weekends, When games aren't on telly and so on? It's a very simple and perfectly valid question, sadly clowns like you resort to name calling rather than offering anything constructive.

It's our return to the premier league on Saturday, surely there'd be a clamour for this one.

Turkish Posted 20 August, 2012 Author Posted 20 August, 2012 is this because you've ordered too many foam hands ? This is one of my concerns. I'm also worried about my Saints/Wigan halved "premier league, we're avin a laff" scarves might not be the money spinner I expected.
benjii Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 Nice of Turkish not to disappoint. Every time I start to think he's not a boring, unfunny, predictable, loser he slams those thoughts right back down my mental throat. What a guy.

Frank's cousin Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 Plenty of personal insults and name calling yet still no one can explain why it hasn't sold out. Just for you uberfanboy (sounds nice and 'manly' which should resonate with your 'style') - They are staying away - Since you have become such a vibrant internet 'personality', most know they cant compete with you 'neat strides', fine attire etc - they are intimidated by your status as the ultimate smartly dressed fan, which as you have stated (so it must be true) is so important - afterall if we had any deep seated insecurities we might actually give a flying feck what other fans think of us.
Golden Balls Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 My guess would be people see Wigan and go, 'Nah, they're literally the least attractive game of the season' 10,000 people from Dorset are waiting for the Villa game. Bet it sells out though...
ollysaints1 Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 there will be atleast 30,000, ONly tickets left are the ones wigan didn't sell, correct me if im wrong?

Johnny Shearer Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 I don't understand Turkish, this is as you have referred a 'mongboard'. So clearly all those people who said sell-outs would be the norm were mongs for doing so. Therefore surely you have fallen into the trap of asking a mong question? Have you become the very being that you are tryign not to be?

Johnny Shearer Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 Is not the thread and my question mutually exclusive?!
SaintNik Posted 20 August, 2012 Posted 20 August, 2012 as you can see I rarely post anything on this board. Turkish - are you hoping for a plausible explanation? Is there some sort of a prize for the correct answer? Does anyone actually care? Oh well 5 minutes of my life I won't get back. I'm off to more pressing matters, I must organise my sock drawer alphabetically by colour.......right where are my acqumarine socks
